  1. Thanks for sharing these! I'm a plant-fanatic so it's lovely to have detailed instructions for some very original techniques!
  2. Wow! Amazing work! Outstanding use of colour! I remember this from its early days, so it's interesting to compare what you've changed. I'm glad you kept the whirligig eyes the same I did wonder what that large trans-light blue building was in the background of one of your episodes, now we know!
  3. I agree with you completely. Doing it virtually is kind of pointless
  4. Please be more specific in your thread titles when posting these sorts of info requests. Thanks.

Thanks for the new pics! I'll update the index and first post shortly
  6. How exciting! I haven't heard anything about this. Do you think you would be able to take a pic and share it with us?
  7. Just to add that those looking for good deals on S@H come Boxing Day may find themselves disappointed - a lot of the good stuff is now showing as sold out, including the remaining 2007 City sets (Recycle Truck, Cement Mixer, Train Station, Garage) and the King's Castle Siege, and from 2008 most of Indy is now gone, as well as a lot of the early Star Wars sets, most of Agents 1.0 and the Jan City transport theme. Eiffel Tower and VW Beetle are now gone from Exclusives along with Town Plan. http://shop.lego.com/WhatsNew/ProductsLaunched2007.aspx?va=1 http://shop.lego.com/WhatsNew/ProductsLaunched2008.aspx?va=1
  8. That's why I don't really understand K-Mart's crazed aggression. Their margins must be so low. Usually in the lead up to Christmas everything vanishes off the shelves anyway - 90% of stock is gone by Xmas Eve and only the really unwanted stuff remains - last year it was large Technic sets, Racers and Mars Mission. We normally don't get the 2010 sets on shelf until the end of the first week or the second week of Jan. Maybe things are different this year, which would be a surprise indeed. The US market isn't really an indication for Australia, since our retailers are serviced by the European LEGO HQ.
  9. There were still 2 at K-Mart Bondi Junction for Sydney-siders this arvo. Somebody had taken the clearance tag off the shelf which is why they were probably still there. David Jones doesn't *want* us to know when sales are on!
  10. Last year, my Xmas set up was a Shrieking Shack on top of the lovely icy blue/ white baseplate from the Alpha Team Ogel Mountain's Fortress, with some 8x8 trans medium blue plates for icy ponds (like the Town Plan ones) and some dark green trees as pines. (This baseplate - one of my favourites!) As I opened the Advent Calendar, that's where I put all the figs and little builds. I also added some landscaping details like little hills and a cobbled road down the middle of the baseplate. It was sweet looking but I don't know if I have any decent pics One way to make it 100% instantly more Xmassy is to rebuild the Sweets shop that comes with the Shrieking Shack into something more substantial as it adds a nice touch to the village atmosphere and the dark orange provides some colour variation.
  11. This is now appearing on US S@H as 'Coming Soon' http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=10210
  12. The more, the merrier!
  13. Wow - that's pretty cool! It's good to see LEGO Australia have an online presence. Maybe this will help confused parents in some way, or is it just to support the retail stores? It does seem kind of late out of the gate - if they were planning this, they should have promoted it in the Club magazine where parents could look it up. lightnintiger, maybe you could summarise all the K-Mart shelf code stuff for us in one place and what the various acronyms and dates mean once more?
  14. I price checked a few times at K-Mart and they never went down to $90 in my area. They stayed at $150. Maybe it was a glitch.
  15. I saw the yellow Lamborghini set in K-Mart today clearanced to $45, down from $95. If it was any colour but yellow, I might be tempted I feel sorry for the second year wave of sets. We've had to look at that Construction Site set since Jan and they still can't get rid of it, whereas all the new stuff is just being tossed out the door like junk

Thanks for the large pic, Pi! I'll do an update of the pinned index thread shortly. In the meantime, track down other box art pics to complete the set
  17. Looks like snub-nosed canopies are the way of the future

Your powers are indeed great and many. I was trying to reassure any worried younglings that Santa didn't have a hit-list... so far

Plus, we can now have official LEGO confetti from the punched out holes Great for wedding MOCs, etc.

Be careful.... it wouldn't surprise me if Santa had a list of whiners to cross off the advent list (For the record, he doesn't... but you could definitely be more gracious.)

For those of us who love papercraft *and* Lego, I think this is an amazing concept and it looks beautifully done! I personally think it's fantastic to see Lego spreading out into other creative forms apart from sets which aren't just endless video games, plush stuffed toys or cooking accessories At least this requires some creativity! The little models look so cute and I like the quiet minimalism of the whole package (although from what you say I bet there are a few Muji employees quietly rocking themselves to sleep at night for having betrayed the company's design principles ). I want, I want, I want! You can bet 100% these won't be released anywhere but Japan If this hasn't been featured on boingboing.net you should try and get their attention - this is totally the kind of stuff they go crazy over.
  22. Well, to be fair, I never thought LEGO would ever produce a cheerleader I understand your reasoning. That's why I voted for wrestler, even though I don't like wrestling. The fig looks great and it's just something I NEVER would have expected from LEGO in a zillion years. Maybe there's a secret contingent of 'Bring It On' fans amongst the AFOL community.
  23. Nice find! There are a few sticker books coming out but it's all a bit confusing. You can't seem to pre-order it from Amazon UK which sounds very strange for a title supposedly released in a few weeks. There's also apparently a Star Wars Lego Sticker Book to be released Dec 20 2010? However, you *can* preorder that one If anyone has seen confirmed copies of this book (it should be around now somewhere with that release date), please let us know!

The clock ticks over 12 minutes from when you made that post, your time
  25. How cute! What a lovely idea! Even if the snowglobes are unavailable, you can use the new Xmas decorations for (admittedly) much smaller scenes:
