  1. I like that the battery box is made to look like cargo, instead of being hidden away, taking up valuable space. Don't know why I have never considered it, lol, as it enables one to make smaller vehicles.
  2. Coming along nicely, it is certainly huge, can't wait to see it finished.

Looks good, also looks like it was a challenging build. Curious why it is 7-wide, I am guessing it has to do with scale, anyway great job.
  4. Man, for a minute, I thought the front was the back because of the tire orientation. Looks good and fun.
  5. So it will be second half of year release, presumably delayed for a rework, parts reduction, in order to reduce the price. Still it will have 2 hubs and 8 motors, do I have that right? Also there will be a large number of new 3x17 frames?
  6. This looks very good but I think the hood is too flat and makes the car look, not quite right.
  7. I kind of doubt it, too big and the shape is all wrong..
  8. Wow, I didn't realize I'd spent that much in the past couple of months, lol.
  9. All things aside, as someone that is trusted to work in homes, without the home owner around, some very high end ones at that. If that person were in my employ, I would without hesitation, let that person go, period. May sound harsh but trust is huge in my business and can make or break you. Maybe at least contact the company that employs them and see what they say. Having said that, accidents of course happen and are forgivable, trust on the other hand is very difficult to gain, once lost.
  10. Hmm, interesting, my first technic set after emergence from my lengthy dark age. Perhaps I have come full circle and no longer have use for new sets, that aren't completely innovative.
  11. If you want the canopy to sit flush with the opening, simply omit the 1x6 plate, step 4, page 8. Instead put two 1x1 plates where the ends of the 1x6 would have been, one at each end. You can easily do this after the model is completely built with minimal parts removal. You do have to be careful though as afterwards, you can easily push the canopy in too far but it certainly looks better. I have been messing around with this set quite a lot and can hopefully come up with a better solution, since I am not 100% satisfied with this result but that unequal gap really bugged me, lol.
  12. Yes, that would be odd. I actually quite liked the McLaren, despite it's general unpopularity.
  13. I know right, a complete no brainer to me, must be a reason why they don't, other than sheer laziness, that is. Some have suggested it is because they don't work with pull-back motors as well, I have found no such issues though and those tires just look right on monster truck builds.
  14. One of my all time favorite games and I would say you nailed it, especially for the size, great work.
  15. Maybe something along the lines of the new UCS Hogwarts express, A giant train but not really a train, more of a diorama prop.
  16. Ah, I see, thanks for clearing that up.
  17. Funny you say that, as I don't really see ideas as a theme so much, like Star Wars or Ninjago, where you want to get all the sets of a particular wave. I have always considered it more of an amalgamation of many themes, offering one off sets of existing themes. Although ideas has come up with many great sets and I wish I had far more of them than I do, like you, price is a major consideration, as I am just a simple laborer and will never be rich.
  18. I was thinking about doing the same thing with the claw, replace it with the one from the Material Handler, as I was never happy with the way it operates. Do you think it makes a big difference, or are they pretty much the same?
  19. That's the way it looks to me as well, set that will likely retire soon, end of year maybe, did not get a price increase, the ones that will likely still be available, after the first of the year, get treated with a healthy price increase. As far as further discussion, I am not sure there is a specific thread, more like random observations in various topics.
  20. Funnily enough, I really don't care for the set, maybe as a parts pack but it really does nothing for me. So many people seem to really like it though, so I accept that maybe it's just me and say nothing.
  21. It's there and definitely worth checking out, are you browsing with your phone? I have to turn my phone sideways, for sigs to show up.

Hilarious, how do you even dig up such an old thread?
  23. I like this as well as the source, good job. It would be nice to see the pile of leftover parts next to it, extra points for using as many pieces as possible. Thanks for sharing. I haven't pick up this set yet but it is great to see what others have done with it already, one of my favorite things to build are B models of these small to medium sets. The blue Turbo Track Racer is one of my all time favorite set for this.
  24. Either linkages and gears, or motors on each wheel, without knowing what or how dense the build is between wheels it would be hard to say which is best. You really need to see the big picture to decide.
  25. And finished the DB5, honestly not that impressed with the build either, I dare say another of my least favorite SC offerings. Both builds start out good enough but quickly feels like the designer just went through the motions, the stickers are exceptionally crappy, on the DB5, I do however love the part selection and will likely buy multiple copies just for them. Not sure why I dislike these two sets so much, are they really that bad? It feels more like building someone elses moc, than an official LEGO set. Hopefully this is a one off thing and Speed Champions returns to it's once former glory. I do feel that the golden age of SC has passed, always liked them for the interesting build techniques and relative inexpensive prices. I will be watching with great interest, next years offerings, another price hike with these sort of builds could sour me towards future SC builds and will likely just pass on them and build my own stuff.
