Can you really call yourselves a viable forum if you don't have a branch of your company developing cutting-edge web software to compete with Google?

I don't think Lego has released the proper specialized parts for that build yet, but if they ever find a way to get around restrictions on radioactive materials in children's toys, it'd be an impressive choice!

The split engine with the transmission in between is quite clever, and it's impressive how you got a 4-speed into a bike this small without major compromises! So you're using a round bar as a driveshaft? That's something I'd never thought of doing, but I can see it working well in tight situations without high torque loads

Questions about pneumatics

Brand new ones are often very stiff, but they get broken in over time. I've had good success with Mould King pneumatics in general (though you need to glue the heads onto the shafts of cylinders), but their valves were one thing I didn't need from them, so I don't know how they'd work.

Questions about pneumatics
2GodBDGlory replied to pekka111's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI don't quite understand what you're talking about in the first section, but it sounds like what you're looking for might be something like this autovalve mechanism: I'm not sure if I've built this particular one, but I know I've used similar designs, and it allows for one motor to control one cylinder in both directions. As far as force for that newer switch, I'm away from my Lego at the moment and can't test, but I'd say it's probably fairly similar, but because it's wider and better braced, it doesn't feel like it needs as much. It should be just fine for motorized switching.

Those switches you showed are very stiff, but there are ways to motorize them. 2GodBDGlory replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, I guess it depends whose definition of illegal we would have been using. Some seem pretty draconian, and so a lot of models would be bending parts slightly beyond what would be allowed (I don't want to be doing math to ensure something is a perfect right triangle, if it works fine, for example!) Personally I'm probably more comfortable with illegal techniques than most people, but I think for a contest the only options are to ban such techniques with some documentation provided for what constitutes illegal, or to allow it and let voters decide if it bothers them or not. Just my thoughts, thanks!

Animals are cool, but it's a pretty intense challenge, and I'm not sure many people would be up for it. I don't know if I would, to be honest! I hate missing contests, but trying to model both organic shapes and organic motions might be too intimidating for me to put off my other projects to compete

Advanced Lego robotics
2GodBDGlory replied to pekka111's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, EV3/NXT is definitely incompatible with the rest, but the other four are at least somewhat compatible. I think if you wanted to build something using both a Spike hub and a Control+ hub, getting them to communicate might not be possible, but motors can generally be swapped between the four lower systems you mentioned. Powered Up and Control+ are very much the same system, with pretty much full compatibility (It's really just System vs Technic branding, and different apps). WeDo 2.0 has the same motors and some different sensors from the Spike ones, but I'm not sure where software support for those sensors is.

The change to Unimog tires and Defender rims is probably wise from a usability standpoint. The studfull dark green bodywork just looks so good, and the scale allows for some interesting techniques! The large-scale V8 is pretty cool too! Similar to the old 2x2 square ones, but, well, round!
