Comprehensive Adventurers Retrospective - In Progress!
He is taking a break at the moment, I think he needs to find a bit of time and motivation again to continue this great endeavour. Anyway if he returns I'm 100% sure a Dino Island will come along as he had already shared his collection of the subtheme. Btw, I feel you @The Reader, I think Jamie's work is the highest quality when it comes to oldschool Lego video reviews. The thoroughness of the presentation, the details, the sheer passion and custom songs he provides is just truly first-class.

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
My biggest question is, do we (AFOLs) really need new classic themes to be released? Take the pirate bay for example, that is going to be huge. Personally my budget is restricted (by myself) to a 500-1000 $/year range for old classic sets. If I buy the pirate bay I might not be able to buy the old Imperial Trading Post I was planning for years now. So I have to decide wheter I like the nostalgic old set or this great new design more. A new theme should be very well designed even in my adult eyes to really tilt the balance. Okay some of us might have a 10k USD limit for a year I guess, but you know what I'm implying here. It's not a coincidence a well conditioned oldie can reach $500 today.

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
I remember I was 10 when Knights Kingdom II came in. I liked and hated it in the same time. It was truly not real castle because of lots of gimmicks, no factions, and a cartoonish backstory for those colored knights. I just simply liked the old crusaders and black knight from catalogs more. The second waves with more factions were okayish, but the later fantasy line seemed so much better in my child's eyes. Still for today's Ninjago and Nexo Knight KK2 is godly. But I guess that's just me, I remember most of my classmates to be watching animes while I was reading about the hundred years' war and stuff instead. I felt my preferences too marginal back in the days as well.

[MOC] Wicked Wench vs. Spanish Fortress by MattedBricks
Yep, in PoTC lore that was the Pearl before painted in black and turned into a pirate ship, probably a spanish trading vessel originally. Btw is that licensed-Phes at the top of the bastion?

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
Speaking of interviews, why is there no information regarding this question from Lego? Is that such a business secret to have a little time to explain long-term directions? Or maybe there is something only I missed it totally? I'd much prefer TLG to behave like the video game industry, where communicating with the community becomes more and more essential for developer companies to be taken seriously.

[IDEA] Jenny Thunder: Escape from Skelly Island
Thanks Sir/Lady Swish and Flick! I think this idea deserves all the support it can get, if not only to send a message for TLG. You're welcome, it's @leafan's credit for sharing with us :) That'd be awesome, I hope he keeps building these classic stuff. Have you checked his other builds? Those are set-worthy creations (at least in my fundamentalist eye).

Future LEGO Pirates Set Speculation
Nah, already gave him one from Salazar's spare black ones as an emblematic prize for taking over the Runner. Haha! What a coincidence, got this dude right here as well, tried to make a swim for it. Brave, but a bold idea I must say. Also discussing this is irrevelant and offtopic but super fan so I don't care, he-ha.

Haha, the one and only Redbeard actually misses everything from one of the paired organs and limbs. Either the most experienced or the worst pirate we've ever seen.

LEGO Spider-Man Venomsaurus Ambush 76151 Discussion
In short I think this is the stuff I've ended collecting comics being around 12 years old, especially Marvel. Not the whole genre was my problem just the silly and even sillier interpretations of great tales. I think the set will surely reach a lot of kids but I myself am just really fed up with spider-man jeeps and venom-villian mechas, T-rexes. Cool action builds, but very shallow for the original background. These are such great characters, do they really not deserve any proper scene for their epical rivalry and story?

