Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you very much for sharing this! I really enjoyed building the gearbox for this car! Also the exponential speed changes shocked me. So it looks like this car has two neutral gears. The first one is in the gearbox itself, and the second one is part of the DNR selector. Now imagine this transmission but with a multiplier stepper (45 degree intervals). We could stack two of these transmissions together and get a 64 speed transmission! I also wonder about any other applications with this drum fork system. Maybe we could see some full RC sets with a remotely controlled distribution gearbox?

I don’t wanna see so many specialized panels, and the aesthetic feel much more like late 2000s or early 2010s technic

Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat guy with the inappropriate facial expression strikes again! I am genuinely IN SHOCK that they finally made a 7 speed transmission. It is not just a reskinned bugatti/laborghini/daytona, it is a completely new car and I love it! I love gearboxes, especially when LEGO Technic sets introduce some brand new types of gearboxes!

Unbrickme replied to msk6003's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGuy with the inappropriate facial expression strikes again! Anyways, I am SHOCKED that LEGO actually made a boat with pneumatics, for the first time too! Last time we had anything even close to this was with the search sub in 1997. Also the way you pump air is with a hand crank operated pneumatic compressor. Basically the same setup as in any motorized pneumatic set, but with a crankshaft instead of a motor. I wonder why this is the case, instead of just having a manual pneumatic pump. Maybe there's official motor upgradability with instructions included? Just like the old power functions manual pneumatic sets, where you could upgrade it with the power functions motor set? I am VERY excited for this, and to see just how well the manual pneumatic compressor works, and whether you will be able to upgrade it with a motor. Even if there are no official motor upgrade instructions, it should be very easy to just attach a motor to the crankshaft.

Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat would not be a problem on the real crane since the real one does not have those white ball stabilizers

Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe shot right after that one shows the counterweights falling off on a flat surface, but I actually appreciate you pointing that out and in future videos I’ll definitely try to avoid unrealistic play like putting it on a small rocks. And I definitely should’ve included more shots of that I’ll do my best not to make the same mistake. Anyways, no I don’t think it’s geared too fast. It goes at a good speed for the set. I feel like the superstructure motors have enough torque.

Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe counterweights often fall off even on perfectly flat surfaces. That was just the first shot of that shown in my video. You pick up something heavy, turn the superstructure, the model tips sideways and the counterweights go falling off. There are plenty of other ways the counterweights always fall off. Or even if the superstructure gets stuck, then released, and the counterweights fall off. I’m glad you liked it, and thank you for explaining how to clean those white ball stabilizers. I also appreciated your explanation on making the set truly measure weight.

Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI strike again! Personally I think it's a phenomenal set. Its proportions don't bother me at all. However, it has other REAL problems, like those supporting white balls, the tracks snapping off while turning around, and those counterweights not being attached at all to the crane.

Racingbrick Explains how to fix LEGO Technic, Powered Up, and More
Unbrickme replied to Unbrickme's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI appreciate the supporrt, but I am also incredibly grateful for all the honest opinions shared about my video! The only way I can learn, improve, and make better content is if people aren't afraid to criticize me. Reading all of these comments was a nice change of pace from all the "great video" comments I typically get on all my videos. I appreciate the support of my audience, but I value honesty even more

Racingbrick Explains how to fix LEGO Technic, Powered Up, and More
In an in person interview I did with the legendary racingbrick, I asked him many questions regarding powered up, technic itself, gearboxes, and much more. I strongly suggest to watch it, since it provides a ton of useful information.

Unbrickme replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIn this case it actually says "retired product" like on all discontinued sets. It's never coming back. When the error of taking it off the website, and returning happened, it never said "retired product." I'm guessting it's retired because that XL motor literally had the same torque as the L motor, and was identical in almost every way except for the form factor. Supposedly it could handle slightly more load before its power was cut by the hub, but it was never worth it to use in your own creations.- 42146 - Liebherr LR13000
