I still have a spare lying around somewhere... Those were the days, $150 Green Grocers, $400 Death Stars... how things change in 12 months! Incidentally, the 7747 answers your question about using the new cutout cylinder piece to make stable towers a la 10189, Siegfried. Basically rotate each iteration by 90 degrees as you ascend, stick a 4x4 circular plate over each of these sections, then run the Technic axle through the centre. Voila! You can sort of see the technique in this pic.

The 7747 Wing Turbine Transport scanned at 58.88 so I picked one of those up. The Farm is also marked at 88.88 too - permanent price reduction at Big W maybe? Not much SP3 at Big W near me yet - just the Squiddy Escape and the second-to-largest one.

Are you sure it wasn't $198? That's the before sale price. Unless its a one off error at your store I doubt this is widespread. And since there's no action or play features to put on the back of the midi-Falcon, they might as well put an inventory!

Congratulations Hinckley!
Congratulations! What a dream come true! How does Jocko feel about a move from Indiana to California though?

Thanks for the Big W update, some nice discounts there. Better than the other stores with the 'mark up then mark down' approach! Does anyone remember price re the Wind Turbine Transporter? I also think that someone will have Galactic Enforcer at $99 when it hits widespread release, for those that can wait! EDIT: New Bionicle has hit S@H as well.

My Target has nothing of the new stuff in yet. K-Mart only has a limited selection. In Sydney they're probably holding out until right before the sales! Last year the Spongebob sets sold out even before the sale started!

[Review]Death Star 10188
It's all a big mix - it took me forever to put the minifigs together! However if you spend some time sorting at the start you don't have to worry later on. astra is right, it is a great build and not repetitive unlike other large sets where you have to build 4x large complex sections (like the Taj Mahal or Eiffel Tower)

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 9B
Card games, Eleanor locked up in her cabin... all it needs is Herman's tighty-whities and a 96 sided die and it'll be just like old times Meanwhile, I better get dinner on. Chicory gratin with a cheesy bechamel sauce and pralines for dessert!

Murder! It's murder on the Emerald Express! Erds would beat me up if there was another chef-hatted sig fig anyway!

K-Mart is 2 July start date. The 1600 piece set is this one I think, which makes it the only really good deal of the sale. Just remember people, no deposit lay-by is your friend! You have until Xmas to pay and you can cancel at any time with only the penalty of the layby fee! This is perfect if you're a bit indecisive like me! Let's all stop in here and brag about what bargains we scored too! I plan on heading to Myer tomorrow to use the 20% and then extra 10% to see if there's anything good. Let the games begin!

This looks amazing! Great work, Stash2Sixx! It makes me actually want to choose a sig-fig now, but I'm too indecisive Cutlass Iz, any suggestions?

The K-Mart catalogue is now up. Pages 36 & 37 for Lego. 20% off. $599 for the Death Star. That's fairly underwhelming for a sale price, considering it was $630 until January. After sale price is $749. AT-OT is on page 4 at $349.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 9B
Which raises the question about where all these extra refugees passengers are going to sleep! Did we search the rest of the train yet? Maybe Max, the Cap'n and Brakes should have a look at the engines to make sure they're not tripwired with a bomb or anything. If the Town Council doesn't want us to leave, who knows what they may have done while we've been away.

It's a great issue, Joe! Thanks for stopping by and confirming the rights usage. I definitely hope the prospect of some great images encourages people to buy it (I'm in Australia so it's much faster and cheaper to get the download edition )

Myer One rewards card holders get an extra 10% off the price of toys between tomorrow and Sunday. Nice! TRU has a few deals, as below:

Yes, hewman, great to see your late Invasion entry! The Death Star is definitely a must-have for anyone seriously considering it. It's a once in a lifetime kind of set and an amazing build. So much playability! You won't regret it

I hope they haven't totally lost your 25K order! After weeks of chasing an order I placed on April 29, S@H just called to admit defeat. It's vanished! Apparently there was some error with a labelling machine for orders processed around that time and labels were incorrectly printed. They have no idea where my order is and wanted me to resubmit a very very lengthy PAB list which I didn't particularly feel like doing, and pay for it again (although they said they'd refund me immediately). Also, since I placed that order, one of the sets has sold out anyway hewman, assuming K-Mart doesn't mark up the Death Star by $100, it will probably be a 20%ish discount of around $550.

Ole Kirk's House
Thanks for sharing! This is beautiful, with the classic gable roof and the interesting corner technique on the ground floor. From the numbering I'd agree that it looks like very much like one of the limited sets given out to those who take the Insider's Tour. It reminds me of an updated version of one of the older pre-minifig houses released in the 70s, but I'd have to look at my Collecter's Guide to remember which one.

It is a little hard to find, even from the publisher's website! Here's the direct link to the digital edition. Yes, I don't think we're supposed to reproduce Brickjournal images. I personally thought SP3 looked better in the mag - it's mainly a level of solidity and detail - but Freddy is absolutely right - there is a huge spread of great Classic Space set-ups, very reminiscent of the old catalogues or Idea Book double-page spreads. Definitely worth checking out!

There are some *amazing* pictures of prelim Space Police III sets in the new issue of Brickjournal (Issue 6, Vol 2). It's well worth the small download fee. The pics make me so wistful about what the line ended up looking like!
