Port for Imperial Flagship
Great job! I especially like the "mountain" behind the ship because of the different slope bricks you used. I also really like the 1x1 circle tiles for the stones on the street. Your attention to details gives the port a very realistic look.

HMS Surprise
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! This ship is modeled after the French corvette L'Unité, which was captured by the British and famously captained by (Sir) Edward Hamilton. (I think that Patrick O'Brien used the same ship) Anyway, the ship is based on these plans: click here Do you have any suggestion as to how to make it appear less bulky? (In widening the hull, I might increase the angle of the tumblehome which might help)

Hello Beastie
I think that the details on the Black Pearl and the Kraken's mouth are amazing! Great job I really like that you depicted this scene by building a detailed section of the ship showing the activity of the crew. Well done!

HMS Surprise
Thanks Captain Becker! The helm has thread wrapped around the piece between the two wheels which is shown in this picture: The thread goes below the deck (on both the left and right side of the helm) and is tied to a chain which pulls the rudder. So when the helm rotates clockwise, the rudder is pulled to the left (if you were looking at the stern) which happens because the thread is pulled on the left side and released on the right side.

Flagship "Den Roode Dood"
I think that this is a great looking ship, and it is nice and refreshing to see a well built galleon! I especially like the stern chaser! Well done! In thinking about your paper sail problem (which I know you can't add since you have taken the ship apart) you might try to make the sails on a future vessel out of a cloth material. I cut up a t-shirt for the sails of my HMS Surprise, and the end result looks a lot better than paper. You might have seen this, but Admiral Croissant created an excellent tutorial about making detailed and realistic sails. Click here

MOC's at Star Wars Event Legoland Germany 2011
Wow! I really like the amount of detail in the Death Star trench, and the Tatooine landscape is amazing! The builders really did a great job of working in different scales!

HMS Surprise
Thanks! The ship is at a slight angle and the sails are angled toward the camera. Thanks for your compliments and helpful suggestions Admiral! I plan to adjust the ship and I'll upload photos when finished. Thanks! I'll work on the bow. Oh, and here are a few more (resized) pictures: The Captain's cabin Crew firing the carronades on the gun deck. The chimney The captain, Sir Edward Hamilton climbing into a boat The stern details a photo of the quarter deck and helm The capstan (which actually raises and lowers the anchors, notice the thread) An image of an anchor and the bow (I plan to adjust the bow and headrails) This shows the helm and how the thread which attaches to the anchor chain. Athena, the figurehead (who kinda looks like a conquistador rather than a Greek Goddess...oh well) And finally.... The HMS Surprise under full sail!

HMS Surprise
Thanks a lot! Thanks! I'll put more up! The brickshelf gallery is available so you can view more pictures there. Thanks! I'll resize the photos and add more to this page. Also, thanks for your helpful suggestions. I agree that the bow looks angular and wonder if you have any specific suggestions as to how to make the bow more round?

HMS Surprise
104 A I'm new on Eurobricks and have finished my first frigate: the HMS Surprise. The ship is armed with 24 32 pound carronades, 10 18 pound carronades, and 2 4 pound chase guns. The ship features a working helm and capstan along with a removable deck. I designed the ship using plans and other images found online. When the folder becomes public, you can view more pictures here Furled sails Broadside! Due to the upload size and quota, I can't put any more photos in this post, but I'll post more photos later. If you have any comments, suggestions or questions please let me know!

Oliver Chappel - " I'M SUPPOSED TO FIGHT ALL THESE BLOODY ZOMBIES.......WITH A FISH!?" 2 points This made me laugh because it seems like something that Jack would say in a situation as ridiculous as this! It also explains why Jack has a look of bewilderment and frustration on his face. Maellie Colombet - Jack to the zombies: "Who among you is the father of this fish? Worthy father, I admit, considering the sculptural scales of the offspring. Or married to a mermaid maybe? But please, spare me the image of this view, do not tell me that the Kraken was your partner..." 1 point I also like this one because it is a witty response to the situation.
