[CONTEST] Return of the Classic Pirates - Vote Counting
We are not an image hosting service. I am open for debate, but I don't think we should host terrabytes of images. Obviously, some smaller images like icons etc are perfectly fine. While I am definitely in favor of exploring this option, at the moment we are losing money (i.e. our income from ads is lower than our hosting costs). So adding more hosting costs (even if this is minor) is not viable at the moment. Maybe we should reconsider our hosting options and I would love to discuss this. Because I do agree it is probably the #1 issue with this forum, especially using it Mobile.

Good point. It's time to end the voting debate. Has been going on for far too long. I suggest that the people who feel depressed create a PM conversation (or a different topic) where they can discuss their feelings, contest results, voting criteria and what not. (I can split some posts into a new topic if you like) WE END THE CONTEST VOTING DEBATE HERE. Next contest we will try an entirely different thing for voting anyway.

This is exactly what the jury did with last contest- Generic Contest Discussion
No not really. We will probably do public voting again next time. I kinda like this idea. But with 3 point per entry max, do you still have 25 points in total? Maybe 3 is on the low side, but a total points of 25 with a limit of 5 per entry could work.- Generic Contest Discussion
Public voting can be more biased. Voting for the helicopter because they like helicopters. Voting for yellow, because they don't like red. And even people voting for certain members or members from certain countries (yes, this can be a thing). A jury is supposed to be more neutral when it comes to these things. Not saying that is always the case, but they are less biased than (part of the) public voters.- Generic Contest Discussion
Exactly. And come to think of it; do all members the same sticker supplier?!- Generic Contest Discussion
I knew there were some things I forgot. Thanks for the heads-up. We do need to know how many parts everybody has. Otherwise it won't be fair.- Generic Contest Discussion
That is a valid point and could be the reason to change the voting scheme. Probably in a year or so. I'm currently writing an elaborate list of requirements and voting criteria. We need to think of every little detail. Otherwise it's not clear for people what to build and how to build it. I will discuss the results in a focal group, have some Teams meeting to iron things out. After that, I need to run it by legal to see if there are any issues. This process will be repeated a couple of times until we have a bullet proof list of requirements and voting criteria so we can all enjoy the contest. We can't just simply wing it start a contest now can we- Generic Contest Discussion
Agreed. Max 10 sounds logical. Not sure about the minimum number of entries. We could do 6 like usual. Otherwise 10, 10, 5 would be an option.- Generic Contest Discussion
Exactly how I feel about it. I am not opposed to trying this out next contest. This is something which has been suggested by other members as well.- Generic Contest Discussion
That's why we have a treshold of 50 posts before a new members can vote. Exactly this. Has been in place for quite some time now.- Generic Contest Discussion
Sounds like an excellent idea While we're at it, can we get some AI Admins and Mods as well- Generic Contest Discussion
Exactly how I feel about it. We can make it as difficult and specific as we want, but we will always run into problems and have debates.- Generic Contest Discussion
In the end we had two pages of votes, which isn't too bad.- Generic Contest Discussion
I'm pretty sure lots of people in Technic will cast the right votes, but there will be other members who simply vote for "bigger is cooler". That was one of the reasons we wanted to try jury voting. One of the other reasons was that I had to beg for people to vote in the last contest, which led me to believe that community engagement wasn't as strong as we hoped it would be. I'm perfectly fine with public voting for next contest (or 50/50). But like I said in my previous comment; I basically had to beg for people to vote. Cool. Thanks.- [TC25] Technic Shrinking Contest - Results Topic
Our initial thought was to provide the Top-3. But people liked to know their score. That's why we published the entire list. Maybe we can publish a Top-10 next time. Everybody not in the Top-10 scores 11th place.- [TC25] Technic Shrinking Contest - Results Topic
It's time for a 10 Year Anniversary contest- [TC25] Technic Shrinking Contest - Results Topic

Exactly!- [TC25] Technic Shrinking Contest - Results Topic
You definitely impressed us. But in a contest with 23 impressive entries, the differences are very small which can result in a lower ranking.- [TC25] Technic Shrinking Contest - Results Topic
To be really honest; this is basically the reason why I am not a big fan of people suggesting contest ideas. But let's not start that discussion here.- [TC25] Technic Shrinking Contest - Results Topic
You beg to differ on almost everything and it's getting really tiresome. Even in the results topic you manage to start a discussion and basically question, and thus disrespect, our decision. It's unbelievable.- Generic Contest Discussion
I won't. I'm done discussing and explaining. - Generic Contest Discussion
