Really cute model :-) The fenders are always hard to do, they will come off easily with only studs fitted onto pin holes.

Hey Jorge, really nice and clean built you have made :-) The 12L wide front of the cabin on the 13L wide chassis makes looks really good! Did you tinker around with some panel to make the cabin and the grill a little more interesting? ;-) This is the only thing for me: The front looks too bland :-/

Ah thanks! Ok, if the bracing with the 2 gear sturdy yellow gears is enough, then cool :-) I'll wait for a new ball bearing socket, I'm hope TLG will come up with them soon :-P

Just build this model (christmas gift from lovely GF) and I gotta say the first 2 building steps were really great. The structure is rock-solid and spring travel is good, too. I know that Lego technic loves IPs nowadays, but here the IP is completely wasted. The thing that bugs me most is the panel work in Step 3 and 4, which goes from page 88 to 193. With a generic car, this could reduced in half, making the model also a little lighter. Adding to this, without stickers, the car already looks generic :D I counted the first steps for the chassis, which needed 424 pieces. With such a good base, anything could be made on top of it that thing. Maybe I rebuild it. The included pieces are great and I love the new wheels, which give so much possibilities for construction machinery It drives okay-ish, although the physical control and heavy latency doesn't give me the feeling of driving a cool RC and fast Dakar Rally Car, but rather a slow pickup truck of some sort. I never missed the physical control so much than in this model. Lego needs this "universal controller" soo much here.

I can't believe you didn't mention the upside of this model! The roof was made so much better than that of the 42136! Your review sums up all the problems I have with this model. If at least this thing would be compatable to play with it's tractor partner, it would be ok. But with this spout, it's a shame.

Cool build! Did you stretch a 62.4 tire onto the 43.4 rim? :D

For sure. Maybe in a smaller scale, but I don't think this Lambo would be used as another Supercar. @kbalage's analysis is quite accurate I think. McLaren 750S or 765LT would also be available as a Spider models with retractable roof, which would be my favorite function :-)

@Lipko summarized most of what I think, but I like to add one thing, which brings us back to the initial question: In my opinion there is a big difference in the overall building quality in official models as there is in MOCs. 1. Function: We had some very flimsy models with ambitious functionality, for which I can't imagine how they passed quality control: 42080, 42097, 42158 2. Stability: We had very sturdy models, which quality control maybe reduced the number of functions or fancy features: 42079, 42136, (42168) 3. Looks: We had good looking models, but with very poor functionality, so clearly form over function: 42110, all 1:8 Supercars 4. We had models with the best of both worlds, where all 3 criteria merged nearly perfectly: 42043, 42082, 42128, 42139, (42167) When I see reviews from non-Lego branded technic models, sometimes I have to shake my head, how such over-sized models even made it into production. They far exceeding the structural stability of what plastic bricks are capable of. Last statements to MOCs: My goal is always to achieve the fourth category of the upper mentioned ones, but I still never made a single model where I am 100% proud and would claim, that this could be sold as an official model. I don't build that many MOCs, but I can hardly think of any, that does achieve this criteria. Please let me know, if there are any :-)

True, but I think the recreation of such beauties (Jaguar E-Type, Ferrari 250 GT SWB or Shelby Cobra) would be impossible to achieve in a elegant way to please the fans. We would complain, how all the elegant lines were lost within panel-work or we would get many new single-use panels in a unique color... I don't think this would be nice. Newer cars are better suited for the edgy look of the panels. I really hope for a C8 Corvette Convertable in white or yellow.

Yeah, I thought about this, but it's not that stylish in my opinion...

Had some time working on my version today, still can't decide on a good design for the rear cover. My aim is, to use not more than the 559 pieces like in the lego version. Currently 309, but the header will consume some gears... The corn thrower will be made longer when I find a good attachment to the oddly places crossaxle. It will have a gear at the rear to switch to both sides, while raising simultaniously with yellow bionicle tooth pushing the universal joint upwards. A fake V12 engine should also be squeezed in :-)

More of a general wish than a specific model: Reading through the complain about the upcoming 42167 John Deere Forage Harvester, I really wish Lego would pick some of the mechanisms of such real models and display them with real fotos before a building step to give an insight of how real machinery works. I think they did this for some super cars, but never build one, so I may be wrong. In my opinion, this would enhance the building experience and also give kids+adults a better sense for technical aspects and solutions.

Just checked brickset for the amount of models per year (with polybag): 14 models in 2017 to 2020 15 models in 2021 17 models in 2022 18 models in 2023 So far, we have 14 models we know by number and name for 2024. The missing numbers are 42165 and 42172 to 42177, which would pump the number up to 21!

What a cool truck! Especially the challenge to make a steering system without steering hubs :D When under load, does to carrier lift up instead of folding in? In the upcoming garbage truck, something similar is used for picking up the trash can.
