  1. Am i the only one who can't wait to turn this into either a garbage truck or a long distance hauler type rear end? It would be like the Actros but with a different body.
  2. Thanks for the help. Scale 1:18 you say. Wow that was way smaller than i thought. I had hoped for at least 1:16 but i get why it's that small. Yes i remember the Unimog and its terrible steering. Oh well looks like i will have to finish that Tatra Agrotruck anyway. I got some RC-tires last year just for that one. When i plan what to build i tend to calculate on the wheel size since i don't know what the size of the vehicle will be and i want to know if i have tires of the correct size or at least close to it. I have several datasheets of tires in many sizes and look at those and then divide by what scale i was planning on using and hope that i have matching tires. If not i scale down the build or build something else. Trucks tend to have several configurations so if one doesn't work i find one that does. I chose Agrotruck instead of other Tatras since it doesn't use dual rear wheels like the Arocs so the 6 i have will be enough. If i understand correctly then 1:18 is the most common scale for Technic flagships. I will have to remember that should i ever want to build some addon for a official set. Either way i'm so getting this set. 42030 never interested me that much but this most certainly does.
  3. Where to find the cash for all i want to buy. I managed to talk myself out of the Volvo loader but this will be much harder. Anyways i read something about the scale before but while that was mentioned as the same as some other sets i would like to know what actual scale IE 1:12 or so it is. I was hoping it would be 1:12 but seeing as the Unimog is that then it must be smaller. I tried calculating the scale using the wheels since the real once would be 1072 mm if using Goodyear truck tires divided by 62 mm for the Lego wheels yet that makes 1:17 which seems really small scale. Or did i calculate wrongly. In comment 684 Mark Bellis got the scale at 1:13 but i don't know how really. So which scale is this truck in? I get that the wheels on the real truck are smaller than on most trucks so no fault in the set there but i would still like to know which scale this is. I have a truck i've been trying to build for like a year now so i was thinking of not finishing it but if this isn't in scale 1:12 which that will be at then i might reconsider.
  4. Oh i know exactly how you feel.
  5. Personally i think i'll skip most Technic sets for now. I'm feeling kinda tired of building official sets anyway. BTW where is the news on the bulldozer? Was hoping for pictures of the alternative model.
  6. My thoughts exactly. Amazing how much proper rims help.
  7. Nice loop. I will hopefully find the time to work on my modules. Haven't done anything for months.
  8. Lego vehicles with possible turbo mode. Now we're talking.
  9. Funny how no one at Volvo has said anything about it, i mean even their own press statement says F. I guess proof reading isn't Volvo's strong suit. Or as others have said, an F with 2 axles really are in the works, for Volvo's sake i sure hope so.
  10. Nice looking mocs. The pneumatic one isn't as "clean" as the other one but i would still prefer it.
  11. I have been wondering that myself. Would be nice if we didn't have to wait until it is in stores to find out.
  12. Thanks for the picture. Now i can say with certainty that 42028 isn't for me. It wont even work as a part pack since it doesn't offer anything new. I'm still looking forward to the B-model, just to see what they come up with. Also if those yellow panels are 5x11 then it will provide more supply for the secondary market which is always a good thing.
  13. That looks really nice. I for one would rather use those than have to use 2 turntables for each wheel.
  14. Well we are all different. Some like displaying their sets, others like me prefer moc:ing. Since few sets have functions that interest me i tend to view sets for the parts they have rather than as sets themselves. As an example i recently bought 42000 since it has some nice parts and i couldn't afford it last year. 42025 seems to have nice parts as well even though i'm not sure i want it, which is exactly what i said this time last year regarding the grand prix racer. But i will wait with that until i know for sure which summer sets i will buy. I still have other non technic sets i'm thinking of and nowhere near enough money. Gotta save up for 42030. David please stop posting those videos. You are making me wanna buy the full scale loader and i can't afford it nor do i have a license to drive it. BTW this set has more parts, functions and motors than the similarly prized 9398 so it would truly make a great part pack regardless of what one might think about the model itself.
  15. I have it and while the A-model isn't that much fun to play with stock, it is great for parts. One day i plan on building the B-model. Hopefully it'll be more fun to play with. After that it will probably be parted out like most of my other sets.
  16. OK so it looks authentic. I still don't like the look. I guess you are right.
  17. My point of comparing it to the old one was that while models might have been more complex then, they certainly didn't always look so good. Granted on something like a dozer that might not matter unlike sport cars and the like. Compare 8880 to 8070 for instance from looks alone. But this is just awful. 42006 is a good example of a studless dozer done right even though the set wasn't that large, unlike 8275. Edit Oh and this is the only 2H set that i might buy maybe if the alternative model proves to be good. Which shouldn't be too difficult. The other 2 i will buy but this one i will probably skip.
  18. Yeah. Made me look up that old technic one, 856. It looked much better than this thing. This is not even going into the parts bin for me. Oh and be careful what you wish for applies here. We asked for pictures and we got it.
  19. OMG that dozer looks dreadful. OK no need to complain about the loader having open areas. This thing is much worse.
  20. Keep up the good work. I'm not that into making proper suspensions since i usually care more for the rest of the model and also because i'm not really into cars but this is starting to make me interested in building proper suspensions so i eagerly await this thing to be completed so i can buy a couple.
  21. My first thought when i saw the title of this thread was: wait what? Like others here i had no idea that crawler forklifts was a thing but clearly they are. Anyways nice looking model. I like the color sheme. No color womit there like in official sets. Can't wait to see what kind of trailer you come up with.
  22. Yes there is, as clearly seen in the pictures. And the A25E is also available as a 6x6. I have been trying to find a transport solutions brochure for the F-model but so far nothing. What i kind say is that the E-model and probably F as well can have many more things in the back than i thought. I have seen pictures elsewhere of a hauler with a hook-lift but there is more. Might be fun to know for those planning to mod their haulers or build their own. The standard amount of tires seems to be 6 but less is possible. Here we go: Low profile - For mining Light material 4x4 Extended chassis 6x6 Container hauler - Would fit nicely with 42009 Concrete mixer Wood chipper Timber hauler Purpose-built body? 6x6 construction tractor 4x4 construction tractor - looks kinds like a trailer. Probably has a fifth wheel Now the pictures i've seen are small and don't show much detail to if you wish to build it don't look at the brochure, try to find photos instead. Amazing vehicle for sure.
  23. Some more info and data sheets for those that are interested. I recommend the one called transport solutions. It has info on the various configurations that the A25E can have, among them 6 wheels and even an extended chassis. Edit Oops was in a bit of a rush and forgot the link. http://www.volvoce.com/constructionequipment/corporate/en-gb/AboutUs/history/products/articulated%20haulers/Articulated%20Haulers%20Volvo/pages/Volvo%20A25E.aspx
  24. Actually Volvo does use the word dumper several times in the text. But you are right about hauler being the correct english word. I forgot and used the swedish word which is dumper.
  25. I had forgotten how the PF logo looks. I don't focus on that part of boxes. Let's hope it really is pneumatic. But didn't someone say earlier that it wasn't?