[IDEA] Jenny Thunder: Escape from Skelly Island
IDEA submitted by JasonsBrickStop, it was discovered and linked by @leafan in the pirate section previously. I've invited Jason to join us, it seems he did not have the time or the intention to do so yet. Still, I think this build is truly such an underrated gem within IDEAS that it deserves an own thread. I'd like to summarize some personal opinions on pros and cons about this as an IDEAS submission. I have mostly positive view of course, but as it only stands with ~500 votes at the moment I try to list some things why it might be wrongfully underperforming despite it's greatness and potential. Pros: It is actually very well scaled in piece count, nothing unrealistic to instantly eliminate itself from competition Great combination of newer elements with oldschool atmosphere Pretty astonishing design with lots of different play features and scenes, color scheme is diverse but organic - something what Lego would do itself to make it noticeable The build is a little bit of everything, obviously a jungle but also some pirates/oriental theme. Not too much but far from boring and empty. It is Adventurers so one of the coolest things a Lego set can ever become, period Cons: It is Adventurers, sadly Lego has a questionable motivation and even reputation with rebooting themes. Also today's kids don't really have any emotional links to this theme, that might cause the lower performance (or just not enough publicity) I'm not sure of the figs, they are pretty nice for templating the historical atmosphere, but too many overused parts from older sets (I guess customizing them is just not 100% priority) Without proper lore explanation this might remain a great theme concept instead of an individual IDEAS set. I'm still hoping Jason is going to accept the invitation and will share us some insight about his motivation and standpoints while building this great idea. Also discussions of any detail would be quite welcomed. I personally think this is one of the most careful and sophisticated designs I have ever seen as an attempt to revive an old but also ageless classic.

COVID-19 and will it impact Lego's profits?
Actually by the time it would hurt Lego really bad that'd be least of our concerns.

Future LEGO Pirates Set Speculation
I'm not really into newer face expression, don't like the white spot indicating the iris. I'm kind of emotionally bound to the older two-dot-smile style so I might as well just swap it with these options:

Okay, not so horroristic from this angle, but still not my favorite. Hmm, have to admit that mole and the broken tooth gives an authentic pirate wench feeling. The printed legs and the hatpiece is super cool tho'.

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
Anyway I'm not really into this 3 in 1 way. I'll take a very close look at the new pirate ship, but possibly just gonna buy some used oldie instead. Just calculated there's about $3000 worth classics out there I still want to get so I'm just waiting out as well I guess.

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
My speculation is that they want to innovate (take Hidden Side) continuously and they're waiting out to find the good angles. TLG burned itself already with some of the poorer execution of these classic themes and I'm not sure they've really learned from it. Or maybe they have indeed, even too much. I think they just really not sure how these lines would sell today, how many sets should be pre-produced etc. Creator and IDEA seems to be the testing ground so I reckon it is going to take many many years until we see a proper version of a classic again.

REVIEW: Hidden Side 70432 Haunted Fairground
Good job with the video review! After watching it my only major problem with the whole set is that I simply don't like these semi-made type of sets. At first you may think it is fun, but it is actually pretty lackluster. Either make it a whole roller-coaster set like the Creator one, or if it is too much for the budget just make a simple one-leveled circle at least. Those elements are quite big so it would have only taken a hundred pieces more. And that's it, you get a really fun set that case. I felt just the same with the old Temple of Doom or the Spider-man train rescue sets: For serious, just +50 pieces and you get a full circle and the whole action gets more fluent and realistic. I just hate these stingy executions.

Lego sets in movie scenes
Hey guys. Just watched a classic, The Firm from 1993. Interesting thriller where Tom Cruise as a new attorney at a fancy law firm starts to realize something shady stuff is going on with the company... and soon people start to follow him. Anyway, at the very end Tom Cruise's character is seen walking around in his messed up house and look: He must have loved to build shuttle launching scenes while digging up some shady corporate secrets and avoiding getting killed. Do you remember any other scenes from famous movies when Lego makes an appearance?

[MOC] Orient Expedition - Red Eagle
I want to point out the quality of display you've made for the Eagle. The little diorama and the cover design surely took quite some time to work out. Great efforts there, congrats :) I'd love to see more expansions from you for this theme. I remember how much I've wanted to get the Emperor's Palace, sadly I already got the Pharaoh's temple some years before so my parents had declined my humble offer of ceasefire.

Index: LEGO Ideas Support Thread - Pirates
I've just invited JasonsBrickStop to join us and tell us more info and details about this amazing build. I hope he'll accept and have some spare time to discuss. By the way he has some amazing classic-styled set builds, it totally worth taking a look at. I hope he'll join us so maybe it'd be the best to move his IDEA to the adventurers section in case.
