I got irrationally annoyed at that part of the video. “Hey guys, look how awesome this can look - all you have to do is give us twice as much money.” Really like this modular although agree with others about the book shop interior. Was hoping for more of a jumbled, Old Fishing Store vibe. The exterior is so good though!

If that mech doesn’t have an alternate build as the classic JP Ford Explorer I will weep hot tears of disappointment. So close!

My guess (and we really don’t know anything about DA yet) is that any substantial take on Diagon Alley would cost a lot more than Great Hall. So factor that in to your decision. Sidebar: I was surprised Great Hall didn’t cost more, given the part count, number of minifigs and the fact licensed sets carry a premium. It felt like pretty good value to me.

I’m in the process of building the Hogwarts Express 75955 and finding it a great set, with the exception of the station clock. The parts used for the clock hands are so chunky and look ridiculous - has anyone found an alternative? Has Lego ever done proper clock hands?

I keep wondering when the Dursleys are going to make an appearance. I was really surprised they weren't in the CMF series, as they're such essential characters to the stories (much more than Cho Chang or Dean Thomas, imho). Also, weren't they on some early leaked list? My hope is for either on a Privet Drive set at some point, or the Dursleys included in a second CMF series next year. I would also love to see Aunt Marge as a minifigure, both regular and inflated versions please Lego.

Hi all. Is there any news on where the Bricktober pack will be stocked in the UK and US (where TRU is sadly no more)? I just saw the leaked photos on Insta and I am READY to add it to my collection.

It’s all speculation at this stage but - like any corporation - I expect Lego’s future plans will be driven by their bottom line. It would be sensible for them to plan 2-3 initial waves to take in key plot points from the books/movies, keep fans happy, but most importantly to gauge the market. If they see HP as a big money-spinner that can create surplus for other projects, I could see them making it an ongoing line. I would love that to happen but at the same time I doubt any decision’s been made yet. I chatted to the manager of my local Lego Store about it. He told me it was their busiest launch in years, most sets were sold out on day one, and they took £3500 in the first hour after opening (a lot for a smallish regional branch). All of which sends a great message to Billund. But that was the launch and Lego willl likely base any decision on total sales figures. So it will be interesting to see if there is continued momentum in sales and interest (one week after launch, my local store had all sets back in stock including Great Hall). I’m also really interested to see how the d2c sells, as I guess that’s Lego’s bellwether test on how strong the adult collector market is. I have everything crossed HP is here to stay!

It could be a Boutique Hotel. Ground floor lobby and restaurant/bar, then two floors of rooms, and of course a rooftop pool. Actually, have Lego ever done a swimming pool? That would be cool.

Same. I used to be awash with spare batarangs; now it's wands. Ollivanders would be the perfect set to chuck them all into.

I had an awesome time building this set (mainly because I'd been coveting it since the first photos emerged), and I'm happy with the finished build. I'm not mad keen on the small brickwork stickers on the large wall pieces as I don't think they're going to age very well. But to be fair, I can't think how else Lego could get the slightly tumble-down look you need for Hogwarts without using a load more bricks and raising the price point. So I can live with it. I also had been slightly worried about the 'floating candles' mechanic as I felt the use of black parts stuck out like a sore thumb in the promo shots. But the candles do add a nice effect (and floating candles are a pretty essential feature of the Great Hall). I totally agree with other posters about the awfulness of the basilisk (my eyes!) and Fawkes is no oil painting either! I'd trade both of them in for a ruff for NH Nick and cloaks for the faculty. But hey, that's what Bricklink's for. Other than those minor gripes, I'm really pleased with how the set looks, especially when it's connected to the Whomping Willow. My biggest problem is that it's too tall for the shelves on my Lego display case, so if anyone has any good ideas for how you plan to display Hogwarts (which, let's face it, is only going to get bigger), I'd love to hear them!

Around five years ago, my mother was moving house and asked me to sift through the contents of my childhood bedroom to decide what I wanted to keep, donate to charity, etc. Among the old books and plastic dinosaurs was my big red box of Lego from the 80s and 90s. I hadn't kept any of the boxes, but I found I still had the instructions for a large number of Castle and Pirates sets. I knew there was a collector's market for old sets so I thought, I'll take these home and who knows, maybe I can make a bit of money from them. Big mistake! Of course to work out whether the sets were complete or had parts missing, I told myself, I would first have to build them. I spent a good week sat on the floor, searching through that big red box and painstakingly assembling 6090 Royal Knight's Castle, 6078 Royal Drawbridge and 6086 Black Knight's Castle. I even had the hull and masts for 6285 Black Seas Barracuda, but sadly Captain Redbeard and most of his crew had not survived the Millennium. As I built, I remembered how much enjoyment I used to get from my Lego creations and I decided to go online for a look at how the sets had changed since the 90s and what their new sets looked like. Another big mistake! I was immediately captivated by the variety of the CMF line (then around series 10), and realised I had some catching up to do if I was going to collect every single one (thanks, eBay!). Then the Lego Movie came out and of course I had to collect all the sets from that, and from there it wasn't long until I bought my first modular and passed the point of no return. I hate to think of how much I've spent on Lego since then (not such a great money-making scheme after all!), but I get a huge amount of enjoyment from it and can't imagine ever having another Dark Age. Especially if TLG keep pumping out Harry Potter sets...

I've seen a couple of images of an Ollivander minifigure on Instagram. Does anyone have any info on that? Sorry if this has already been discussed. I'm new to the forum.
