  1. The source is from the same site which said the line was cancelled: http://jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=2715/

Left over Penguin pants! There's purple in the new Toy Story figs, so rumours of its demise are much exaggerated.

This issue seems to have occurred in other sets too with different torsos but using green - I noticed that in the City Corner set, the mechanic's torso print was very dark green, whereas the same print in earlier sets leaned towards the lighter shade. People who have the older torso from sets like the Advent calendar etc would probably notice the difference.
  4. Yay for Erds indeed! However, since there has been an ongoing discussion in the Pirates forum, I see no reason to begin it again here.

It does if you say it over and over and over again...

With those carouselling O-faces I predict a rise in MOCs Let me Grinchify this thread! I applaud the move away from straightforward Advent calendars as Xmas releases, and I love the lampposts, the studdy tree, the Belville star, and all the wonderfully clever mini gifts, but the toy shop looks like a mess of too many colours and parts - the kind of thing people always complained the Harry Potter sets used to be like (although they rarely were). Look at that shop! It has both black and white windows, the white Belville arch, bley Technic roofing details, dark red curves, dark bley log pieces... it's too random. The white plate slope roof looks sort of unfinished. It's a cute Xmassy MOC, but it's not an official set Apart from the one new face, the minifigs are so-so, the usual City 'spare parts bin' approach. Half the torsos aren't even printed! Yes, they're getting lazy. I would have liked it more if they'd kept the tree, toys and lamppost and made the shop a toyshop in the shape of a Gingerbread house or something more distinctively Xmas. They could have revived one rare colour (dark orange), made the overall decoration a little simpler, and still kept the festive feel.

Stashtastic news! Congratulations on your promotion. I hope you have a slightly sadistic streak latent somewhere under that good-natured personality, you will need it to keep this forum ordered, calm and in-line! To prepare yourself for this new challenge, I bet you've been getting up an hour early each day and chanting the mantra 'Stay on Target' into the bathroom mirror
  8. I love the hedges, but enough with the dodgy Lego boobs already, MOCers! I've never seen a convincing pair At least the Queen's brassiere doesn't consist of a complicated web of rubber bands, which is something. Still, enough! I wonder how many ribs she had removed to get her waist so thin?
  9. This is the same problem we had when we divided into groups, and frankly I'm tired of standing around arguing about who or who isn't a Town Council member blah blah. Since we are powerless to act on anything about our suspicions without the authority of the Great Voice in the Sky, I don't see what is to be gained with all this 'suspicious intepretation' of others' activities. It's all just whiny hearsay! Furthermore, it would help if we had some more concrete evidence pointing to who these Council members are and some idea of what options are available to us in terms of dealing with them once they are discovered. Otherwise we will continue to be attacked one by one until we wake up in the middle of the night going 'OMG - it's you - GAK!' as our throats are cut. I say we continue to explore when allowed to do so and not get caught up in endless discussions about who or who doesn't wear frilly pink knickers is a Town Council member as we are clearly not allowed to do anything about our suspicions at this stage. Sooner or later they will make a mistake or drop a more conclusive clue - then let us pounce!

If anyone can navigate the treacherous waters of Classic Pirates with a firm grasp on the wheel and an eye on the straight and true course, it is Erdbeereis! Congrats Erdy!
  11. Yes, it was just a basic auto-correction. I think the original pics are a little blurry but that can't be helped.
  12. At least you can rest content in the knowledge that they may well up the price again by $50 in another few months (a la Toyworld with Endor) and then deign to 'discount' it by 20-30%. What's happened to all the retailers? They never used to be this bad! I haven't been to a TRU for a while - with their 'sale' ended, are their non-exclusive sets still sitting above RRP?
  13. Here's the same images, now with 50% less eye-bleeding from the porntastic yellow filter! Thanks for alerting us, Big Pete!
  14. I can appreciate your argument, but if Fantasy continues on without change in 2010 then that will be four years that the same factions have been present (Dwarves and Trolls having been present since the mine set was released at the end of 07). How many of the older Castle factions underwent such little change in 4 years? A quick flick through brickset or the Collecter's Guide shows that the Castle line produced more simultaneously existing factions than any other line (surely a sign how important minifigs were even then), even if the sets were reduced in number overall and some themes spread sporadically over a few years. Variety was built in to the Castle line almost from the start with the introduction of Black Falcons, so it isn't particularly unreasonable for modern fans to seek similarly broad horizons. I think you're also missing the point that many of those who want a new faction are looking forward to a different style of building in terms of structures and vehicles as well. I think most of us agree that for the three non-exclusive sets released in 2009, the figs have been good while the designs have been lacklustre to mediocre. I sense a fair amount of desire for new aesthetics and set styling more than just for a faction of Elves per se, for example.

