What's happening with Technic?
Jundis replied to Amt0571's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLike the Dune Ornithopter from this year, the next years new DaVinci Flying Machine (10363) will be technically more interesting than all the shown Technic models shown so far... That is the thing I don't understand: So many Lego Themes are shining again, while Technic, being one of the biggest themes, seem to decline and losing its core strength. I get that cars sell well, but then reintroduce the Racers Theme please and give the technic nerds some functional stuff instead that deserve the Technic brand name.

42203 Tipping Dump Truck
Jundis replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAt least in brickmerge, the 8052 did cost 69€ in 2010, which, including inflation, equals 100€ in 2024, so twice the price of the 42203. But I agree with you, that only steering and tipping function (and doors) is a bit poor for a 50€ set, as these are the same functions as the 42147 for 10€... Overall, it looks nice and for a discount with a price of 40€, this is a really nice parts pack :-)

2025 Technic Sets Discussion
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThen just post in the Future Wishes thread and start with "For 2025 I wish..." Problem solved When we get the same amount of models in 2025, surely there is room for 8...10 non-car sets

[TC27] Transport truck with crane
Hi guys and gals, first of, I couldn't find a suitable translation or description for the german word "Baustofftransporter", meaning a truck for transporting construction material like wood, stone, and so on. So if anybody has a fitting word, please let me know, so I can change the title :D @gyenesvi Thx! The model I am planning to build for TC27 has long been lurking on my to-do-list and will hopefully be a fitting entry. Basically I will do a generic version of this configuration: Planned features: - HOG steering of front and rear axle - fake inline 6 engine (maybe with the new components from the Yamaha) - lifting of rear axle (depends on how well I get the cranes stability/connection to the frame) - foldable sides - outriggers on the rear for the crane - crane turning, elevation and extension Still undecided if I go with pneumatics or even a dumb battery box behind the cab and 1 motor for the crane action... could be interesting :-) Just started today, so very likely to change:

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Jundis replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWill follow this one for sure :-) Just a question: Did you integrate the little gearing just for faster cylinder movement? And @Jurss said, I think the solution with the Y piece is a little too easy to get stuck.

[TC27] Technic 49.5 x 20 Tire Vehicle Contest - Discussion Topic
Discussion is really funny 'Build a vehicle with 4 or 6 wheels' - - > first thing that comes in mind is a plane @Jim I know you don't like too much restriction, but the addition of the term 'truck' would have prevented this an left open many possibilities still

[MOC] CK's building adventures wip wheel loader
*slapsLego* "That's how to do a Volvo excavator!" Jokes aside, really great job, especially the boom and the substructure. Seems also very functional and cleanly built. Dumb battery Battery+Pneumatic is always great to play with :-)

2024 Technic Sets Discussion
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingExaclty. Actually I don't get it why these smaller technic cars are so popular when comparing them to Creator Expert sets. The studded sets are way prettier and have steering and even suspension (e.g. Defender). They carry the spirit of Model Team sets way better than pure technic sets could. Right now it really seems every category of Lego blooms from City to even small sub themes like Star Wars. I really, really hope they re-establish what technic made so great...

[MOC] Mechanical Grader
Jundis replied to paave's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingVery cool and creative build of the construction machine with arguably the most functions Especially the 0.5 stud offset to achieve the slight angle of the front panels are really cool!

So it's just "Build Truck with a width of 9 studs" and the selection of these two tires :-)

42175 Volvo FMX Truck & EC230 Electric Excavator
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe trailer wheels on the prelim pic are way better suited, but could go without the cover. Oh yeah! There is so much more possible here.

42175 Volvo FMX Truck & EC230 Electric Excavator
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOk, I have to wait for the review videos for this machine. Hmm... let's dissect this: Truck: - Cab looks good, the idea of the small transparent panels as headlights are nice - Chassis is very standard. The only thing which interests me is the connection of the (thanks Lego!) twin tires onto the diff, although 3 axles+suspension would be better... - tanks on the chassis look very cool, now Lego is using the looks of what MOCers did 15 years ago :D - looks like you can shift the a locking mechanism on the fifth wheel - White colour again... could be so much cooler in a more fancy colour like purple, (dark) blue or green... Trailer: - bog-standard, at least some colour variation with black, DBG and some red accents - wheel choice is very strange, the 42098 looked better in my opinion... not perfect, but better. - very sturdy build with the 3x19 liftarm racks Excavator: - I just don't know what to make of it. Some angles (back) look good, but most of it doesn't - the arm looks so thin, I mean compare it to the 42053! - double bucket, really? Why not the 7 x 10 bucket? - same link mechanism for bucket as the 42121? That's just poor... Would have been a perfect chance the medium pneumatic cylinder in DBG... - the LBG 2L thin liftarms on the side of the bucket are cool play feature as they can catch the chains of the power generator unit! - the cab looks like a mish-mash of tinkered solutions, but looks like is openable
