Technic 2022 Set Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Technicallism's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWould love to see that. However, last I know TLG won't make a mistake releasing a licensed set before its real life version The 42142 I guess could be the surprise set saved later for this year. But then again, a fresh new surprise set would be sweet. Besides, if that Liebherr set gets delayed to next year an unannounced set is reasonable.

thekoRngear replied to MP LEGO Technic creations's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingReally liked this soundless approach. A very well thought MOC. Liked the stabilization. Wish the cab could remain horizontal when the cab's boom being raised.

thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBeen watching his videos since 2020. Just a bit of an advice: Legit criticism is also part of a review. It does not mean you have to worry about losing viewers. Always liked your enthusiam, keep at it. Liked the intro of the Airbus review!- [Not TC25] 42125 Ferrari 488 GTE

thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOnce you are successful using the friction pins kindly share the improvements in the 42145 Mods thread. It would be cool to let us know in which steps what frictionless pins are replaced.- 42145 - Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAs Sariel said and I declare: it's a masterpiece and [arguably] the best TLG Technic that ever [officially] happened in this decade so far.- [CADA] CADA General Discussion Topic
thekoRngear replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNot yet. While I do not know exact specifications of the motor I doubt even two of those will be enough to drive such vehicle. Are not those designed primarily for lights? Here someone said about mounting it on a linear actuator.- [MOC] Mclaren P1 (1:10)

thekoRngear replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt seems so. Btw since you seem pretty much excited to have the Italian red oh sorry yellow beauty couple a parts related advices: 1. Replace the Cada diff with Lego one. They are not as good. 2. Replace the shock absorbers with Lego red ones. They are very sturdy but they get rusty very easily. You won't feel good about it. Besides, not much to say from me. The half bushes are really good. The motors are very very good.- Show us your Working Place/LEGO room
thekoRngear replied to Edwin Korstanje's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOne thing always amuses me as to why the Defender does not get to show up on RB's showcase 😄- 42144 - Material Handler
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling[Not a new matter] In this video TLG kept describing how awesome it would be for kids, kids, and kids when AFOLs and many adults are pretty much excited for the set. Sets like this (along with the Zetros and Airbus) despite being Technically advanced and challenging are mostly/strictly labeled 11+ with kids modelling. Except for D11(T) and 1/8 scales, the 18+ labeled ones on the other hand till now seem pretty simple (RWD Ford Raptor, nearly empty shelled F1, the Flexari) compared to these ones. So, it hits back with this age-old debate again, should not be the 18+ ones moar challenging than the 11+ ones? Yes, I get the whole super-average consumer level marketing thing and also matured adults being less quick to Technical terms [not my words, saw this point somewhere in the forum], but still not make much sense to me. It seems to me the adults which Lego targets as 18+ actually are divided into segments. Some of them like challenging builds and full on functions, building MOCs, creating MOCs. Some of them just love building and showcasing i.e., the F1 guys maybe become happy enough just by the appearance and branding by TLG. And, then there is also a sweet spot who like both challenges, display values and functions (I take the Defender for myself). I can (almost) see Technic most probably will get further official breakdown segments from TLG. Ah, the 11+ makes the adults more excited. The 18+ [except the exceptions] can be sweet little starting kits for kids age 8 or maybe 9. This set looks purely Technic with AFOLs already being prepped to make the steering and axles beefy- 42145 - Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHas anybody seen inside the Heli there is a vertically connected red axle which has its bottom almost 1.5 stud area open. Seemed a bit interesting to me.- [MOC] Brian's Toyota Supra (1:12)
thekoRngear replied to ArtemyZotov's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAgreed.- 42145 - Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHalf of what you Technic/EB veterans talked thru went well over my head. Just tell me it will be functionally rich and will offer great play values in terms of Technic ursine creatures segment? Want to have it as my first such category set while accepting the fact it won't be used for moving (like a car) at all. I really have started to seeing this as something playworthy more like a continuation to 2021's HD Tow truck.- 42145 - Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
thekoRngear replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe new pictures of the set is out which can be found in the 2022 Technic discussions topic. From the first pic, IMHO, the rear wheels seem a bit pressured by the weight of the heli. Never owned a Lego Helicoptre before, I am excited!- 1989 BATMOBILE - 42127 ALTERNATE MODEL
thekoRngear replied to Dyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIMO It is the best Technic MOC so far in 2022 (I’ve already said it somewhere 😉). Its functions work as fluently as flawlessly as they should have been. Reminds me of the olden days Technic.- Technic General Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI simply do not like the bending and flexible nature of the now-a-days Technic sets. It makes them clumsy. Like I enjoy building the chassis of a1/8 Supercar but as soon as the panels start to hop on it kills my joy. In my childhood I got to play with three to four small-ish Technic sets. Boy, they used to function and play so well. They never felt sensitive. They were "torturable" and I have assembled and disassembled them numerous times. Bought 4 olden days Technic sets (including the 8880) in past several months, they are so bright in functioning.- General Part Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingExactly! That I also think. @Carsten SvendsenI just have checked that the soft shock absorbers (2x) that came with my new Defender are of the newer variants where the spring coils are less dense; the ones we have seen on the 42139 rough terrain ATV. Also the white rubber bands (x) seem much tighter and they are noticeably glossy. They IMO a bit too tight LOL- General Part Discussion
thekoRngear replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGuys, the black pins that came with my new Defender set (June, 2022) are (pleasingly) different. My first Defender (Nov, 2019) had those glossy black pins with strong clutch sounds. The pins that came with my HD Tow Truck (December, 2021) are notoriously almost non-clutchy and colour is also different (which have been discussed in EB forums). Howevr, the pins with new Defender are deep black, much to the glossy look and clutches very well with slightly soft clicks. What version are these black pins? The blue 3L pins also are of same nature although they are less glossy. Another thing that I observed the bushes and axles engaging pattern. When I try to insert a red bush to any new axle it sorta feels some resistance and then gets pushed in as if a friction pin is clutched one stud inside a beam hole lol. I find this helpful specially when you insert the red bushes into the 3L axles which then goes inside the differentials. I wish I get to see them from now on - 42145 - Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
