Apart from the color, the batteries are identical as far as i know. I have one of each hub, and the batteries both work just fine in either hub :)

I just measured some of my 20 tooth gears with crossaxles again, and found something interesting..i fixed them in place on a crossaxle, sizes changed depending on which way it was.. Measuring the same 20t straight gear (69779), fixed in place on a crossaxle, it had 21.79mm in one direction, and 21.88mm in the other (from tip to tip, aligned with the crossaxle "+") Tested a 6 other gears of same type, with same result on all of them.. For the 20t bevel gear (18575), it was 21.26mm, and 21.40mm (tested on 2 tan, and 1 black) I suspect this is because of the way the axle hole is designed, wider in one direction than the other..kinda annoying tho :P

Awesome, it will be interesting to see their answer! And yes, i meassured from tip to tip, i do suspect my caliper needs calibration tho, so i will re-test tomorrow, along with some 12 and 16 tooth, just for completeness (new-ish and barely used) :)

I just tested a few as well with a digital caliper, i got similar values (almost brand new/barely used gears): Straight 20t: Blue with cross axle (69779): 21.79mm Green clutch (81346): 21.79mm Bevel 20t: Blue clutch (35185): 21.46mm Tan with cross axle (18575): 21.35mm

Just for fun, i checked my collection of PU XL motors, and all 10 of them has a CE symbol on (from 2x42099, 42100, 42109, 42114, 88014, some bought years ago)..so it must be something else, unless it really is retiring :)

Weird..the XL motor shows up fine, but retired, however the hub doesnt show up at all for me when i search for it on lego.com (the retired robot inventor/large hub does however)..

I dont think it will be a hub, in the json data from their webserver, it says "isBatteryOperated: false"..im leaning more towards a new motor or sensor of some kind. :)

I totally understand the confusion, its just a "set" with 1 piece..Not much of a "set" in the general sense, but i dont know what else to call it, the actual part inside probably has some other number. The other "sets" in the 8801x area also just have 1 piece, like the hub, large motor, angular motor, etc. "piece_count: 1" is what LEGO's server said, would be weird to include that info if it were just a part..the main thing tho, is that it shows up under building instructions, like other sets (altho theres no picture or instructions to download). For example, with the LEGO Education small angular motor, thats set 45607, so its a set with 1 piece, and that 1 piece is the motor, and has part number 68488..if that makes sense :) Anyway, its all speculation..it could be anything i guess, we will see soon..ish :D

I thought about that too, but i think the dimensions would be too big for that too, unless theres a lot of extra packaging inside the box. I bought a couple of the small angular motors (45607), and they came in small cardboard boxes that were not much larger than the motor itself (motor is around 32x40x24mm, plus the cable). Of course this would be targeted less towards education, and might have a fancier box, but still..seems a bit too big. Could it be some kind of new motor for the upcoming Liebherr 42146, or maybe one of the other upcoming sets?

The fact that i found it by searching for building instructions, it has a productnumber 88019 (close to the other C+/PU "sets"), and in the JSON data the server returns, it says "piece_count: 1" :)

Yeah, thats what im thinking too. Since this is a set, it must be for the packaging and not the piece inside.. :)

Anyone know what 88019 might be? It pops up if you search for it in structions, but without image or instructions available. Other sets in that area are various C+ stuff, curious what this could be.. Inspecting the data from the server, it seems it will come May, contain 1 piece, and not be battery operated or have blinking lights (so probably not a new hub, maybe new motor or sensor?)

Yeah, im in Copenhagen, so ~3-4 hours from Billund (With public transport)! But, even tho they claim that nonstandard parts gets sent from their Billund facility, the package arrived with what appears to be a German parcel/postage label on..Saw it on my previous order too, but this time, i noticed it had a tiny tracking code on, which hinted it was via Germany (it ended with "DE"). When checking the tracking code via postnord.com,it shows its a package from Germany to my city (no mention of Billund), however on dhl.com, it says its a shipment from Billund to my city.. I suspect they send stuff in bulk with DHL, which is why it goes to Germany (via air i suspect, DHL has facilities in Billund airport..that would also explain the "up to 10 days for shipping", even in DK).. Next order is already on its way..ordered 28 November, shipped yesterday..so it should arrive around January 10th or so..if it takes the same scenic route :D Aaaaaaanyways, im usually in no hurry, so its all good..(only slightly annoying thing is their order status thing, some kind of activity indicator, besides "in warehouse",would be nice for these slower orders..) :D

Just for the record, my order arrived today. Everything as ordered, no extras, nothing missing. Ordered on october 7th, arrived december 28th, i think thats a new record (at least for me) :D

I have an order from 7 october, also still in warehouse.. Wrote them yesterday, to ask whats up, and if it will get sent this year, no response yet tho..

I wondered the same thing about the motors and what it actually updates. It turns out it seems there actually is a flashable microcontroller inside. The hubs are identical, except for the color of the plastic, so you should be able to use the battery from Spike Prime with the hub from Mindstorms Robot Inventor, if you can get your hands on it. Lego doesnt sell the large battery seperately on their website for some countries (not sure if thats a global thing, or just some countries?), but at least here in Denmark, its avaiable via shops that sell LEGO Education stuff as a seperate item.. :)

Thats exactly how i found a place to buy mine as well. :) For those in Denmark, i suggest taking a look at the KidsPrint reseller, as thats where i bought mine, along with the 3x3 LED matrix (45608). I dont think the other danish resellers listed on the website sell to individuals (havent tried, i might be wrong), but KidsPrint didnt seem to mind, back when i ordered mine months ago. :)

Works fine here, no errors..yet, altho i didnt test it all the way to complete checkout, i can add parts just as before, and proceed to the checkout/payment screen..i guess its just a matter of time before it gets shut down too... :)

Here in DK, its also merged into to the new PaB, but the old B&P still seems to work too, if you use the direct url to it. One nice-ish thing i noticed in the new PaB, there is a power functions category now, which includes things like hubs and the PU remote (and the Mindstorms Robot Inventor hub, for a whopping 4917,44 DKR / £547.02.. a bit pricey).. Also noticed that the 73507 "flipflop" beam, seems to have had its price adjusted a little bit, 4.85 DKR for the black one before, up to 5.06 DKR now, while the grey was 5.45 DKR before, its down to 5.06 DKR also..(i think the price adjustments were mentioned somewhere, prior to the merge, but i cant find it now), i think we can expect to see a lot of similar small adjustments in prices..but doubling the prices (or more) for some parts seems a bit much imo. On the not so nice-ish side, its veeeeery slow..and a lot of the images simply doesnt load (gives 404 errors)..and when searching for bricks where some of the variants were sold out in B&P (for example black 32017), it simply doesnt show those combinations..unlike in B&P that shows them, but as sold out/unavailable, would have been nice to see them even if sold out.. The slowness i kinda expected here in the transition-phase i guess, but the 404 is somewhat annoying..and some of the prices must be errors or placeholders..5000DKR for that hub is insane.. :D

I agree, i wrote to them on October 7th because of this, and received the replacements yesterday, 4 yellow and 2 black. One of the black ones is slightly misaligned, and 2 of the yellow are misaligned (one badly so). So sadly, it does indeed appear as the misaligned ones are still in stock, at least in my part of the world (I live in Denmark, but the replacements came from Germany) Looking at my collection of this part (only 6 black, 12 yellow), it seems that it affects the yellow more often than the black, of course this is a small sample, so maybe just coincidence.