Star Wars fans love nothing more to debate the finer points of this kind of esoterica, even when clear evidence exists to settle the matter one way or another! If you check out CopMike's original review right here on EB, you can see how the figures seem to appear different under varying lighting environments.
  16. What's 'worse' about Sallyfried being a woman? It's a valid mode of being for many walruses. Besides, she has such a shiny, soft pelt
  17. Off topic, but I think my greatest achievement on EB is the introduction of 'Jimbee' as a nickname for le Butcher, as began right here on MOTEE.
  18. No, it's $20 off for every $75 you spend. So if you spend $149.99, you get $20 off. But if you spend $150-$224.99, you get $40 off. And so on. Dotmike is right. You just have to be clever about how you spend to get the maximum discount.
  19. I read the Jedi news post as meaning the line was discontinued as of this latest wave. Especially since it was in the context of listing potential Star Wars sets for January. If there were plans for one more wave of Indy in 2010, it would be odd to say at this point the 'line is to be discontinued' since that would be one full wave we haven't even heard about yet! Personally, I think they mean 'discontinued - full stop' - not 'discontinued after one more wave of set releases!'. I do agree the wording is a little vague. It would have been nice to have one final wave in January, but I think Lego is simply pouring their resources into the new licenses. That PoP looks so promising is some consolation.
  20. I've been meaning to say this since it was announced, but thanks to everyone involved for a brilliant contest! It is a spectacular way to launch the new subforum and it is so pleasing to see the involvement of a well-respected Lego group like Railbricks involved in this new initiative. And who wouldn't want a brand new Emerald Express as a prize? I'm not a train builder but I look forward to putting something in for Category 3.
  21. The 7679 Republic Fighter Tank is back at S@H - I thought this was only going to be in the US, so grab it if you haven't already. The 2 Space Police 3 exclusives are also now available - Max Security Transport for $59.99 and Squiddy's Pitstop for $69.99. Have the new wave of sets arrived in Myer yet? Myer One members get $20 off for each $75 spent until Aug 16.
  22. Wise words, Jimbee. And what a brilliant idea! LYNCH MOB! LYNCH MOB! LYNCH MOB! Honestly, aren't we past the point where reason, logic and deduction apply? All that's happened is that we're being picked off one by one. At this point I am tempted to take my bountiful hamper, Jimbee and Arin, and just disappear quietly into the forest and try our luck there. I'd rather be eaten by bears than wake up with my throat slit! At least a bear looks you in the eye before it ends your life, unlike these cowardly Council cutlets!
  23. I got two of the Town mailman figs from the second collection via BL and they have the same horrible trasnparent red quality and arm marks as the red Classic Space fig from the bag that was recently released. I wondered why Dooku looked so different when the first new magnet sets appeared, and now we know why It has really put me off these kinds of collections - including the magnet sets, battle packs and these Vintage Collections. I don't want to contaminate my regular figs with these second-best varieties! It's a shame as I would have loved the Dwarf battlepacks, I just don't want to mix them up with the regular Lego product. Here's an example of the bad colour difference from the red Classic Space fig, for those who haven't seen it :
  24. Since nothing good apart from the usual clearanced stuff or less popular sets seems to actually be available (like old Bionicle, the MM Ultra Drill Walker, Fight for the Golden Tower, Racer sets) I think this is just a sneaky promotional push. Ie, the prices are advertised at the huge discount but if everything is 'Coming Soon' and the sale ends tonight, I don't see how any of these amazing bargains are going to end up in anyone's hands Unless of course you want to fork out for sets like the Ultra Drill Walker or Golden Tower which have been half-price elsewhere at least 6 months ago!
  25. Svelte replied to JCC1004's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
I own the set, and the heads are identical in printing and colour. The manuals also list the heads in the inventory as 2x part 4550782, NOT as separate pieces.
