Third party mini compressor for pneumatics?
BrickDabbler replied to BrickDabbler's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you much for this YT clip, i`m surprised the shown pump looks very similar to my sample system, i guess i could have searched YT before myself with proper wording, omg... @Mechbuilds, since such a small pump fits anywhere freely i see no dire need for a custom dedicated housing... They don`t even vibrate much, so strapping them hidden inside a construction with few rubberbands should be well sufficient... but well the looks, nothing for purists, i know. I am just worrying about the performance under realistic load, just moving two unloaded pistons is not that impressive, i`ll investigate further on such devices with preferable higher pressure around 1,5 to 2 bar which seems to me a reasonable value worth the buy and testing... Thank you all for your replies so far

[APP] BrickController2
BrickDabbler replied to imurvai's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingCurrent S*msung A4 series is "cheap" and high quality, people who buy anything else must be mad. Runs basically anything and it`s well upgradeable for next four years. (No Advert intended)

Third party mini compressor for pneumatics?
Hi all, I am wondering about if any of you fellow forumers have any experience with using third party 9v dc air compressors with LEGO Pneumatics...? (No advert intended, random sample picture of above mentioned system just to clear things up, the system in question draws around 350-400 milliAmps and generates about 80 Kpa/ 0.8 bar, which i know is on the lower side of performance, but this is why i ask here...) I have made several well (or less so well) working all-LEGO buildt pumps, and as you might guess this alternative would be way more usefull and convenient. I am personally amazed how TLG does not provide by default such a system, it could well live side-by-side with common brick-buildt pumps and i am sure it would be appreciated by Moc builders and AFOL users. We have motors allready, how about mini compressor for convenience and efficiency? Thanks in advance for any comment and/or advice! Any more powerfull suggestion in this size or similar would be very helpfull...

[MOC] [WIP] Crawler crane in 1:20 scale
BrickDabbler replied to Bogdan Valceanu's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAlfredo lives also in my two-Technic-fig collection! The other guy has sort of a red racing overall... At least the true identity of the blue-white dressed guy has now officially being revealed, thank you! Nice detail for technic nuts! (Btw, i wonder if any other technicfigs have become "Canocical" names along the years... )

[MOC] [WIP] Crawler crane in 1:20 scale
BrickDabbler replied to Bogdan Valceanu's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMy jaw literally dropped while watching your video, i just saw a way beyond imaginable masterpiece. Woah! Your crane shows what ABS can perform when a trained engineer gets in touch with excessive amounts of Technic parts I`ve never seen such a sleek and compact supermonster of a crawler, hats off

Rechargeable batteries for powered up hubs
Hello train-fans I recently joined the forums and my interest are mostly along lego technic and mindstorms, and i have posted in this thread about my experience with the latest NiZn rechargeble AA and AAA batterys used for Lego Powerfunctions. This may be very pleasing info for some of you as they have 1,65 volts per cell continuously ... and some other remarkable features... They are also a bit heavier than common NiMhs and other ZiCo and Alkalines... which may help at tractionissues uphill. But me no trainexpert, just saying... Regards

Leaking Batteries -
BrickDabbler replied to doug72's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingJust in case you`re looking for a true 1,5 volt AA alternative battery and missed this thread NiZn rechargeable battery, high voltage Its basically the newest and greenest high density storage around now. Worth a look, works great for Lego Users.

Never built any lego, want to start with technic
BrickDabbler replied to mlluell's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHi Mlluell, I just want to point at the pneumatic harvester and the tracked loader, both are medium sized and both have features which made Technic so popular as it became over the past years... If you really get hooked to this excellent timesink called Lego technic... it`s just great, your imagination keeps growing with experience and available parts. Please don`t buy the large cars first... it`s not just about four-wheeled things finally, they are in fact all the same with more or less in-depth mechanical detail, very repetetive, except the shaping of the outer body. Start reasonable and you will very well know what to get next! And have fun!

NiZn Rechargeable Battery, high voltage
BrickDabbler replied to BrickDabbler's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNice clip, i guess you are using 6 NiCads for the 9 volt test... I have a 42039 around somewhere, when i get more time i`ll use this to compare, with IR, SBrick and Buwizz when i have them in a few weeks... I hope i can even out the transmissionratio for a faster vehicle and a bit more torque. 11,1 volts on Buwizz`s ludicrous mode sounds souspiciously like 3 x 18650 Lion batterys (3 x 3,7 volts, with 30 Amps continuous max discharge rate... have to take a look inside when they ship to me...) I was tempted to cobble such a battery pack together myself some time ago... That would also fit to the price of Buwizz...

NiZn Rechargeable Battery, high voltage
BrickDabbler replied to BrickDabbler's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@teflon, hi there We have come a long way since ten years, recent breakthroughs in NiZn development have solved the self-discharging issue, as mentioned further above the membrane-piercing needle build-up problem has been solved (sinterfoamed cathode anode) and there are basically no disadvantages left with NiZn, only that they can be manufactured exclusiv as AA and AAA shapes until now... quite good for Lego users... (I think about buying shares of said company now...)

NiZn Rechargeable Battery, high voltage
BrickDabbler replied to BrickDabbler's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@sirslayer Indeed, amazing price, there is a company in california who develops these batterys, and as far as i see your find is allready a small step further in performance... I think this will get a lot attention in the future... I have also added further info on my first post, just in case...

NiZn Rechargeable Battery, high voltage
BrickDabbler replied to BrickDabbler's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think moderate use of motors per IR receiver isn`t any issue with NiZn, but keep in mind they can have initial 1,8 voltage when fully loaded, this drops then to average 1,65 to 1,6 volts during use... SBrick can handle them easely as far as i have observed... Ciao tessiner!
