  1. Nothing really new, but there is a lot of reporting on these leaks now, and supposedly they are only a couple weeks away. So offical images should start showing up any day now... LEGO is so secretive about this series that I’m encouraged by the future of the series continuing, or it’s just that due to licenses that things aren’t final till the last minute... but what’s not encouraging is that all these sets, being only 2 manufacturers, could just be left over late approvals to fill a release schedule set long ago. It’s kind of ironic though, Ford and Ferrari, with such a tense history, are featured in headlines together.
  2. I think Speed Champions is only sold in certain retailers and that’s also limiting. If anyone can find sales data or a mention in a shareholders meeting that would mostly answer the question of whether they stay or go. But Ferrari has been a mainstay of LEGO so they will always have something. A lack of new manufacturers this year could be telling... But loosing a manager isn’t a big deal at LEGO. No offense, but I bet someone could just ask him how LEGO sees the brand. I bet it’s a lot more to LEGO than a series of licensed kits, and more about being associated with an industry and key brands and how that looks on legos corporate profile. After all, LEGO loves to say how they are the worlds leader in tire manufacturing... and this series reaches beyond the typical LEGO fans and that’s pure growth. But I digress, as a race car driver in real life, and a crazy career having nothing to do with racing, legos are a sort of relaxation “therapy” and speed champions are one of the only interests I have in LEGO beyond one-off special sets like the Saturn 5 and their big ships... talk about a kit that is WAY past due... We really need a new massive ship.
  3. Interesting sets, lack of licenses really is covered by the diversity of the lineup. The 911 RSR really looks different than previous 911 models, as do the 488’s, though I’m surprised we have 2 racing versions. But the 919 seems a bit like a filler, it’s just so similar to last one, despite knowing how much the real car has evolved. The focus on historic cars is really cool and classy. But as much as I’d prefer proper buildings for bigger sets, I understand the open sets have more playability. It also looks like the Ferrari Garage folds up like the porsche pits did, the ropes look like they snap onto the front of the lift. Why is it that leaked images are like ufo footage? Always low res, phones don’t even have resolutions so low :P
  4. It is an interesting thought about how much it will look like the older 911’s. I mean it can’t change much or it’ll be to inconsistent with the brand, but at the same time, the old ones are 2 years old now...
  5. The RSR is the new mid engines 911 that runs in the US IMSA series. The motor needed to be moved in from the traditional rear configuration so they could put a large rear defuser. Porsche had a major aero disadvantage otherwise. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/los-angeles-auto-show/a31586/this-is-porsches-mid-engined-911-rsr/
  6. That’s a wonderful build, but what’s good about LEGO ideas is it inspires Offical LEGO. Like the classic rally cars, great builds, LEGO won’t “steel” them but the popularity of the ideas builds might have convinced them to do a licensed rally car. The ideas garage I saw had the 250 and FFX I think? But the name “dream garage” definitely points to new and old so it’s very likely we’ll see some of that other ideas garage inspiration in the incoming kit.
  7. 2 cars makes sense if the Garage is a proper building and not just a cut-away. Many great Mocs for a Ferrari garage have popped up over at LEGO ideas. I’m really curious if it would be done up enough to reside next to the other LEGO buildings. The cars are the right scale, but for $99? Including license? Can it afford to be enclosed? I guess we’ll see soon enough.
  8. Nice, I was just asking the best place to learn about speed champs and Brick Fan referenced this thread ;D https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-speed-champions-2018-reported-set-names/ They are pretty selective with posting rumors so they might have a second source they cross referenced before making a posting.
  9. If the 250 is anything like the moc on LEGO ideas it will be pretty awesome. They did a fantastic job on the 918, they know how to find a few of those iconic lines with bricks :)
  10. Thanks! Super happy to be learning of these from you!
  11. Ok, setup an account just to reply. I’m only into the LEGO champions series and now that this list and spy shot appeared my concerns are gone. The shop seems inspired by one of the LEGO ideas kits, that looks amazing. But I’m really curious how they are going to update the RSR and 488 GT3... no F1 is a bit surprising. Is there anyplace else online that talks about this series of legos and leaks?
