I gave it a go at modding the set. Keep in mind this was like a 30 min process which is no where near the final result. I also still need to find the right pieces. But even this, in my opinion, is a huge improvement. I’ve elongated the tails on the engines, shortened the base of the ship itself and added som detail. I’m building the Gunship right now, and my concerns sadly haven’t been changed. My biggest issue is how bad the doors look. The angle on the back of the ship, isn’t the same as the angle of the doors. And there is a weird angle on top of the doors, instead of the doors going flush with the hull of the ship. Looking at it, it could be an easy fix. Also the bottom of the ship is extremely wide in the back. And that again makes the doors stand out even more. And when you open the doors, they open like the OG 2003 gunship, completely straight. Whereas the 2008 and 2013 gunship open the doors at a slight angle. Which is correct. The ice doesn’t. and the guns on top. Geez. Horrible looking. Why didn’t they use cones pieces instead? All in all a great build, and it’s massive. But those flaws….

The engines…. That also double as canons on top. Against long range or slow targets, it used two mass driver missile launchers. That’s why the rockets also roll into them :)

Am I the only one, extremely annoyed by the cannons and the doors? the doors have an angle on the top, so when they close in, they close like an external box. Why?! Even the play scale sets have doors that go almost “flush” with the body of the ship. These don’t. In my opinion it makes the back look too wide as well. And even the angle of the doors is different than the one of the back. So they have to small corners that kinda stick out behind the ship. That kinda ruins the whole thing for me… and the front of the cannons. Why?! They should be sleeker. And more conical.

There’s a cool Easter egg inside the build. At one point you see the Swedish flag ☺️ Very nice little detail!

I talked to employee at the lego store in Copenhagen last week. We talked for almost 30 minutes, and I asked about the speed champions. She told me that some would come in June, and some in August. Don’t know if she knows it for a fact, but I think June is a possibility!

I was in the lego store in Copenhagen today (since I live here), and I asked the manager about the razor crest... I asked if it would be an Amazon exclusive in Denmark as well, and he was really hesitant to answer. I then asked if it would even come to any other countries than the USA, and he said “well.... I really can’t say...but yeah...” He was REALLY silent about it, but in a way as if he new bad news. This has me frightened that the razor crest will be extremely rare?

I Got the F8 Tributo the other day. I have every single speed champion car ever made (except for the Mercedes team-gift), and I must say, no car had me looking at it for such a long time. Once I had built it, I couldn’t stop taking it with me everywhere I went in my apartment. It is AMAZING. In my opinion at least. They are something completely different. The only thing that makes me upset, is the fact that I wish they had started with 8-wide.

Im really excited about the change. I have collected since 2015. I love the cars and many of them look great in 6-wide. But really often, I think 8-wide would have been a WAY better fit. I think they should choose the width according to the real life sizes of the cars. Some cards (like formula 1/formula e ) are wider than some normal street cars. So in my head it makes sense :)
