  1. Very authentic, especially the modularity of this system :-) One suggestion you might consider is using the new tires from the 42160, which are almost the same diameter as the old rubber tires, but a bit thicker.
  2. Great news, if the set fullfills the promise :-) So far, most trucks in that scale were really good or outstanding (42078, 42098, 42112 and 42128) so my hopes are high!
  3. I even hope for a semi truck/Trailer combination. But maybe with many System pieces to achieve the recognizable look, it will come down to the setup which @1gor mentioned. At least give us twin tires on rear axles, TLC!
  4. Hopefully this contest drags me out of my (temporary) Lego abstinence :D
  5. So nice to see this finally finished! What a machine you built here
  6. It's gonna be a straight 6 according to the article...
  7. Brilliant model with lovely blue color scheme :-) Somehow, this model seems way bigger. I first thought it would be with the 81 mm tires. Sadly, this ladder piece isn't available in orange :-/
  8. Very cool model and welcome to the forum! Even if I like the tractor tires better, your tire choice in this combination is better for this model.
  9. In this scale, the details are amazing! Personally speaking, there are too many details for my taste :D I'd love to have a pneumatic cylinder with telescopic layout :-)
  10. Would be a nice successor to the 42110, as it's now 5 years since it was introduced. Hopefully we don't get just another chassis on the same suspension, just with a updated gearbox, but also other wheels (audi wheels would be cool, but maybe look too offroadie, as most G500 are more street-stylish.... sadly. And please TLG: NOT BLACK AGAIN!
  11. Brilliant Model and VERY recognisable! Front-Page material :D
  12. Completely forgot about this event this weekend :-/ But seeing your builts, I am kind of intimidated! I expected way smaller builts, more like in the size of @Stereo's cute truck :-) Especially @Aurorasaurus Monster would have been a month-long work with my building speed :D
  13. This looks amazing! The details in every corner dwarfs the new icon-sets :-) What element did you use for the suspension arms?
  14. Perfectly captures the vibe of such an old truck!
  15. Really cool new part! Looks like even the Lego designers were fed up with coming up with partly horrible solutions for the clicking engines (looking at you, 42164). The ridge should be in normal bar size for c-clamps, I think we will see this part also in some fancy Lego System builds (wave motion for example).
  16. Here are some other ideas to throw in the pot: - Monochromatic: Build only in 1 colour (except tires, axles and pins) - Polybag-scale: Recreate an official model with under 150 parts (video or digital model for approvement) - Tracked: Come up with a model on tracks
  17. Except for a drawbar trailer in micro scale :-)
  18. Just a simple and puristic model Jorge! And it has a cab! :D
  19. Very interesting topic, indeed! Here is my take: Basic mechanism can be recreated in technic, so I try to stay close to the original model as much as possible. Special functions need a workaround or have to be dropped as they would become too bulky. Nowadays, 50/50 would be very fitting for my builds, but usually form follows function. The functionality itself can also be done in a ugly way or an elegant way. The credo here is, that the fewer parts, the better. This also helps stability a lot. Same as @XTN, only for deco. Most inspiration comes from observation of real life machinery or just browsing through the web for heavy or agricultural machinery. Start with the hardest part first. Maybe use different scales for building dummies of a main function. If you really hit a roadblock, don't try to force it, but built another segment. Sometimes inspiration comes in this process. Rather restart a whole assembly in another way that try to make a single part or mechanism fit in an already existing assembly. Sometimes, think about: Can the mechanism be made better with pneumatics/worm gears/linear actuators instead of the current principle? As LEGO is limited in its parts, some things are much harder to do than working with metal, where you can get any shape/size/part you want. In bricks, it's way more trial and error than specific planning. More complex builds are possible. System is for style, Technic is for function :D Start with simple 10...50€ models and try to come up with B-models to understand mechanisms. I once built the 42082 with my nephew (age 10). He had a hard time to even get, what he was building sometimes and got bored, as he didn't saw the purpose. I never understood why Lego (especially for brand models with 1000+ pieces) just don't give the space of 1 page to explain, what assembly you are building and how that assembly/mechanism looks in the real model to enhance the building experience.
  20. Ah yeah, thanks! With my current building speed, this is not a problem :D
  21. Is there an upcoming model, where parts 2403 and 2395 in white are expected?
  22. Really cool! Was just about time somebody uses the new components :-) What does the middle selector do? I ain't attached to anything?
  23. Hmm I fairly guess it will be such a configuration, although I'd like to have it with a trailer...
