  1. Really nice looking model. I too like how many functions you have squeezed into that small frame.
  2. I got curious and checked the instructions. They have not been updated to reflect the new mold. Could cause some confusion in younger builders. As for modifying the foam, why not take it out of the tires. Surely it's not glued in there. BTW while i don't have any need for it i for one would prefer the knife instead of an soldering iron. Less chance, at least for me, for making a mistake. Anyone with third party tires wanna give both methods a go?
  3. Well i just checked in my box and it has the newer style rims. The box art shows the old style though. Not sure about instructions. Will check there in a day or two when i'm done building the crane.
  4. Thanks you for that. Well lots of leftovers like i suspected. Funny how the truck is about the same size as 8109 and the reach stacker's arm is the only thing also longer than it. I thought that the truck would be smaller and the reach stacker bigger than that set. I'll try to remember to snap a picture of the crane next to 8109 for comparison.
  5. Can someone find out how many parts are left after building the B-model. I figure many since B-models don't usually use that many pieces. Still this set does have 3 parts in the B and regardless it would be nice with a number. I wont be building the B-model anytime soon myself, still have much left before even the A-model is finished.
  6. I find it really funny have the status keeps changing from ships in september to ships in august. Happens several times a day. Right now it's back to 11 september but earlier today it was 22 august.
  7. Take it from someone who's currently building it, this will take time. Lots of time. I take many breaks to rest. Still i really hate that most steps could have been a little more complex and have more parts mounted. Now i regularly see a part mounted to another part added a few steps ago and can't help but wonder why those parts weren't mounted at the same step. I mean this set isn't 42001 or 5 for crying out loud. A few more sub-steps wont kill anyone. Now i have a few more forum threads to check out then it's back to building until my back tells me to rest again.
  8. Well even if my 9398 doesn't have them i still have 8 from super sonic RC and the unimog so no hoarding on my part. But yes i would recommend that those who have even the slightest thought of using third party wheels on these rims to make sure they have at least 4 of them. I imagine bricklink prices shooting through the roof once sellers learn how useful they are.
  9. Right now i remember. I forgot that his review about the 41999 had pictures of the new rims. So i'm guessing that the problem is the the reinforcements are to tight against the foam in the third party wheels. Maybe try without it?
  10. I sure hope my 9398 doesn't come with the new ones. Could anyone please post a pictures of the rim itself next to an older one. Would be nice to see the difference. I'm also having trouble believing that the difference is that large. Third party wheels are known to be very stretchy so surely this could not be that much of a problem.
  11. Yes and in them is a reach stacker. I never noticed the misspelling in the title until it was pointed out.
  12. I too lack a proper review of the b model. I take it that you have found the instructions. If not you can download them here. http://www.lego.com/en-us/technic/products/construction/42009/ For me the thought of building it makes me less willing to do it. I don't have much room near my computer monitor and don't want be too far away from it. Still this model is the first in i don't know how long that i am more interested in the b model then the A.
  13. Someone should add them to bricklink. Went and checked yesterday and could not see any medium racing wheels with 6 holes.
  14. I think it said in this or some other thread that 42003 was a placeholder for the Boss crawler. Not sure if that is confirmed though.
  15. In that last picture it looks a lot like a mech. Nice spreader and bed. I like the orange.
  16. Ok i just bought 3 pairs of Crazy Krawler 1.9 tires. I'll let you know what i think of them in a few weeks when they arrive. They look really cool. BTW they are discontinued and on sale. Got them for $12.99 per pair. Was afraid the shipping would be terribly expensive but it was only $10 which is fair. Ok there was an more expensive shipping alternative that was faster and provided tracking but i don't want to pay $45 in shipping for an order costing about $39. I payed via paypal. Next is to build something to put these on but i'll talk about that in time in another thread.
  17. You are right. I saw it in a catalogue on peeron for 1998 so i figured it was released then. Didn't remember that it was released earlier.
  18. Amazing model. Are you sure this isn't an official model?
  19. That's a great idea. Personally though i would prefer if gear racks were used because i have more of those and i think it would be stronger. I wonder if there is any room for this.
  20. A weight problem just as i suspected. And if the goal is to keep the model mostly original then it's probable no use trying to strengthen the outriggers. I don't know if i will build Jurgens version or the original but i do know that i don't want too many other parts tied up in the set which probably will stay built for some time so the less new parts the better. Wow that was one long sentence.
  21. Is there any easy way to change the outriggers so that they lift the model or is that not possible due to the weight.
  22. I ordered mine from hiko.se for 1649 SEK. Can't wait to build it. If only there where some way to make booms that way in Lego-pieces. Or for that matter thinner multisection booms for models like 8258.
