  1. I can't remember all the sets now; I just remembered being excited by that paritcular one as it seemed cool I had a look through this very forum, and it appears the fake set list was at one pointed posted to brickset. Check out this topic - the brickset link no longer works, but you can see people start talking about the Flying Dutchman set almost immediately. Aaah, anticipation EDIT: Check post 8, here's a list of the rumoured sets from the start of 07. Some of them sound really good!
  2. I saw this on the weekend and thought it was brilliant It was very original and what was great was the sense of surprise - at the start, you don't quite know which way it's going to go, and it twisted direction a few times, and certainly kept me guessing. The special effects were top-notch; not at all distracting or fake-looking, and there was pathos, humour and social commentary by the bucketload, but never overshadowing an enjoyable and moving journey for the protagonists and audience. It doesn't strike me as a movie that requires a sequel, and since this is the director's first big movie, it doesn't strike me that he would want to do a repeat. Since Peter Jackson's production company arranged the financing there may be something contractual for options on sequels, but neither of those guys strike me as directors who would churn out sequels just because they can.
  3. Thanks for the new pics, grogall. This book is really looking excellent, and the layout looks exceptional - much better than some of the DK 'churn 'em out' Visual Dictionary styles. It even makes me want the old AT-TE Let's just hope the Luke fig is a proper one and not one of the crappy pre-assembled cheapy versions a la the magnets, battlepacks and so on.
  4. Rumours of a 'Flying Dutchman' set have been flying around since 2006, right after the first Spongebob sets came out and people were speculating about the second wave. Someone posted a few fake sets on wikipedia at the time, which fuelled the rumour, although they were taken down fairly quickly. Three years later, we haven't seen anything, so I wouldn't hold your breath Unless you're underwater, of course
  5. There's a lot of ambivalence towards Market Street, but I like it a lot. It's an amazing parts pack, with lots of small pieces in great colours, which is handy if you're building your own modular street, and the parts also offer more flexibility than the more standard assortments in sets like the Creator houses. It contains a lot of basic bricks in unusual colours as well as the older-style (and more solid) door and window pieces. In Australia, it's also pretty good value for the price, which makes it even more attractive. In some ways it is the most versatile of the series as the floors can be swapped around a lot more flexibly. I also love the little balcony with view of the street, chair and flowerpot on the top floor. However, I don't know if it fits the modular street for a few reasons: - the bold blue colour scheme is probably too bright to really go well with the more muted tones of Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. I especially can't see it next to the Fire Brigade set, as it seems too disparate in architectural styles. - the shape is odd compared to the other sets. While I would like to have a smaller building to round off the modular street, having one tall skinny multistoried building next to an elaborate gate doesn't quite work If you want to include it on the modular street, I'd actually recommend rearranging the layout as demonstrated on the Factory website: Or, buy 2 Market Streets, alter the gate side, and stagger the floors like this and stick it on the end of the strip:
  6. Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol 3, the Lego ruler and a post-it note block are all new at S@H.
  7. Lovely work! I love how all the cavernous chambers are interconnected with traps and so on. It definitely adds to the adventurous feel!
  8. I misunderstood, then. No, I'm happy where I am. I blame the sunstroke! Moisturise me, moisturise me!
  9. Pics and news were first found in Japan (like the Carousel), but I'm 99% sure this will be a normal release via S@H I think that usually the Xmas themed sets (advent calendars, magnets and so on) are available around about October, so really not that long to wait.
  10. Yes, seeing as Brakes just almost plunged to his doom, we should be extra careful. Is that everyone? I hope we're not intending to come back this way. I don't know if my nerves could survive a return journey.
  11. No! I'm still here. *Reluctantly dresses* Now will someone help me across? Herman, don't throw your tighty-whities. I have my own elasticated support.
  12. Backordered 4-6 weeks, eh? Maybe that's why my PF battery Johnson rod smells bad.

What a cheerful execution! I love all the flags and the excitement of the crowd. The red trans 1x1 plate for the decapitated head is a novel touch, too. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Thanks for the pictorial update. You've done a neat job of making these horrors easy to identify Perhaps Brickbeard's pegleg is a mould not available in the new factory, hence the difference in quality. It is a sad day for minifigs and I really hope we don't see an expansion across more lines with parts produced with inferior quality.
  15. Armendariz, Bricklink lists two different versions: The more common, dull looking version - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3847 And an early version, made of shiny ABS, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3847a, which appears in a lot less sets. Obviously at some point, for whatever reason, they changed the plastic - maybe the hard ABS was too brittle for the very flat thin blade of the early versions?
  16. It's turning red; I should cover up. I don't want it to drop off *cough* again *cough* Maybe I'll go for a 'Garden of Eden' look and cover myself with a fig-leaf. This attractive and bright green foliage will make a great mankini!

Sieggy, that fresh Tasmanian air keeps you looking young. Like it's famous smoked salmon! You'll dry up like a prune when you hit the northern states. Better start getting the botox treatments now I seem to remember in a birthday notification someone hit 40 recently. TheBrickster must be getting on, since he personally possesses (by owning as a child) or recalls seeing on store shelves almost every set from the mid-70s on
  18. Absolutely stunning review  The whole set-up really does have a 'classic' feel, which is emphasised by your beautiful pics, especially all those hilariously composed action shots at the end Thanks for sharing it with us!
  19. Absolutely. Most of my BL orders would easily exceed by a factor of several times. And until there's some idea about prices, I wouldn't assume discounts will be that large. Unless it's a way to soften a(nother) forthcoming PAB price hike. Let's hope some LUGs that take advantage of this scheme keep us informed. Not yet; but remember, this is a pilot program. With so many members, I don't think it would be impossible to arrange Partly why some of us are asking so many questions is to see whether the discount would be worth taking that step to set up LUGs in areas which there may be none, in future.
  20. Chrome stormtrooper now available from S@H for $AUD10.99 for pointless bling enthusiasts

Some of the colours come from the new Games range
  22. I take it the point of the scheme is that bulk orders mean attractively discounted prices on parts for the LUG? If so, what level of discount is this? Without specifics it's hard to know if its worthwhile. 'The average amount per member to purchase is max. 200 DKK' - does this mean the average maximum spend per head for each order is only 200 DKK? That doesn't seem like a lot... This all sounds very intriguing but I'm not sure exactly what the intended purpose of the scheme is... to get access in bulk amounts to active elements not covered by PAB? Is this for personal use or more generally for the good of the LUG as whole, for public displays and suchlike, which seems to be implied by the requirement to have displays a certain amount of times per year and so on? EDIT: As Sandy says, it does seem like a lot of effort and organisation on the part of the LUG to organise this, with paperwork, taxes and customs, and so on, so a clearer idea of the benefit may be helpful

Please don't be requoting the entirety of KD's post - that's twice on one page. A judiciously inserted *snip* in between the quote brackets would do the job just as well if you're replying to a specific point And no, these are not likely to be 'potential' sets since they have been listed on amazon.de
  24. But I haven't even started the search yet... Don't mind me, I'm just applying a little cooking oil. *starts humming* At my local disco... Down in San Francisco... I lost a bottle of Crisco...
  25. Sure, I don't mind. *shrugs* I'm a chef and this is just like stuffing a turkey.
