42110 - Land Rover Defender
thekoRngear replied to 1gor's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe first check always worked for me, but after a week or two the cracking would also start to appear in the first two gears of Driving despite keeping in good condition. Reverse always would work. That being said the gearbox of 42110 is very temperamental. Edit: the situation I have described was two year's ago when I bought this kit.

Technic 2022 Set Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Technicallism's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@Maaboo35 although I (currently) do not like C(rap)+ I really think the automatic gearbox inside the A60H needs an evolution by another iteration (could be in another form factor). That gearbox had some potential. Also a truck with bigger wheels is welcomed. The 42128 is my first Technic Truck but the wheel size kinda makes me a bit unhappy, but not too much to make fuss about since it is enormous, functions packed and pleases us as it should. Plus the recent cement truck dump truck have had similar tyres (maybe the width is bigger in the tow truck). I think 8285 42143 and 42114's tyre sizes are great. Wait, did I read somewhere in the forum that truck tyre size might have been retired? If that's the case, the A60H/42114 tyres would do just fine. So, for that 1. automatic gearbox 2. bigger wheels I think a follow-up to 42114 would be sweet

[MOD] 42138 Mods and Improvements
thekoRngear replied to Void_S's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingCould not have said it any better. Till now 42139 looks very Technic-y to me. Seeing that visual that you presented instantly gave me a good feeling! This feeling needs to be felt more lol.

Technic 2022 Set Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Technicallism's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWith Toy Fair at London being a month away (if everything goes at planned), I guess we are not far away from the first hint of 1:8. Would love to see the Supra.

General Part Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGuys, I have to bring a bit different aspect to this discussion: if anyone reads the current discussion that's been held a few pages it will be clearer that we want different shapes and options for different parts. Howevr, there are certain parts of which most people want to have options i.e., the 6/8/10L beams. My thought is that we want them from Lego, but could not we also expect them from Cada? I am pretty sure the MOC designers definitely welcome if Cada introduce or allow them (while developing) these new kind of parts. If there is no reason or problem to introduce a new 8L beam then there should be no problem with Cada too. Or, is it that the bricks manufacturers all think for example, 3/5/7/9L beams are enough?

General Part Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI second that. During my modification of some builds I felt the need for 4L pins. I also think the pins with round/sphere shape should be extended by 1 or 2 stud. The only reason that held me back from saying the need for the former one is: will the 4L/5L pins be as durable? A 6L/7L axle with stop or a beam with 4/6/8L will have no issues. But a pin that big? I am a bit confused.

General Part Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI do not like the black pins on my 42128 either. They are confirmed gen 3 versions. They also don't produce the satisficing strong clutch sound.

Brunojj1's mind-opener - red supercar - free instructions now available for static version
thekoRngear replied to amorti's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBut oh boy, on plain surface it is really a joy to ride this beauty. 5 mins a Huge feat now I understand but it is never enough to drive it.

Brunojj1's mind-opener - red supercar - free instructions now available for static version
thekoRngear replied to amorti's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@brunojj1 massive thanks for prompt reply! I can play with it for 5 minutes without any hiccups (charged 3 hours). Managed to get 2/3 minutes more. By that time it starts to struggle. Been almost 11 months, the gearbox, build, driving everything works perfectly. My only gripe is all the eight shock absorbers got rusty. I honestly cannot remember if my palm sweat would get any contact during the build lol. Definitely no water contact. It's usually in a glass shelf with no sunlight. Replaced the rear 4 with newly bought Lego ones.

Brunojj1's mind-opener - red supercar - free instructions now available for static version
thekoRngear replied to amorti's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGuys, what is the maximum amount of playtime you managed to get when the battery is fully charged? I cannot find or remember Cada's documentation for this.

Technic 2022 Set Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Technicallism's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThose are properly good guess. You can discuss the predictions here: Personally, I would like to see a 42114 scale construction truck. A proper (that yields no controversy) aircraft is also overdue.

42136 - John Deere 9620R 4WD Tractor
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOh no. I did not mean that. The 42127 released at a much latter point of time when people almost lost hope for it. If the 42136 does not get to release by March, then maybe later. But now that you mentioned, the black silhouette should return (for other set)!

42136 - John Deere 9620R 4WD Tractor
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIn that case I guess it could also end up in a release style similar to 42127?

42133 - Telescopic Loader
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAnother relief one after the 42139. Looks polished and in line with the recent year's smaller sets line-up. Past few weeks was a disaster for me.

42139 - All-terrain Vehicle
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat picture is a relief. Definitely looks and feels better than all the 22H1 sets officially revealed so far Edit: Technic-wise

Technic is just for kids, and you can build anything so stop complaining!
thekoRngear replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFully agreed, on the bold highlighted part it is not normal to me either. There was a time when we (as kids) would happily build and get mesmerised by functions out of the box. I appreciate how Lego take the challenge to get something into Technic out of a real life vehicle, but the expenses mentioned above specially lacking sturdiness is worrying. There is one other point I would like to mention, the designers over the years. Since you did not buy a Technic set in the past 3 years, I think you will be pleased to see 42128's sturdiness. Use of beams and frames and techniques are top notch (yet a small problem is the turntable-adjacent 20t double bevel's structure that need to be modified as addressed and fixed by Racingbrick). This is designed by Markus Koffman who is a Legend I guess. Time flies, new designers come. Not to blame the designers solely, a Technic set's design decisions are not a one man's process. I think the same

42130 - BMW M1000RR K66
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have seen he mentioned he had hard times to make the pull-back right on the 42138 Mustang. Hmm. But then again, lots of moving parts and they are alot flimsy, really not meant to be played.

42130 - BMW M1000RR K66
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIf you watch Sariel's review you'll see the stepper does not work well for him, it jams. The super flimsy state of this bike also affects when the suspension is in work. And proves it actually is not meant to be played around, but that is (sadly) okay for newer consumers. Personally I think if someone wants great building experience with challenging sticker applying where a stand is used for the first time with display priorities, then this set is great. Some may not agree but to me, this is part two of last year's 488 GT Flexari. Maybe we will see a different vehicle this time next year. Howevr, this set, no matter what, will continue to appeal large amount of people and from there TLG might make this a regular one like 1:8 UCS supercars. They improved stuffs iteration over iteration yet the 1:8 remain primarily display queens. The bike seems to follow that route.
