  1. Wow man, thanks for the tip ! I've like that set since the first time I saw it but I could not fin any way to justify spending 130 euros for it. It "only" costs 99 euros on the spanish amazon, now I'm really considering pulling the trigger.
  2. Jabba's palace seems nice, but at 130 euros it's really really expensive. Lego SW fans will probably buy it, but these products are directed to kids and that kind of price makes it a luxury toy, that few parents will be able to afford. I know that prices are continuously going up (and this is actually true of every product of any kind) but this is really getting ridiculous. Considering its size, this set should be priced at 100 euros max IMHO. I'll probably buy it anyway since I'm a Jabba fan... do you guys know if the price has any chance to drop a little at one time or another ?
  3. So the tie interceptor is just a miniature version ? I thought it would be a ~500 pieces set. For now the only ones I'm planning to buy are the tie fighter and droid escape. The x wing doesn't seem that much better than the old one, just different.
  4. My main aim is teaching them how to follow the instructions. You have to follow the steps, recognize the pictured pieces (not easy for a child, they will often times have to count the studs to make sure they get the right one) and place them just like they are in the picture. For this they need to have a good grasp of space and it will be a very hard task for most of them in the beginning. But I want it to be fun too of course, which is why I want them to build things they can actually play with afterwards. They have no idea of the infinite creative possibilities of lego, and before they can create, I believe they have to get a glimpse of what's possible.
  5. I am a teacher and I decided to teach my pupils (ages 4-5) how to build lego by following instructions. I need some ideas on what to make them build. We have a big box of lego parts, most of which are basic bricks and plates. Since there will be around 10 children using the box at the same time, I really need to avoid using "fancy" pieces because we really don't have many of them. Same goes for colors : I must let them pick any color they want, otherwise there will be a shortage of the demanded color very fast. We do have quite a few doors and windows though. I'm sure 99% of the pupils never followed lego instructions so I will keep it simple. Here are two ideas I whipped up in LDD, do you have any other ideas of fun and simple things to build that mainly use very basic bricks ? Thanks

It's not about 2 seconds. It's not like this particular change was the only one that I didn't like, far from it actually. And no I didn't forget that Lucas created this. Just because I liked what he did back then doesn't mean that I'll like everything he does. Just like you can enjoy one album for a musician but not like the next one, even though they have the same creator.

Personally, I just stick to original, pre-special edition versions. I will never watch any other editions, to me they don't exist. [rant] I don't care for the prequels either. Look what Lucas did to boba fett. One of the biggest reasons why he was so popular was the fact that he was mysterious and that little was known about him : everyone could use his or her imagination. But episode II ruined this completely. [/rant]
  8. I don't know if it has been done yet, but it would be nice if Lego re-issued the popular/iconic sets that were first released decades ago. What sets would you like to see if this was going to happen ? Here are my choices : And pretty much anything related to these themes... They really had a charm that I can't find in today's sets. Maybe because I grew up in the late 80's-early 90's. Lego could do a poll on their website to see which sets deserve a re-issue. Now let's see your choices !
  9. I really hope they will rehash jabba's palace and the sail barge, with more details and new alien figures. Imagine a big palace with a big door, a hall way where you would be greeted by bib fortuna and gamorrean guards. Then you would have the main room with jabba, his band and all sorts of weird creatures. In the basement, the droid maintenance room and a prison cell. Then of course you would have the rankor's lair. I'm just day dreaming here, there's not much chance that lego would make so many new figures, but I think it is reasonable to hope for an improved version of the palace along with at least 2 real new figures. Btw, why did they release the endor set now ? It would have made more sense if they did it for the ROTJ anniversary. Knowing that they did this we can hope for new jabba sets to be released before 2013.
  10. Just finished building mine, here's a quick pros/cons to sum up my opinion : Pros : -great looking, very faithful to the "real" one. A real eye catcher. -nice internal details Cons : -too much stickers -only one minifig can fit in the cockpit (I would have loved to put Han AND Chewie in there) -droids and at last one stormtrooper should have been included All in all a good set, which I don't regret buying. I had that same problem too until I realized that big piece has to be pushed into the white plate next to the missile turret. It's not easy to get it in but once you do it's secure.
  11. I'm building a Lego set (7965) and I came across parts that might be misprinted : Are the green screens supposed to fade to white on the upper part ? If it is indeed a misprint, is it possible to ask Lego for a free replacement ? Thanks
  12. Would you recommend the visual dictionary and/or the character encyclopedia ? I don't know what to expect from these books. If they only are glorified catalogs I'll pass, but if they provide some insight about how the sets are designed and interesting anecdotes, then I'll buy them.
  13. Here in france the prices at the lego site are high. Amazon generally has the most interesting prices and they have free shipping, which is also a big plus. So I don't see myself ordering from lego anytime soon.
  14. I'm more into the star wars original trilogy stuff, particularly droids/aliens related stuff ! I just build for fun : building a lego set is always a relaxing and pleasant experience for me, and when the build is over I like to check out all the details and play with all the features available. I will also become a dad very soon, and I hope to pass the lego love to my son. In the back of my mind when I build a set, I know that one day he will re build it :)
  15. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The endor set indeed seems to have a lot going for it, but I'm not a big ewok/endor fan, I'm more into tatooine and aliens stuff ! I hope future releases will address these themes (a new cantina, sandcrawler or jabba related stuff... that would make my day). For now I'm ordering the falcon, plus one c3po and 2 stormies from bricklink to make the set perfect !
