42146 - Liebherr LR13000
kiwimtnbkr replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOkay, I've got it now...posters are allowed to bag and insult the Lego Group for their business decisions because they are a 'faceless corporation' but calling said posters out on it isn't. Gotcha!

kiwimtnbkr replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAnd I am expressing my opinion that some of the posters in this forum come across as whingers. If YOU can't deal with that, and the shoe fits, then maybe this public forum isn't for you either.

42146 - Liebherr LR13000
kiwimtnbkr replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAnd what is the long term clutch power of these other sets? Is the plastic these parts are moulded from as good as what Lego's is? Will it have the same longevity as Lego? They are cheap because they have been ripped off from other designers who have already done the hard work in designing and building them and spent the time to make up good followable instructions - nor have they had to deal with the patent owners for the actual equipment. And I have yet to see someone from within this thread who has said that MK does it better actually show the MK set that they have bought and built...it astounds me that people are ripping Lego sets to shreds based on photos and photos alone. Having read this entire thread, the whinging from posters is phenomenal - if you want 100% accurate and absolutely everything to scale then go and buy diecast. Or go and get a job at Lego and become a designer for these 'flag ship' models and then you'll start to understand the requirements that a global company like Lego have to meet. The same whingers in this thread are funnily enough the same whingers from the R9800 and D11 threads...too much whinging and not enough building. I, for one, will be buying it with the $$ I've been putting aside every payday since the set was announced....it'll get built and then as the MOCs for it start to appear to improve it, it'll get torn apart and rebuilt. Just like I did with the R9800 and the Efferman undercarriage improvement and the Efferman conversion from face shovel to backhoe.

42131 - CAT D11 Bulldozer
kiwimtnbkr replied to Maaboo the Witch's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt might be time for this thread to be closed as it's turned into a whinge-fest of 'it's too expensive because it's only got this many hubs/motors' - maybe 42100 was a bargain and now we are seeing the true price?, PF vs PU, designers who may or may not be working at TLG to name but a few. I really hope that the designer of 42131 doesn't read some of what has been posted because it's been flying pretty close to 'character assassination' of him and those who work at TLG and made the decisions regarding 42131. I wonder how some of you would stand up if the roles were reversed. Constructive criticism I get but that's been few and far between in this thread....

42114 Wheel Dozer
kiwimtnbkr replied to M_longer's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingdrove past a motorway construction site today and a wheel dozer fitted with a GPS grade control system caught my attention, something similar to this system here, but it was only a single mast and not the dual mast system as seen in the brochure. Anyone got any good ideas on how to stimulate this with the white dome at the top?

42030 - Volvo L350F MODs and Improvements
kiwimtnbkr replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMy son and I would gratefully received any other pics you have to share of the top of the engine bay and around the pivot point. We're pretty sure we've worked out which pieces you've used but any more in-close pics would be fantastic. And can you confirm for us what pieces you used to build the external air filter and the additional filter/oil reservoir.

kiwimtnbkr replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingUnless I am have a 'complete boy look' or I am totally confused, I can't see either an item 32523 or the alternate item 41482 anywhere in the parts lists for the 42030. I am happy to be corrected though if I am wrong.
