Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Jundis replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFor 99€ I think we are more likely in the scale of the Mac/Car Transporter with 49.5 x 20 tire. Let's wait for concrete evidence!* *pun intended

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
With the standard piece 32333 it should be a 90° angle between the cylinder blocks, so rotate each 45°.

[TC17] Rebel Tow Truck
Oh man this looks better with every iteration! Love the skull and the new rims :-)

[TC17] Halftracker
Jundis replied to JLiu15's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingVery nice idea for this theme! :-) I think it will be really challenging if you use two L-Motors. IMHO the first half tracks used a diff on the driven tracks, just later ones really adapt the speeds directly according to the steering angle of the front wheels. There are even some (like the Kettenkrad) that breaks one or the other track according to the steering. Damn, I really should built a Kettenkrad for the TC17 xD Edit: Or you use this :-P

[TC17] Rebel Tow Truck
I especially like the exhaust pipes in flat silver :-) If you have 4 of the spaghetti pieces left, maybe you can put them on the end to face outwards? Looks maybe even cooler

[MOC] Unimog U500 (405.201) (Instructions Posted)
Jundis replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI really like this, it somehow looks more pleasant than the 8110 U400. :-) Also blue pins don't stick out as much :D

Help needed for an assembly
As you already use 3L plates, another possibility would be to use 3L jumper plates connected to liftarms?
-
Help needed for an assembly
Do you need to use liftarms? Maybe you can go with the 5.5L crossaxle and axle connectors? EDIT: I should read through the post before answering....

LEGO Technic 1H2020 videos: 42109, 42108, 42106, 42104, 42103, 42102, 42101 (My own video speedbuilds, reviews, tests and more)
Jundis replied to shugo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingSame here. But I think they did it to get a slightly better response as they used an input of a 2L liftarm activating the steering of the 3L (building step 21 on the video at 0:47). You can easily change this, e.g. use this part as the lever. You will although get a more direct and "harder" steering I think.

[PRESS RELEASE] 42109 - Top Gear Rally Car
Agreed, but also remember the history of TLG. As they were on the brink of bankruptcy in 2003, Jørgen Vig Knudstorp as the new CEO reduced the number of individual brick molds from 14.000 to under 7000 and went back to more basic bricks and classic themes instead of specialiced ones for specialiced themes. This in the end saved TLG. I just hope the don't overdo it again...

[PRESS RELEASE] 42109 - Top Gear Rally Car
There are really two sides of the story. On one side, every Technic-fan likes sturdy, compact constructions as they give us new/improved building methods and techniques. On the other, the more Lego goes for complete build-in-solutions like the planetary hub, the more it gets lost from the original principle: Build everything from simple building blocks. I really can't make up my mind, which side I prefer, while I like the basic idea of this diff as is somehow combines both of its advantages (but maybe also disadvantages?).

Thirdwigg's MOCs
Jundis replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThey sure do :-) Although tires with real tractor profile in exactly this size would be even greater...

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Jundis replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt's funny that the best sets in H1 seem to be the Buggy and the Mini Xerion :D

Gear problems
Jundis replied to Andro's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOr maybe just use sandpaper/grinding wheel on the edges of the teeth?
-
42108 - Mobile Crane
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAnother good reason I didn't buy the 42097... what a strange design... maybe cause of the risk of skipping when a bevel gear goes directly on the turntable?

Gear problems
Jundis replied to Andro's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOverall I don't like these 20t bevel gears as they always seem to grind... the problem I think are the flanks of the teeth, as they are sticking out the same height as the outermost ring. While normally when you work with a little space to allow friction-free rotation of the axles, the axle/gears bend slightly to one side under load. Therefore the gears grind on the liftarm/frame/technic brick. In contrast, that never happened on the straight toothed 16t or 24t.

General Part Discussion
Jundis replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling*JCB ;-) It really is a pity, that we are still waiting for newer, smaller tractor tires in the size of about 60 x 25. I think even the new backhoe tractor (42114) will have the Xerion configuration with the same sized wheels both on front and back axle like JCB 5CX. :-/

42108 - Mobile Crane
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLooking again at 0:25 in the video, you can spot the two tan bevel gears for the steering. The gear for the horizontal axle would interfere with a mechanism for the front outriggers.

42108 - Mobile Crane
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAs he grabbed the outriggers with his fingers I had the same thought: You must be kidding.... I mean TLG come on... it would be ok to actually use one of the front lights, the bumper, a lever in the cabin, or something completely else.... but please put some levers/gears/mechanics in there... I mean it's called "Technic" or did I missed something?

Functional Brick Built Piston
Jundis replied to JackJonespaw's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAgreed. According to the size of the piston, the "jar" of the Robot will be quite big (about 15 studs long?), therefor not that light weight, especially when built by system bricks. According to the little lever between the movable pneumatic arm connection and the fixed part of the jar, you will have easily enough torque to move the pneumatic piston.

What set should I buy to make mocs ?
Jundis replied to LegoTT's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI would add the 42100, although quite expensive... All around I can really can recommend the 42043 because you get many different parts although not too specific: Good wheels, springs, hydraulic, motor and actuator.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Jundis replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOn the left rear wheel, sure. But you said at both sides...? ;-)

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Jundis replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYou mean next to the right rear wheel? This surely is the red thin liftarm you can also see at 0:06 and not a red gear.

TLG acquires Bricklink
At least in the interview, on brickset, Julia Goldin, Global Chief Marketing Officer of TLG explicitly said the following: "There are absolutely no plans to change transaction fees or anything like that." and "We would seek to maintain the marketplace in a way that is competitively robust and we will continue to allow sellers to operate as they are doing already. LEGO will not be interfering with that in any way." I hope they'll stick to this words :-) Edit: When I think about it, some very rare parts, now not available on current sets may even be considered to be produced again? I mean if they weren't outdated in any kind.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Jundis replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAs already previously stated, the model is way overpriced. As the 42100 slowly reaches the 300€ range and acting as a part donor, we are currently at 50€ for all the electric components at bricklink. The only interesting parts right now are the white wheel arches and the differential.
