42198 Bush Plane
anyUser replied to msk6003's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI composed a simple rudder setup for the tail: For me it is not necessary to have a fixpoint at the lower end: I have also reduced the unsightly hole in the wings by adding a 1/2 beam (7M) to the 'flaps':

42203 Tipping Dump Truck
anyUser replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe truck is tiny compared to 42128 Tow Truck: It'll also look funny compared to the Volvo truck from 42175. It would matter less if there was only one rear axle as a doule axle indicates a heavy duty truck. On the suggestion of using 49 mm truck tyres: - bigger cabin (orange one is adapted from 8052) - overall width increase from 13L to 15L. However, I think the model has potential for improvement: Because of the 19L and 13L frames the truck chassis does not need many parts: I think it should be feasible to drop the 3x5L lever on the tipping mechanism and move the linear actuator to the upper tier: The left setup works fine for me. The relocation would free space to add a differential on rear axle(s). In the cabin seems to be space to add a 4-cylinder fake engine.

42203 Tipping Dump Truck
anyUser replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFrom your Studio file above: There are two 11L beams used for the steered axle. I believe these are too long. I have used 9L ones. It's not easily seem from your rendering but better from below in the digital model that the front wheels are protunding.

42203 Tipping Dump Truck
anyUser replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat'll improve the tipping 'process': with two 12-tooth gear as shown in my picture above it feels to take ages between the two end positions. Nice. How did you find out about the interior of the cabin? (I gave up) I think there is a brown axle used for door not the red 3L axle-pin-with friction

42203 Tipping Dump Truck
anyUser replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingSteering setup could be pretty basic: (I don't have the 13L frame) The most surprising so far appears to be the wheel cover (from small Bugatti, Part 2459 - new in black?) that is mounted askew. The cabin is simple, effective and stable. The front basically is a sheet on its own. Why do they use this part in black on the door? It's available from the Ford in Dark/Earth Blue. Truck appears - too - dark and dull with dark grey. I decided to add a streak of colour to it:

42203 Tipping Dump Truck
anyUser replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI believe this could work: Na, it'sprobably four frames: two 19L in the back and two 13 long at the front. (but yes: two left, two right)

[MOD] 42128 - Tow Truck - Mods and Improvements
anyUser replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI would like to show a modification of the original truck that has been on my mind for a long time. Only in the past weeks I was motivated to build it. I wanted a shorter version of the truck. Instead of keeping all of the functions and try to squeeze them in a smaller space the idea was to drop them: No third rear axle No raise/lower function to the remaining ones simplify the crane: no raise/lower no extension no rotation Side outriggers are not necessary This is where i started And this is the current state (as shown above): I kept the front (left to the green line) and rear section (right of the blue line) from the original truck. All of the mentioned functions were removed and the two units connected: The lime beams, red 3L pins, and 6x4 grey angle beams indicate the new connections. Then I have buildthe rear of the cab. The funnel has been placed behind as there was no space in its original position (I wanted to use the 3x11 curved shell). The final truck is shorter by 14 studs than the 42128 set: Changes on the decorative parts have been made because I don't have the second set of all the required elements.

General Part Discussion
anyUser replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI could be beneficial to bracket the suggested gears: The extra gears may prevent the load bearing ones to be pushed apart. If you push either of the axles towards the center I'll notice increased resistance on the rotation. so any pushing force towards the center of the gearbox should be avoided.

42175 Volvo FMX Truck & EC230 Electric Excavator
anyUser replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI've modified the box thing. It can fit a two-pump compressor and an air tank. Operation ist from the outside using a crank: For coupling the tube to the excavator I am using a modified version of this part: I used a small drill to open up in the middle.

2025 Technic Sets Discussion
anyUser replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks, that is very reasonable: It'll allow for a brown axle with stop for the worm gear drive. from 1st and 3rd counting: I am at 47 parts. + 4 tyres + 1 shovel = 52

Lego 42152 - Fire Fighter Aircraft - Main gear not going up completely
anyUser replied to DonTomasino's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHello, I believe I also had trouble with the main gear not going working fully. If I remember correcty I misplaced {something} in the building steps 28 through 33. Did you check these?

42145 Airbus Rescue Helicopter MODs and Improvements
anyUser replied to SNIPE's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingSorry for late reply: I don't see in your video when the motor stops as you have reported. From they noise I may guess that there is a little bit more fraction in your setup than in mine. I haven't heard of but perhaps there is an overload protection build into the motor?

42145 Airbus Rescue Helicopter MODs and Improvements
anyUser replied to SNIPE's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling0. This only happens if you select the fast rotation mode of the rotor? 1. Is the motor still running? You should hear a "whining" noise. 2. If the motor is running: There is a clutch installed. If the motor stalls because of too much friction the clutch will give a rattling noise (in addition to the motor)

Could there be other wheels / tires in addition to the mandatory amount of 49.5 x 20s to drive the vehicle? (I am thinking about the 49.5 x 14)

8880 - Issues with build
anyUser replied to Verengard's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI checked my model: If no gear is selected - e.g neutral mode = none of 1, 2, 3, or 4 engaged - the pistons are not moving if the car is moved forward or backward
