LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
+1. I love the helmets and midi-scale ships (even if I'm yet to pick up any of the latter yet), and I can see the appeal of the dioramas even if I don't particularly want any. But a brick-built logo set sounds incredibly boring to me.

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
I didn't get the sense they were indoctrinated against the Jedi, more so that they were just taught the ways of their own Force religion (which aside from the darker magical elements, doesn't seem that far removed from the Jedi). And if that one thing is all you know, but you have doubts about it, then the first different thing that comes along - particularly in such an isolated community - is always likely to have some sort of appeal. I don't find it so unusual, after all it's certainly not the first time a Star Wars character gets disillusioned with their surroundings and wants to go explore the galaxy instead.

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
Think I'm over the whole flashback thing now, too... a quarter of this series will have been (essentially) the same flashback. I like the reveals and story elements and Kelnacca being a badass, but did that need to be a whole episode?

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
I agree with this. Is it JangBricks who uses the 'volume of stuff' metric when reviewing sets? I'd sacrifice detail in the main build for a couple side builds, it makes overpricing easier to swallow. (Of course I'd rather have sets be priced reasonably to start with, but...)

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
The Night Trooper doesn't look very... Night Trooper-y. Maybe better in person but to me it looks like the helmet needs more gold. I like the Sarlacc's play feature with the flying tentacles though, that's fun!

[MOC] World Racers, tribute 2024
Never thought I'd see a World Racers tribute! Very nice. Perhaps I'm mis-remembering the colour scheme, but could it do with some red or black highlights?

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
I'm still not convinced it's a Sith to be fair. But yea, Sol had a line in the episode (which I know can't remember) which made me go "welp, he's gonna die soon"

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
Episode 4 was fine. It felt like a means to an end to get the characters all in the same place. Disappointed we didn't get to see much of Kelnacca, but Ki-Adi Mundi's cameo was fun!

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
OK, L3-G0 is really clever. I might have to pick them and Darth Rey up on Bricklink. Both sets look good. I doubt I'll pick them up, but they look like such good dumb fun. I'm glad they made these after all.

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
The spice cream was a little on the nose... I agree that the Mandalorian had me hooked more immediately than this does. Only thing I'll mention is there must be more to this flashback than is being let on. At this point I think we're meant to believe that Mae tried to kill Osha, but equally, all we actually saw was her setting fire to the book. Next thing we know, suddenly there's a massive inferno and everyone else is dead, with basically no explanation. There are gaps here that I think will be filled - I don't think this is the last time we'll hear about what happened on Brendok.

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
I could, but as usual I think it's people wilfully misinterpreting events to suit their own narrative. I'm assuming people are upset about the whole miraculous conception thing, but as you said - it's fiction, so it doesn't really matter I thought the episode was OK! Some fun stuff in there. I do like how quickly they're moving things along; I wasn't expecting a whole episode of flashback, let alone this early on, and I like that it gave us a good chunk of backstory all at once rather than dripfeeding it.

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
X-wing miniatures just posted a model of what the Vector in the show looks like (which by the way - holy crap they work fast!). It looks nice enough and a LEGO set would be cool, but I think I'd still rather have one of the High Republic design from the comics. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GPu_0FyWQAA6oCj?format=jpg&name=large

2025 Space sets
Agreed, I'm surprised this even got described as a space set to start with.

Everything Star Wars [SPOILERS]
Yes! This is the first time I'm really going in on the High Republic/pre-TPM era; I went in with zero expectations and so far it's pretty solid. The fight choreography is great. The vibe feels very similar to the Phantom Menace - Jedi doing their thing in the galaxy combined with a bit of detective work. In that sense the showrunners have nailed it so far.

