Not only the wig but I see a potential Tia Dalma head as well.

Despite the fact that I seemed to be able to pre-order the Pearl long before anyone else here, mine did not arrive till Friday 11/11. I didn't get a chance to build it because of Shabbat but as soon as the sun went down I started building. Overall I'm very satisfied and happy with the way it looks. Some of the construction techniques are really nice, little decorative flourishes or choices of particular bricks to do something like the half arches which brace the rudder or the way the figurehead's "wings" were made from black plume/flame pieces. The build was easy and fun. The only single I have is that this ship comes with only two cannons. For the price of this, I'd hoped for four, heck, I'd have paid a few money units more to get four in the box. Of course I have extra cannons, it just seems a shame that the Black Pearl is so under armed. As has probably been mentioned before, the mast build technique, sails and rigging are done identically to the QAR. Compared to various older ships, I really prefer the new method. Also like the QAR, there really is no deck so everything inside the ship feels like it is happening at or below the waterline. We've already seen some mods which address this issue. A nitpick is that the "wrench" pin used to hold the foremost sail in place looks a little too light right up against the black sails. I'm sure this is easily solvable though I just need to find the right part. Finally a question for those of you who already have your Pearl: did you all get a character card with yours? I didn't.
  3. I'm really unclear as to why anyone cares about gold bars or coins with this set since they have nothing to do with the presented theme.
  4. Brickbeard's Bounty hands down because I can't stand the RBR collapsing features.
  5. How is this not in the "fake LEGO pirates" thread?

    In my case, Amazon Japan.

Has no one else noticed that the Pearl is showing up for pre-order?

Good work. I have been thinking how to model that very scene. I like how you shot it from an unexpected angle.
  10. Black Pearl just showed up for pre-order on amazon Japan. Needless to say I was all over that like I was a man back from a six month voyage and it was "pleasurable company". Ship date is Nov 1.

Just what I needed, thank you.

Not sure what you are meaning there, the sail hangings look exactly the same as the QAR. In fact the construction looks almost exactly like the QAR but that is not going to stop me from buying this the minute it hits retail. That is if it hits retail here in Japan...

Very true in regards to the spars and sail mountings. The QAR or BBB is amazingly good in that area. The 90s ships not so much.
  14. Congratulations to University of Tokyo graduate student Junpei Mitsui! News in English here: http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/national/news/20110713p2a00m0na012000c.html His home page is http://www.geocities.jp/jun_brick in Japanese. Click the second link below the word Menu on the left to see his models. (BTW I'm new to eurobricks so I hope I posted this in the right place)
  15. It is definitely 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty. I could of course be mistaken on the re-issue point.
