Technic 2023 Set Discussion
keymaker replied to Dami's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYou may be right. I have never spent more than 330 € on one set and I'm not going to, so it is like half of the price TLG will want for this set. And at the end, I'm just seeing this set as a part pack, so I hope it will have some nice parts which I will be able to pick up separately from lego store or bricklink.

Technic 2023 Set Discussion
keymaker replied to Dami's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingTo be honest I am super curious what is the reason of such high price. The only reasonable is the presence of electronics, but even then, what electronic it would be...42100 had a ton of electronics, ton of parts and still, price around what, 400 € ?

42122 Cable Skidder
keymaker replied to M_longer's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGod damn you are good in those alternative models :D I also plan to do something with this set, but it will be very serious modification and motorization instead of B/C/D modeling.

42146 - Liebherr LR13000
keymaker replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe price for this is monstrous and I still treating this as only potential part pack. But analyzing all those information we have already, from part pack POV I can say we have chance for at least one or two new parts and some recolors (new 19 stud frame in yellow).

[MOC] Trial Truck 6x6 [free building instructions]
keymaker replied to keymaker's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you. I haven't test it on slopes, since the main goal was to be able to withstand mud, sand and quite deep water.

42154 - 2022 Ford GT
keymaker replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAfter second thought I think it is not that useful...but we'll see. I still don't think this part will allow me to prepare narrow independent suspension, but I hope I will find good use for them.

[MOC] TATRA 8x8 Trial Truck V2
keymaker replied to HorcikDesigns's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGreat trucks, great shots, I simply love it. I'm still gathering experience building smaller models, but I think this is my ultimate goal to build capable trial truck in this scale which will be able to compete in such championships. BTW where can I find more info about this red truck with hubs made from big turntables (visible for example on last video at 0:53)? I wish to take a closer look at this solution.

42146 - Liebherr LR13000
keymaker replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt depends on what group of people you consider as "us". But in some sense you may be right. Because as far as I know, in case of numbers of people in particular groups, I think it looks like this: people who collect Lego sets, build them and putting on shelf >> people, who buy sets to use it in their MOCs So based on this, I would say you are in the first group which is larger that second group. For me I don't know if I will buy it, it strongly depends on what parts it will contain, because I'm pretty sure I do not need next crane on my shelf. I have one on my shelf - my beloved set from childhood - 8460 - and it is all I need from this category :)

How many models of yours are WIP?
keymaker replied to Jundis's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@Jundis if you mention Sariel, you should also be aware about number of tools he provides for AFOLs, one of them is MOC Manager - http://mocs.sariel.pl/ I think this tool can help you out with organizing many MOCs. In my case, I have already 3 MOCs planned in my head and 4th is emerging, so yea... Many plans but so little time. But for me I try to finish current MOC before I fully get involved the next one. Finishing the MOC for me is the moment I publish it.

Nico71's Creations
keymaker replied to nico71's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe model is beautifully designed both from inside and outside but what I want to mention is choose of colours. If I remember correctly is not the first time you choose such mix and I have to say, it has something in it. Four different colours, highly contrasting yet not overly bright - they create great look and I love it.

[MOC] Trial Truck 6x6 [free building instructions]
keymaker replied to keymaker's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you and other people for kind words :) I do not have plans to add steering to the rear axle. And the rules deciding which MOC will be featured on main site and which doesn't are completely beyond my understanding, but quoting famous Palpatine sentence: "A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one" :D

[MOC] Trial Truck 6x6 [free building instructions]
keymaker replied to keymaker's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBuwizz is a 3rd party equipment, it serves for power and remote control. But to steer the truck you need PF servo or C+ L motor or whatever Lego motor you have and know how to use for the purpose of steering.

[MOC] Trial Truck 6x6 [free building instructions]
keymaker replied to keymaker's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBecause PF servo motor was present only in 3 sets where one of them was in limited edition. And all of them are around ten years old. Buwizz 2.0 behind the cabin. But you can use any hardware you want, to drive, steering and controlling the truck. It is easy as it gets in this truck

[MOC] Trial Truck 6x6 [free building instructions]
keymaker replied to keymaker's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingEach axle has own drive shaft connected directly to axle for maximum efficiency. And all of them are connected to axles at an angle for better GC and ramp angle. Rear axles are connected via upper common links and single bottom links. The last axle also has a panhard rod. I need to to prepare render of internals, then it will be better visible. I decided to use cardans and 5,5 stud axle to have better angle and to be sure, that no matter what, I do not lose the wheel even in rough terrain. It doesn't look good, but when you play outside, it doesn't really matter. And you can always use 3 studs axles for better look (I did it for photos and indoor part of the video)

