  1. I'm guessing everyone has seen pictures of the GWP Christmas Train (out now) as well as the Picture Frame and Nutcracker Ballerina, which are due out in December. I think the train is a nice looking set for a GWP. It's a shame that it doesn't really add to the WV line the way the Christmas Market GWP last year did, but it looks like a solid set overall. The Nutcracker Ballerina set is a real missed opportunity. If the stage had been made just a bit bigger, that set could very well have worked as an outdoor stage/amphitheater for a Winter Village, and the Nutcracker would be the perfect production to be on display at such a venue. The set looks just a bit small for something like that, and maybe it will look better/bigger in hand, but it looks like Lego was going for more of a music box idea with this set instead of doing something that would work as part of a WV. Might be a nice set in the end, but it could have been so much more. The picture frame doesn't get my attention much at all, but at least it's got a fun holiday look. At the end of the day, the GWP's don't add to the WV nearly like the carriage and market stand did last year. Definitely disappointing. And it looks like my dream of an autumn CMF line that has a WV theme will be delayed yet again, as next autumn's CMF line is pretty strongly rumored to be a Spider-verse set. I guess we can officially start the conjecture about the 2025 WV set!
  2. I dislike repetitive builds in the WV line too, but I think these post offices are different enough that it doesn't bother me. When they first came out with Santa's Workshop, I thought it was a strange choice. But now they've really developed two different towns - one at the North Pole, and one for us mortals - and I find that I enjoy having the different styles and locations. At this point, I look at them as two separate winter villages instead of one big one, and while I think this was very smart from Lego's standpoint, I'm totally bought in. Both towns have endless possibilities for future sets, but I find myself perhaps a bit more interested in what they might role out next for the North Pole. And now that we have Santa's Post Office and the Delivery Truck coming, it will be time to turn our attention to this year's holiday GWP's. Hopefully at least one of them will be a set that works with the WV line.
  3. I would hope that we'll be seeing official pics of this set by Monday or Tuesday. It should be available for sale a week from Tuesday. I still think we haven't quite seen everything that's included in the set - I don't see 1400+ pieces in the few pics that have leaked. Regarding the lack of updated anything with the elves, I would point out that there appears to be a post office insignia on the upper left chest of the elves. Unless that has been done in a previous set or CMF (I'm not aware of it, but it's certainly possible), then it would seem that we are technically getting new elf prints in this set.
  4. Thanks, found it on Reddit. I like it overall. From a size standpoint, I think it's wider than Santa's Workshop was, with about the same depth as most of the WV sets. I think a lot of pieces are consumed in the hot air balloon landing pad and the contraption to get the letters down into the building. I'm guessing a traditional roofline would be a little more simple, and require fewer pieces. And I agree that the inside looks a bit empty, but I wonder if there will be a little more to it. There are a pair of studs where the mail should be dropping into the building, which makes me wonder if there's a piece of equipment that is supposed to go there to catch the mail. If so, that will likely make the interior look a little more full. I like the look of it overall, and I think it goes well with the Elf Clubhouse, while not directly replicating the lines of that building. I like the colors well enough - it looks more like gold/tan and blue instead of orange and blue, but I could be seeing that wrong. Part of me wishes that the truck had been included in the set, but being separate allows us to buy more than one truck for the post office if we so desire. Overall, it's different, and I like it.
  5. Has the image been pulled? I'm not seeing it anywhere on that IG page
  6. I can't remember where I heard it, but I believe there was information in the last month or two that the WV set would be revealed on September 22nd, or about there. I hope it's not that late, but it wouldn't surprise me. Lego knows how anticipated each year's WV set is, and I think they're happy to draw out the drama. I'd still like some teaser shots, like they did with the WV Fire Station several years back.
  7. I believe the main set is going to be equally as whimsical as the Santa's Delivery Truck set. Unsure if the color schemes will completely coordinate, but I imagine we're getting a set akin to the Elf's Clubhouse, and I'm fine with one of those every 3-4 years.
  8. Not sure if this has already been mentioned here, but looking at the picture (I can only find the one) on IG, the sticker doesn't just say "Post," it says "North Pole Post." The "North" and "Pole" are in those little red banners on each side of the green shield. Makes you wonder if the title of the set won't be North Pole Post Office.
  9. I like the shape/curves of the vehicle, but I agree the the combination of colors may be a bit off-putting. I wonder if the color scheme won't make more sense once we see Santa's Post Office. It wouldn't surprise me if this truck was initially developed as part of this year's WV set, but was turned into its own set in order to keep piece count and cost down. Instead of $100 and 1500ish pieces, if this truck were in the set, the new WV set probably becomes $120 and 1650-1700 pieces. So, I like this strategy - keep the main set around $100, and then give us a smaller, adjunctive set to buy separately if we so desire. I have a feeling that we might need to get used to this color scheme real quick - particularly in the form of a hot air balloon.
  10. It's a pretty flower in person, and my wife likes the looks of the set quite a bit. Looks like I'll be picking up one to build for the holiday.
  11. I found pictures of the Poinsettia set, which is being released on October 1st. Hopefully photos of the WV set and Santa's Delivery Truck won't be too far behind.
  12. Pictures of the Poinsettia have popped up. I was hoping the set would be just a bit bigger, but looks nice to me overall.
  13. They're keeping tighter clamps on things this year. Last year, we already had blurry photos by now
  14. If we are indeed getting a Santa's Post Office, I guess that's a decent compromise for all the people that weren't collecting the WV line when the original PO came out, and those of us who have the original and don't want another PO. I only hope that instead of giving us Santa's Bake Shop in a couple years, we instead get that Sweet Shoppe that we should've had by now. Looking back around this time last year, maybe we'll see a leaked image in the next week or so? I'm very curious how this set is going to look.
  15. I've been collecting this line from the beginning, and I can't remember if they've ever done printed pieces in a WV set. In the early sets, particularly the bakery and post office, I remember a sign that hung off the building that indicated what the business is. I can't recall if the bakery and post office were stickers or printed pieces...but I remember that was one of the bigger changes when they re-released the original toy store set. The first toy store set, IIRC, just had a blank white plate hanging for a sign, but in the re-release they either had a sticker for that piece, or the sign was printed. But beyond those signs, the only printed pieces I can think of would be cookies or otherwise common pieces like that. But I 100% agree with @Lion King that I would prefer printing on the balloon instead of some huge stickers. I don't know...the more I think about it, the more I kinda like the idea of a hot air balloon floating over a couple downtown buildings. I could live with that - and then I'm happy to never have any more downtown-type buildings again in this line. Also, I second @Klaus-Dieter - I would love to see something special for the 15th anniversary of this line.
