  1. I think you're right! Looked through the entire thread again, and it appears to be just an optical illusion caused by the sheer outwards reach of the gallery section? The 2x4 hinge plate attaching the window to the gundeck wall is obviously level... I would love to see more pictures of that section, because there is something off that I can't pinpoint.
  2. Lovely ship, especially the hull is nice. I really like your idea of leaving one side exposed. :) What I think bothers Kurigan is the fact that the galleries slope downwards as they go aft. I've been googling a bit just now, and I can't seem to find a picture of a frigate with downwards angled side galleries - they are all level with the gundeck. The stern wall windows is another story, where there's of course often an arc to them. Case in point, of course, is Wesley's Persephone (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86612), though instead of using the blocky slope bricks one could probably tilt the gallery windows themselves inwards; I imagine that's doable when there's just one level of galleries, possibly even when there are two as on the Persephone. Regards :)
  3. I think you are referring to the bowsprit :) Beautiful ship! Would love to see it "in the brick"
  4. One of those times you simply go "wow" out loud Incredible model and great pictures. About the whole grey wall thing - I don't think so, after all that is what castles are (usually) all about, and you're absolutely right - your incredible attention to detail more than makes up for it if there even was a problem to begin with Wish I could see it in person at Lego World, well done!
  5. Lothlórien. I like to imagine it as a set similar in size to Orthanc.
  6. This is brilliant. I like Zombie Aragorn especially!
  7. This keeps getting better, great work on the archery range For those interested, the new HD version of AoE 2 is on Steam and it's a joy to play, even after all these years.
  8. Holy moly that barracks is awesome - brilliant!
  9. This is great - can't wait to see more! I think you caught the general feel of the building very well though there should probably be 3 villagers The farm and gold mine are really nice. In general I think the only truly distinct buildings for each style are wonders and castles. The eastern European castle was always my favorite
  10. It's been a joyride following the process. What a wonderful ship, I am looking forward to the new thread. Incredible ship, so many details and useful techniques; thanks very much for sharing it all with us! :) edit: Almost forgot, congratulations on finishing her!
  11. Indeed, that whale is in shallow waters :D Incredible MOC. Love the way the different cultures of minifigs are conbined. Stunning cliff facade, but in the midst of such an incredible display of tiny details and texture the mill seems a little bland to me, though I do very much like the stairway. My two cents. Well done!
  12. The drummer is great, and I immediately loved how you've included midshipmen. Great job creating so much diversity. Also, those are some beautiful anchors.
  13. Welcome! :D Great castle! Truer words were never spoken. :)
  14. I took me between 5 and 6 hours, and another person has reported that build time as well. :) Edit: I don't think I'll ever disassemble it. I bought it as a display piece, and like the high end Star Wars sets, that's what I feel its real purpose is. The thing is huge, gorgeous, very detailed and one of the best, if not the best, set I own. Very happy with it, despite the pricetag. Also, I have a shelf where it fits with 1 cm to spare.
  15. Brilliant review, Rufus. I love the intro! Great pictures and fulfilling descriptions, though I had to skip some for fear of spoilers :D Congratulations on getting the tower early! Edit: Went straight from work and picked it up at the Lego Store. It is an absolutely breathtaking set - seeing it take shape during the build is a great experience. Lots of cool techniques and parts! Voted outstanding. :P
