I don't know about rare pieces but I have the original X-Wingthatthey released and a myriad of Magnatron & other early 90's space sets.

I have one of the original release X-Wing sets that was left (partially assembled) in an attic for 15+ years. None of the pieces seemed brittle but the pieces don't have quite the same "snap" when connecting bricks that a brand new set still has.

My desk is decorated with 2 things; Star Wars & Legos. Don't really discuss it much with others but people know I'm a fan.

I only keep a couple sets built at a time and return the rest to ziploc bags until I rotate them back out.
