Design quirks/hallmarks of 2006-2008 sets?
Hello, There's been a small community of "Classic Style" creations which try to mimic the general design styles of a specific Lego period; such as this one from @The Brick Stop which mimics 1999-2003 Lego Star Wars. https://www.instagram.com/p/CnRAkI7Lt44/ It's not as simple as older designs having "less detail" compared to today's sets; there's a different design sensibility as a whole. More than just not having certain pieces available, there is a very specific focus on larger pieces in this era, among a number of other things. My question is: What are some of the design quirks in general of sets in the roughly 2006-2008 (or even 2005-2009) era? I'm trying to make a MOC that follows that "feel", but because this is the era I grew up with, it's a lot harder to notice the specific design sensibilities of these sets compared to some other ones. The sometimes clunky forcing of Bionicle elements is the only thing that really stands out to me. Thoughts?

Well they DO spend every direct talking for 7-10 minutes about a random, non Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest/IP people care about Square Enix JRPG coming out. You're right, however. As much as I would love this and I think it would be a good idea considering rumors that Nintendo may not have an especially big lineup this year, they don't really talk about merchandising / tie in stuff other than the announcement of the Mario movie cast. They don't even really talk about new hardware or accessories that much; general directs are very heavily focused on software within the upcoming year.

They could have not possibly made this timing any more eyebrow-raising

Very conflicted on the new Ninjago City Market possibility. Personally hoping it will be as tall as the original City and Gardens, as I've always felt that Docks stands out too much being half the height. Then again, if it is shorter, it won't make docks stand out so much. Either way, my current display is using the max amount of room, so a small part of me is hoping this doesn't blow me awayjedisquidward changed their profile photo- LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
This is going to be a really out-there theory. While I'm not suggesting causation by any means, or that this "confirms" anything, notice how after decades, we happen to get a Blacktron tribute revealed at the same exact time as the Zelda speculation / Ideas removal? Has anyone LOOKED at the Blacktron logo recently? It's the Triforce. It's even bright yellow and the same type of triangles. Am I saying that Nintendo "owns" such a basic shape? Not "comprehensively", by any means, but in the age we live in with copyright laws this convoluted and complex, I think this connection may have been referenced internally. Maybe there's some connection there? Again, this is more of an observation and less of a claim.- LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
I remember seeing leaks about Lego Games as a theme around this same time last year, and I was very hesitant. Lego fully embracing video game stuff has been the ever-elusive, since-age-5 dream, so I was preparing for it to be for the video games they themselves make. It seems that very slowly, the dream may be coming true. METAL GEAR IS HAPPENING- LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

Smash Bros will always be something people ask for, but as a hardcore (VERY hardcore) fan, it's not something we can ever expect. Its characters are from a multitude of companies, including Nintendo-associated developers that are not actually Nintendo (HAL Laboratory for Kirby, Game Freak / TPC for Pokemon), but additionally, the game is actually developed by Bandai Namco and Sora Ltd. But don't worry about getting official sets... there may be a good alternative coming soon.- LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
Despite how inherently negative it is to specifically wish NOT for a set to come out given the several hundred that we get each year, I hope the Fortnite sets are not real. While still a huge deal, the Fortnite "craze" isn't as hot as it was even last year when Lego first partnered with Epic. I have to say, when there were listings for a Lego "Gaming" theme in 2022, I was incredibly excited, but so far it's been one cancelled Overwatch set, a Horizon Zero Dawn set, and the Atari set I almost forgot about typing this. Almost nothing has come out of this, really. My intense, since-5-years-old desire for Lego to fully dive in to Video Game IPs continues to elude me. How is it that still only two characters on the Smash Bros Ultimate roster have minifigures? Shameful. Shameful and disdainful.- LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
