  1. This is my new bot. Can walk straight and turn. Uses only classical Lego PF devices, no smartphone and apps required.
  2. Hello everybody I checked that the transmission to the tracks starts having some problems after some time of operation. Others who built the excavator told me the same thing, so I did a thorough check on all points of the transmission. I finally found the weak point. I have already modified the instructions and put the new version on Bricksafe. You need to replace two gears at step15 and 25 (see figure). If you have already built the excavator, with a little patience you can make this modification without disassembling many parts. I apologise for the inconvenience.
  3. Where did you get that bucket? Is it a 3d printed object? it is really a perfect fit for this excavator.
  4. Well done, I like the orange color. And good to know that you used BrickController2. I have received several requests for help to make BrickController2 work with the excavator. For those who still have problems, I put a short tutorial on Bricksafe.
  5. Lego 42114 just arrived. One night to build it. It is just perfect for this MOC:
  6. Regarding the tracks, I think it is useful to point out that Lego produces different types of shock absorbers. The one to use in this digger is the 731c06, with soft spring. If you use the hard spring model (731c04) there is an unnecessary friction in the tracks which leads to a higher consumption of batteries and gears. The track tensioning concept is clearly visible in this video:
  7. Thank you for letting us know your progress. We hope to see it up and running soon.
  8. If I understand your second idea correctly, you propose to close the openings above the hubs with a yellow cover that when pressed activates the hub. Actually I did, but then I removed it because I thought it would be more useful to be able to see the color of the hub's indicator light. Also, the model is very heavy, so I preferred to remove anything that was not strictly necessary.
  9. Great suggestion! I implemented and tested it in few minutes without even disassembling anything. Thank you As soon as I have time, I'll make a new version 1.1 of the main arm instructions. https://bricksafe.com/pages/Flybum/lego-volvo-excavator-moc
  10. Thank you and I'm very pleased to see your work. I've ordered some Lego parts me too these days. Lego had announced a bit of a delay due to the Covid, but the orders were fulfilled perfectly as always.
  11. I'm glad you like my moc but worried because you're not the first one to ask me how to control it. If it's any consolation, I can tell you that I too had some difficulties at first that seemed impossible to overcome. After the first time you can use bricklink2 you'll see that you don't leave it anymore. It is always ready immediately and the difference between using the touch screen on the phone and a real gamecontroller is huge. I'll try to tell you the two critical points where I almost gave up: 1. The phone: I tried it with my Samsung at first, but it didn't connect. Then I realized that it was a company phone set up to block unknown connections, without giving warnings. Then I used an old Sony Z2 and it connected immediately. Obviously I take it for granted that you have a gamecontroller that claims to be connectable with Android. 2. Definition of new commands: for me in the tutorials available on the net it is not clearly explained that every time you enter a new definition you have to click the v check mark in the top right corner. If you don't, the command is lost without any feed back from the app. I hope this will help you. Look at the comments of the video in the link below and you will find other suggestions I gave to someone in the same situation as you. Good luck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D12Oa5e3KEI
  12. Thank you! This is a great suggestion. I installed scrcpy for windows on my pc and enabled developer mode on my Android tablet. Now I have the mirror of my tablet on my 4k monitor and it is easier to program. This is one step forward. The best would be to have a native app on the pc, in order to be able to save source files to be shared with others. For this I think we need to wait someone to develop a new tool, as was done in the past for the old versions of Mindstorms.
  13. You are not alone. Control+ is powerful, but I am afraid that for the moment I am one of the few that made MOCs based on it. It is fun to program with the Powered up app, not the Control + app, that is a dead app just for kids. It would be much better if we could program it on a PC, because programming a graphical interface on a mobile is really a pain. Besides, you cannot save a file and share with people. Now that someone doing my MOC is asking for help to control it, it is not easy to help. If you are interested my MOC is here. By the way, 42114 looks just perfect to use together...
  14. Yes, of course. You just plug it into a hub port. The difference with previous power functions is that you can't stack multiple connections on the same port. So if you only have one free port, as in this case, you can only connect one pair of LEDs.
