Hello again, I liked the color scheme of 8638 Spy Jet Escape so I came up with a City-compliant passenger plane: Underside has the usual details: Closeup: I worked on the roof design the most. Now it comes off easily, but it is firm enough that the wings can hold the weight of the whole plane. Roof parts used allow a more dense seat configuration (compared to 3181 Passenger Plane which is favourite). Usual cockpit:

Hi, I also liked the 3677 engine. It's a pity however that the designer did not prepare it for PF lights (unlike 7939 Cargo Train) although there is more than enough room. Fortunately it is really easy to it with minor modding, let's see my approach: There is not much difference to see at first sight. If you look at the dark bluish gray window shutter you will see I added a little more dark bluish gray and the overall look is more consistent in spite of my mod: Looking from the other side reveals the connections for the two extra PF light units, look is still consistent: The relevant changes in the back: And in the front: I think it was definitely worth it and the engine is still a great design.

Hello everyone again, It seems I am the only one buying the 2012 Mine theme that's why there is no review yet for the set 4204 The Mine. So I'm going to do it so you can tell how much you hate it and the whole theme altogether. Let's see the box. It is quite big and heavy but not as huge as you would expect for the price: Contents: Instructions and sticker: There is no inventory on BrickLink yet so the list of parts might be useful: (Image is link to hi-res picture) (Image is link to hi-res picture) (Image is link to hi-res picture) New parts and colors: The finished semitrailer: At first I thought it was a design flaw when the rear window came off with the roof but according to the instructions this was intended and actually it works perfectly. It is interesting that the roof is brick-built although the usual roof wedge has been available for very long in green. It looks good though and interior also has a little more detail than usual: The trailer looks nice and normal when connected: Then you see the unusual connection. TLG designers used to have a realistic connection there which breaks often, this one is completely unrealistic but extremely robust. It is difficult to tell which aspect is more important, maybe some day someone comes up with a connection that has both. The stands have a new design also, it is very simple but I think it is both realistic and robust: Now the next vehicle, the drill. To be honest I have no idea if real machines with similar build exist but as far as TLG design is concerned it is robust but a little <insert that tiresome argument>. Moreover having a mug in an open cockpit is not realistic at all: The simple play feature is there, rotate the drill: Next the first part of the scenery construction, a hole in the rocks and a single-use conveyor: Dynamite overload and the overused warning sign: A comfortable entry to the mine, who knows why: The remaining part of the scenery, another hole in the rocks with rails, the crane and train. The rails are surprisingly long: I think the nicest parts are the narrow-gauge train and the security door: Unusual but effective build of the crane: Angle is fixed: The whole scene: Extra parts: Verdict Design: 8/10 Designer managed to grasp many important scenes in a typical mine successfully but nothing extraordinary. Build: 8/10 It was more exciting than for usual City sets thanks to some surprising details. Playability: 8/10 Options are just enough for such a big set. Minifigs: 10/10 Mining minifigs are just great. Parts: 6/10 Not so exciting, few new parts or colors for a big set, too many single-use parts. Overall: 8/10 if I try to be objective and measure within the City theme, for all others hating mine in general and hating the biggest mine set the most of course it is 0/10. Hello again, I promised to add more MOCs very long ago but I was busy - right, building MOCs. But now I'll give you a LOT. First a light cargo plane. I always liked the greenish color scheme of 7733 and 7734 and I needed parts with the right stickers: (Image is link to gallery) I could achieve a very low build using a car base: There is plenty of cargo room: Next let me show you my version of the popular VW Beetle: (Image is link to gallery) Unfortunately there was no place for a steering wheel: I was missing taxis for a long time but I love the color scheme and stickers since they came out with 7937 Train Station. The problem was though that no normal low car could seat two minifigures, I came up with a long version but the ultimate solution was using the new roof wedge part that came out in 2012, this is the result: (Image is link to gallery) I could not resist to build a taxi based on the VW van from 4207 City Garage, here is the result: (Image is link to gallery) There is room for the driver and two passengers and even for a suitcase: The next truck's color scheme might appear a little unrealistic but there is a reason why. (Image is link to gallery). The reason is that it is actually a remake of the classic 685 Legoland Truck with Trailer, does anyone remember this? Side by side: Doors work almost exactly like in 7733 which is my personal favourite. Cargo is of course LEGO: I stop here before post gets too long and continue soon.