Star Wars is kinda fading
I'm reminded of a meme that went "one of our core company values is: number go up. This aligns with our other, important core value: rate at which number go up". Indeed, I think it's natural that most companies target profit. What's more problematic IMO is then chasing profit growth to satiate shareholders, which is achieved either by raising prices (which affects demand) or lowering costs (which affects quality), and neither is unsustainable in the long run as you say. The Nicholson video I mentioned above talked about Disney doing the latter to theme parks to the extent that the user experience is hollow compared to what it used to be, because so many corners have been cut to maintain rate at which number go up. It's similar to what happened with certain tech/subscription services, but now I'm getting way off topic. I'm still enjoying my Star Wars, so I don't see it as being on a downward trajectory at least in terms of quality. But I can certainly see the corporate claws getting further into everything surrounding Star Wars, which is not nice to see.

Star Wars is kinda fading
I don't know if Star Wars itself is fading, rather I think it's a product of Disney's attitude. I've thought about this a lot since watching that Jenny Nicholson video (which is incredible, by the way). They seem/seemed to think that slapping a Star Wars label on something was a license to print money. That's evidenced partially by their initial plans to have a SW movie *every year*, which got scaled back, and the subsequent glut of D+ series, which now seems like it might get scaked back. IMO they've overestimated how easy it is for people to burn out on it. I think people still count themselves as Star Wars fans, but it's no longer possible to keep up with the new media - there's just too much, too fast, so you have to pick and choose what you consume. And that's not even considering the shorter attention span of kids, who are TLG's target audience. That sucks for LEGO, as they kinda need to follow what Disney do to piggyback on the marketing. I don't know if it will lead to the kind of vicious cycle that @CloneCommando99 mentions - after all, TLG has tried out a fair few new ideas or set concepts in the last few years that aren't linked to new material. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But the burnout effect means that people are just less interested on the whole, which is a shame, as some of the sets are actually really good in their own right. I've watched and liked pretty much everything SW that's been released recently, so this isn't a 'Disney Star Wars sucks' rant. More so a worry that Star Wars is not and will not be immune to mismanagement from the late-stage capitalist attitude that Disney seems to be embracing.

Flying Scotsman 4472
Lovely model! I would've said bright green is closer to the LNER apple green, but this shade is an excellent match for its current BR green livery. Besides - and this goes for the coaches, too - there's always room for a bit of artistic license. Flying Scotsman pulled all sorts of rolling stock on world tours, not to mention that these days steam trains will basically pull whatever heritage railways can get their hands on. And after all, it did make an appearance in Rev W Awdry's Railway Series, so even fitting the Sodor vibe could be considered canon!

[MOC] One Way Out
Oh wow, the lights really send it up another notch!

[MOC] A little starfighter I built
Very nice! I like the colour scheme and the shaping is lovely - a hint of A-wing for sure. I think it looks better with the shorter windscreen; although the longer one is still good, the shorter one makes it feel a little more aggressive IMO. The only suggestion I would make is to not have so many grille tiles, particularly around the outside where they could be replaced with either different greebling or just tiled over.

Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
See I think this is a much better way of doing the mechs (mecha? I never know what the plural is). For people like Boba Fett who have a lot of gadgets it's fine, but as you say, incorporating aspects of ships like the Luke mech does makes them far more interesting.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
I've always been a bit uncomfortable when people treat LEGO purely as another get rich quick scheme, so I think it's great. And it means I have one less justification to get the Venator, which can only be good for my wallet! I believe the look of the Star Destroyer was mentioned to be inspired by Kintsugi, so it's not a stretch to assume the same for the troopers. Did we ever get a TROS Kylo Ren helmet? That was also done in a Kintsugi style, so could be a yardstick for how these new helmets would look.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
My vote is going to teal, because... Well, I like teal that said, I think they're all interesting options, although I'm not too fussed about dark azure. What roles would we assign the new colours? Teal could perhaps be pilot commander (somewhere between blue and green)?

A little something I made.
Eurobricks is not a file hosting site - you'll have to embed a link from another image host such as Flickr or Imgur if you want to include the picture. Cute engine though!

[MOC] British Rail Class 20
This looks great! I think the Railfreight livery would have the most visual interest, personally.

[MOC] 1400mm X-wing
I know the size is in the name (1.4m), but every time I see an update from you, I'm astonished at how big this is going to be! And excited for the end result...