[MOC] Trial Truck 6x6 [free building instructions]
Hi, I hesitated if I even should post this MOC here since it is so simple but at the end here I am. I created this truck mostly to have some fun outdoors. It has minimal amount of features and its main goal is to drive over not so pleasant terrain, like sand, mud, snow and even quite deep water. And I can do that without fears, that drivetrain will jamm, gears will skip, motors will get wet and at the end I won't have desire to clean all this mess up. I also very like the closing mechanism of "differentials" covers. It is simple, effective, works like a charm and has satisfying click when closing. This Truck is also testing ground for a couple of solutions I wanted to try out, like drive shafts connected to the axles at the angle, steering controlled by rod or way of suspension for both front and rear axles. Nevertheless please enjoy the video, use the instruction and check some details below if you want to know more. Instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-136120/keymaker/trial-truck-6x6-rc/#details Some details and main functions: dimensions LxWxH: 37,5x13x15cm weight: 1132g 6x6 drive (3xPF L motors) steering (PF servo) suspension on all axles completely secure bottom of the truck with panels easy access to all "differentials" via openable covers Couple of highlights why this truck can be fun to build and to play with: Drivetrain - it is very solid, so you won't hear skipping gears, if wheels aren't spinning, then you either broke some part or stalled motors. It is also super easy to use different gear ratio or different number (1/2/3), type (M/L/XL) or even technology of motors (PF/C+). What is more, removing all electronics takes only couple of minutes and truck is ready to taking the shower to clean all evidence of you off-road madness Construction - it is very rigid and solid, you can lift it up by almost any part of the frame and body Off-Road Design - all gears are protected so you don't have to be afraid that they will jamm due to sand, mud, snow, stones etc. And even if something get inside "differentials", it is super easy to open covers and clean this up. Last but definitely not the least - ability to drive through deep water - UP TO 8CM! It over half of the height of the truck. 8cm of water and your electronics is still safe. Internals of the truck: P.S. I know it is rather ugly, but it brings fun! :)

Technic Parts We Would Find Useful
keymaker replied to gyenesvi's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOh yeah, this IS the missing gem in TLG collection. We have small one, we have big one, there is high time for the medium size version of such rim.

Technic Parts We Would Find Useful
keymaker replied to gyenesvi's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt looks great. I know all this parts are wishful thinking. I see that this small hub is probably not possible to crate simply because lack of space. There is no enough room there to have port for CV joint which would be in hub with ball connectors for swing and steering arms. There is simply no room for all of this. Maybe this is the reason that basically there are no parts for small, driven, steered and independent suspensions.

Technic Parts We Would Find Useful
keymaker replied to gyenesvi's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have those parts in my hands at the moment, I know what I am talking about :) 3 studs steering arm just next to standard 30mm rim (56145 or 56904) will rub (and I am talking about "shallow side"). The same goes with new 30mm rim (42716) even with 1 stud distance used between rim and the part. But to be more clear, the part I proposed, without any offset to the rim, but with 3 studs long steering arm as you proposed - will rub. No question about it. The part you proposed, exactly as showed, with some offset, I think it is one stud there, will not rub when connected to the standard 30mm rim on shallow side. But the whole point, or at least very important aspect of such hub, is to have pivot point as close to the center of the rim as possible. You part, with unremovable offset, is killing this idea. Quite simply, the part which will move steering links will be in the front of the links, so lets say in that order: 1 line: axle, 2 line: steering links, 3 line: steering rack or whatever you wan to use to move steering links. Second thing is problem of distance of steering links to the diff or gears. The solution here is also simple - shorter steering links :) They ware mentioned here multiple times. I agree.

Technic Parts We Would Find Useful
keymaker replied to gyenesvi's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, no :) Options 2, 3 and 4 are for medium and big rims, where there is more support needed besides the axle - pins. And in this category there is I would say some usefull choice of already available parts with great Wheel Hub with Planetary Gear Reduction. And because of that I think there is no chance for such kind of new part in nearest feature (last option is great, but the same thing you can have with mentioned new wheel hub with some sort of small, new, and very usefull also in other places conector with tow ball holder - such parts were already mentioned here). The first option won't work neither with standard nor with new 30mm rims because of simple reason - steering arm will rub the rim. If you have those parts and rims in hand, check it, you will see. That is why this is my suggestion, great both for small sport and off-road cars:
