  1. Is by that definition a roller coaster a vehicle? Are illegal building techniques allowed?
  2. We see enough super cars etc. This is really original. Love the seats.
  3. Thanks guys, I'll get myself an Xbox controller
  4. Not really a building question, but also not worth opening separate topic: Is there a (most likely not Lego) device capable of controlling two (or more) Control+ hubs? Something like a Playstation controller. I really hate having to use my phone to use the Control+ hubs for multiple reasons: building Lego is for me a way to NOT be on computer or phone for a few hours, I might need the phone to take pictures, I hate configuring these apps, but most of all: I want physical buttons to feel like I'm controlling my MOC. I know you can use the BrickController2 App with a Playstation controller, but I'm really looking for a standalone solution. So something like this, but on steroids:
  5. Soon we'll need a lawyer to write the contest rules ;-) But joking aside, that's a very clear rule.
  6. I like these kinds of builds that show a lot of "out of the box" thinking. Very original work.
  7. Ah, a man of culture! You're right about that, the diameter is too small so probably putting more stress on the wheels which will limit their effectiveness. Also I've learned how important it is to make sure that the track should not move (it still does at that point). All energy that goes to track moving is wasted. For v2 I'm thinking about trying to recreate (more or less) Oblivion from Alton Towers.
  8. Thanks for the feedback. Next project will be Roller Coaster v2. From what I've learned building this I think there's still a lot of room for improving the system so that a more realistic one should be possible.
  9. Warning: If you are easily upset by illegal building techniques turn back now! About three decades after my first attempt I finally managed to create a roller coaster using Technic. Like a real roller coaster it's "gravity powered", though I couldn't make it to run a full round without the "booster" in the middle. Station: Top of the lift hill: First hill / turn: This was probably one of the hardest pieces, creating a "backbone" in a way that the track would follow this nice curved decent: Entering the booster section: S-bend after the booster: Same location, different angle: On the final hill: Last small hill, last turn, and back in the station: Front car, inspired by one of my all time favorite roller coaster: And this is how the wheels look: Video! https://player.vimeo.com/video/909478768?h=fca928686e
  10. Happy to see you've time for Lego again; hope to see the model at Lego World!
  11. Thanks. I didn't count but it's certainly a lot more parts than the Liebherr.
  12. Instead of buying the overpriced Liebherr I decided to make my own giant crawler crane. It's just a generic one, not based on a specific model. - Three XL motors in the bottom for left/right drive, and rotation of upper structure. - Three L motors above the turntable: raising long boom, raising upper boom, winch. - Up to about 2.2 meter. - Driving is a bit sluggish and the lower boom has the tendency to move a bit sideways when turning. Apart from that it works suprisingly well (given that I had never build something close to this size). (I'm well aware my camera is pretty bad, sorry for that).
  13. Building one now and also like it a lot. Really interesting mechanics. However I do have a question, what is the idea behind the new gears (https://rebrickable.com/parts/69779/technic-gear-20-tooth-with-axle-hole-opening/ and https://rebrickable.com/parts/69778/technic-gear-12-tooth-with-axle-hole/ )? Then don't seem to add any value; they are just the same as the 20 and 12 tooth bevel gears but with less flexibility. Only reason I could think of why TLG should still make gears without "bevel" should be for chains, or am I missing something here?
  14. Impressive how you managed to get so much functionality in there!