Hello City Fans, I have time for another review and fortunately I got most of the Mine series relatively early. So let's see 4203 Excavator Transporter from 2012! Box from relevant angles: The box is surprisingly small considering the long trailer. Contents after unboxing: Sticker sheet. I don't like transparent stickers like these as it is almost impossible to put them on without any visible bubbles remaining under them. Parts lists in the instructions, it might be relevant now as inventory is not available yet on bricklink: New colors (or at least rare): This is only new for the new City Mine theme and comes from Power Miners: The excavator "naked", no stickers yet. Actually the stickers add some detail but it looks good without too: Finished model. I didn't give steps as instructions are available to download). Everything fits on the trailer so it can be stored very compactly. Spare parts (may be important again as bricklink has no inventory yet): The excavator: The main play feature of the model: This construction holds the excavator very tightly: I decided to compare this set with the most similar one from earlier, namely 7633 Construction Site. It is hard to tell which is better really. But I must say I always liked the use of green that was almost completely missing in sets before 2000: But when comparing the excavator with one of similar size, namely 7248 Digger from 2005 when TLG dark ages just almost ended the verdict is quite obvious to me: The new excavator is much more realistic and not for the new elements: "Ok, now we both turn around. OMG, what's wrong with you?". I really hope the designer was fired for this: Verdict: Design: 10/10 Simple but effective design for a normal City set. Build: 6/10 Nothing exciting, no sign of any new idea. Playability: 8/10 Drilling rocks, rotating the excavator, changing bucket to drill, transporting the excavator, adequate for such a set but no new idea. Minifigs: 10/10 Nice new prints. Parts: 10/10 Great new colors, especially the green. Overall: 9/10 Mainly for the lack of new build idea, but still worth buying for City fans, especially who like construction scenes. Hello City Lovers, I found no review for 4409 Fire Plane so I decided to make my own, maybe it helps someone to decide whether to buy (and if so how many). Unboxing: Sticker sheet. I think sticker for flaps does not add much detail. Moreover I find round stickers quite annoying as their form makes them extra difficult to position correctly. New parts. Clever reuse of seemingly single-use parts that were originally Formula 1 car noses (in Cars sets). The finished build. I skipped the build steps as instructions are available anyway. I did not like the fact that the original designer put the engines too far from the hull but it was easy to correct this by a bit of reordering parts. The brick-built trees are really great: Nice details in the cockpit: And even fake water tanks are there: The water drop mechanism: The gears are only there to avoid the door open by its own weight, the second gear with the blue locking Technic pin adds enough traction. Unfortunately it very much looks like an extra addition to a final design after it turned out that the door won't hold and it looks quite ugly this way. The Fire Jeep looks awesome: And in addition it has tools that are easily recognisable, realistic and playable, a water pump and a chainsaw: Now a little story: A small quiet lake in the woods with an unsuspecting diver when fires start nearby: Diver spots the plane: "I'll better submerge quickly!" Will he make it? It does not seem so: Soon he founds himself in a burning tree: Actually there was such a story circulating for a while but it turned out to be an urban legend: The Body of a SCUBA Diver is Found on the Scene of a Forest Fire Verdict: Design: 8/10 The plane (and certainly the Jeep also) are beautiful and robust but I consider the misplaced engines and the ugly external gears design flaws. Build: 10/10 Working Technic parts on the plane and less usual parts on the Jeep make build more interesting for a normal City set. Playability: 10/10 No question that this is one of the most playable City sets. It has one thing but it makes it very well. Minifigs: 10/10 The new firefighter and pilot uniforms (and one of the pilots even being a woman!) makes this set even more interesting. Parts: 10/10 Some new parts, great parts to build cars and planes and even different kinds of trees, very good assortment for an average City set. Overall: 10/10 For many reasons a set definitely worth buying except if your City layout completely excludes the possibility of forest fires. Thanks for reading!

Hi All, I decided to get into the review business. I generally like to read reviews that help to decide what is worth buying. Therefore I'll try to give the maximum amount of information I would expect from a review. It seems I am the first to review the 2012 set 4436 Patrol Car on Eurobricks, I was lucky to obtain it so early. So let's get started with the box: Box contents: Sticker sheet: Parts: New parts: New colors: Let the build start: Minifig close-up: Building the barrier: Building the car: Spare parts: Finished set (without stickers yet) and remaining pages of instructrions: Parts list close-up: Finished model from different angles (no stickers yet for those who prefer not to apply them): Stickers applied: I was curious: will it fit? Unfortunately not, the problem is width: And length also: A simple scene: Criminal seems to have escaped, barrier is down, Obese Officer won't follow without the car. Criminal does not care about the warning sign: But criminal has to make a tough decision soon: an overweight officer is still a better company than an overweight teddy bear: They both fit easily into the car - at last! Car base has always been enough for two minifigs for a long time, only the optimal roof part was missing: Verdict Here comes the difficult part, there are so many aspects... I'll try with the usual categories: Design: 10/10 I think both the car and the barrier look realistic, car has great proportions. They are quite robust too. A balanced city set. Build: 6/10 Nothing interesting, no sign of any clever build ideas, easy for kids, does not get boring for adults either as it is ready so quickly. Playability: 8/10 It has not been possible to arrest a criminal and seat to the back of a normal car until now, this is a great improvement. On the other hand this is about all, I don't know what the barrier should add to the play experience aside from what I pictured on the scene. Minifigs: 6/10. 10/10 for the new ranger outfit, and 2/10 for the criminal in the often criticised prisoner outfit. We want real criminals in usual LEGO-like stereotypical outfits (they actually have a gangster rapper among the collectible minifigs already), not losers who prepare for imprisonment right at the start when doing crime... Parts: 10/10 A couple of new parts and new colors in a relatively cheap set. By the way I won't take price into account as it varies so much. Hi again! First an answer on this: I did not test them very long, but they seemed to be usable. It runs a little noisy so you can hear it is different but otherwise quite stable, maybe also due to the low center of mass. It is important that couplings can also move freely in a relatively wide range so that curved tracks and switches are no problem and they should be at the right level so they works with traditional train cars and engines. Failing on either of them will result in derailing because of forces in undesired directions. Now some more new creations: First I want to share a complete train MOC with you.
