10211 Grand Emporium
Legoliner, since the board messenger is telling me you have chosen not to accept PMs, I will post my response to your PM here: Saying you have pics but don't ask for them is pretty rude and would get you flamed to death on any other forum. I do appreciate the ddetailed escription you added, however, which I saw after I posted. Did you notice its 10211 and not 101211? Regards Svelte

10211 Grand Emporium
Keep on topic! Legoliner, you really should think before you post However, that doesn't mean others can trade veiled insults with you. I think we're all anxious for more information, but we are at the whim of the LEGO gods, who are not always merciful I used to be the first to want pics, but over the last year or so I have come to appreciate the release of multiple hi-res shots of these beauties (such as for the MMV or the Flagship) rather than leaked tiny thumbnails where you have to squint to see anything and then 5 people report that they can tell from the dodgy pic the exact piece count, number of figs, and part selection used

Red Moon: Chapter Two
If anyone starts hearing a soft splintery crunching sound, it's probably just Stanton's bones and skull cracking as the dark gem transmutes his body into a demon-host like the statue we saw earlier. Just pointing this out now so you don't all panic when the eclipse hits. *backs away slowly*

Red Moon: Chapter Two
I don't like the thought that there is some malevolent spirit inside the gem waiting for the right moment to come forth and possess us! Is there anyway we can encircle the gem? Maybe inside a silver chain?

REVIEW: 7207 Fire Boat
Thanks for this review! I must have missed it the first time round I like the cabin design - it's very well-built and quite detailed - but these enormous boats are just too big for me. I think I prefer the mould that was used in the earlier Police/ Fire versions which looked a bit sleeker. The bulky hulls look like they belong to some other class of vessel, not speedy rescue craft! Thanks for the comparison pics too metalandi

Harry Potter 2010 discussion thread
The only semi-official person who has said that the last books are too dark was on the LAML podcast. They also said there would be no more Harry Potter sets, full stop! So yes - not exactly accurate information, was it? Fans seem hung up on this darkness issue but there is little evidence to say that LEGO treats it with the same reverence as fans seem to. LEGO seems to take the view that half a licence's worth is in its potential to be converted into a video game, and since when have they been able to stop at just one? Just like Indy, I am sure we will see a new game once the final movies are in release - Years 5-7 - and if the sales of the physical line are strong this year I don't doubt we'll see another wave of sets.

Red Moon: Chapter Two
I would like to sit here in the corner, looking glamorous and mysterious, possibly puffing on an old-fashioned style elongated cigarette holder, whilst the rest of the tour climbs about on all fours, tapping every tile and brick like a bunch of drunken monkeys.

Yes, I must agree with Jack Baxter here - there was nothing on our tour waivers that said sodomizing minors was prohibited

AFOL and their approach to the hobby by theme
Some AFOLs *are* snobbish about official sets, and are MOC purists who look down a little on people who enjoy official sets on their own terms. I am not accusing anyone in this thread, but this is definitely an attitude I've encountered before. Personally I love official sets as much as I love making my own creations, and I am not much of a vehicle builder, so if I want a little car or truck I'd much rather use a well-designed official model than waste time building something less than satisfactory. As for Cafe Corner - I don't see why including this set in an otherwise MOC layout would contaminate it in any way - really, I'd include it as an homage to the amazing set that kickstarted the whole trend for large scale, beautifully designed buildings. To be honest it still stands head and shoulders above a lot of MOCs I see In the end, I like a mix - I see nothing wrong with admitting that LEGO designers can do some things better than me. Part of the joy of putting together a layout can be enhancing or improving official sets (eg, I always replace the cone and 1x1 round plate flowers on Creator houses with more classic foliage like proper flowers and trees as I find them more visually appealing).

Red Moon: Chapter Two
OK, so we know it's an anagram now! Woo! I am guessing that we *can* take out Silver from Sliver then since we found a prominent silver sword. Goes to check internet anagram server vast mental blonde powers to search for more clues. 'He slivers lotus vase' minus silver he s lotus vase a vessel south? maybe there's a sheath for the sword south? east is another direction one could get from the letters... or 'he slot sword, save us!' *looks at the sword bearer* Slot us! Do eet! OK, I am going to sit in my corner now. *waits for someone else to have a go*

Questions on Shipping
Despite what they say now, this will end up in a department store or at a pinch K-Mart or Target as an exclusive on sale either in July or next Xmas. Not TRU. If you are buying that many, why not do a test order with Express shipping of 3 or 4 and pay the $100 all at once. I think you may be pleasantly surprised. Boxes of the same size tend not to crush each other. If you are seriously buying 10 or more then honestly paying a bit extra in shipping doesn't strike me as a huge problem

Questions on Shipping
If you really are worried about MISB quality I would just pay the extra $55 and have it Express shipped from LEGO. That way you get it very quickly, it comes via a proper DHL courier rather than dodgy Aus Post, and it spends a lot less time in transit (ie a lot less time in transit with the associated risks of crushing). Also don't buy anything else large at the same time as LEGO's packing staff are morons and they tend to put heavy boxes on lighter boxes etc which can result in damage. Express shipping is not perfect but it can be a lot better than standard. And if the set does come damaged, ring up S@H using the freecall numbers on the website and complain, and they will probably refund your shipping. Yes, it's expensive, but that's the price of shipping to Australia Other than that you can wait and see if one of the retailers picks this up in time for the July sales and pick a box then (this is usually what happens with large Exclusives - either K-Mart, Myer or DJs ends up bringing in a limited amount for the July toy sales).

Review 8191 Lavatraz
Thanks for this review! Eruptorr really is impressive, and the drink machine is a great touch, but I'm not sure I want to pick up the rest of the set just for one rock monster and a cool can! I do find it hard to look past the garishly clashing colours. Perhaps even if they'd used a different base shade than the long red plates in ordinary red, this may have looked better. As it is, there's just too many colours going on - blue, lime, dark brown, silver, black, trans-orange... I also think the little vehicle is not nearly as nice as the small standalone set and the Bionicle parts/ Zamor spheres are a bit of a let down after last year's specialty rocky parts like the drill bit and wheels.

Questions on Shipping
Do you know that the sets will even be in the Lane Cove warehouse? In my experience S@H deliveries themselves go through the courier company, which is located in Matraville. S@H orders are treated differently to standard retail stock and I doubt LEGO will sell you this directly and allow you to pick it up. Even if they do I bet they still charge the shipping rate to get it to Australia in the first place, since stock won't be locally warehoused here. But let us know how you go!

Review 8191 Lavatraz
Thanks for this review Lego Freak! Unfortunately your pics are a little large at 1000+ pixels each. Could you resize and change the links according to the site guidelines? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18718 The normal maximum is 800 wide. I understand it's a little bit of extra work but you have so many pics in this review I can't let it slide. On the upside, if you do resize the pics, I think this fine review definitely belongs on the frontpage! Thanks!
