Another 4WD Drift Chassis Project
aFrInaTi0n replied to FriedlS's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLittle update... getting a little bigger than yours & currently no caster angle, but shall get something like this (3rd party batts, servo and motors for rough size estimations and later shredding without hesitations... buwizz are flying around elsewhere and shall go in instead of the 7.4 batts.. 🙃) Replaced beveled gears with knob cogs, as they should be able to transport more power without skipping. Also the motors are driving the main drivedrain and this is evenly distributing the power to front and rear vs your starting from the rear going to the front (not sure if it makes a differenc at all..). Axles are carbon ones (I may need to check more narrow metal joints - use some forbidden liquid reinforcement aka superglue to keep the outer axles in the frontwheel joints.. Need to adjust the steering rack one stud further to not have a too huge angle @steering.. Edit: I removed my pictures as I created a distinct topic for my approach..

Another 4WD Drift Chassis Project
aFrInaTi0n replied to FriedlS's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFriedl we have to talk, you are no good influence to me... 🤭 Never thought of this small scale solution + allowing for also putting metal / regular old joints in... Offset to the wheels is increased by 1 stud, but I think this can be ignored for having metal parts over plastic ones... need to find out if I can adjust for two buggy motors in the small chassis without getting much higher or wider.. so thanks for this huge inspiration already for a super small scale fwd/4wd design! 🥰🥰🥰

[Tool/Web] DEPRECATED - LDraw to Studio Exporter
@grab_a_beer_and_build_lego Thanks for the bug report - as LDraw changed an URL, my tool wasn't pulling in the latest versions on a daily basis! So huge thanks, otherwise I would not directly have recognized this!!! As a reward here is your requested zip package link: https://www.reum.it/ldraw-to-studio-exporter/index.php?part=48156p01.dat Merry Christmas :)

Lego quadruped Arduino? (glowy)
aFrInaTi0n replied to glowytheglowbug's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingChristmas period is generelly considered to be rough, becasue of the western world having the christmas and also chinese new year - so I consider Nov-Feb as a period where it can be expected to take naturally longer..

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think my need is even more simple, as the top plate should basically be rotated at the edge and in the same direction as the other two joints. so basically all three joints hall work in the same direction / dimension. Anyways I need to watch the mechanism some more itmes to get the idea.. thanks already! Edit: Ahh got it now, it was more about the lever transporting the movement to all joints, not about the rotation - Much more helpful after understanding what was meant! Edit: I am always forgetting that different lever offsets are also working for doing translations like gears..

[Tool/Web] DEPRECATED - LDraw to Studio Exporter
@grab_a_beer_and_build_lego You are right, its missing but should not - I will take a look the next days and post back here whenever I know the reasons. Meanwhile you may use the direct download function of the Ldraw lib (but then only as one unified .dat file - bottom left on the page you linked, direct link: https://library.ldraw.org/library/official/parts/48156p01.dat)

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI would like to have some second opinions for an unfolding mechanism for some cubus: Basic idea is to have a cubus of equal length sides (obviously by its name.. ) unfolding itself to have: Two walls / sides being angled at their bottom edges by 90° to have their insights brought into a horizontal position The top being turned around 180° and also being lowered to the ground to form some higher horizontal plateau, also resting in a horizontal position Short quick & dirty drawio sketching to give more imagination: Left side: Top of the cube in the 180° turned and lowered position /// Right side: Top is on the cube, its insides are upside down Should theoretically be a farely simple mechanism as the bottom and top joints just need to be reduced by factor 4 to have all joints (roating gears) being moved with one source of power, right? (besides weight being a thing, but thats on another page..) Would be interest in critical opinions or better ways to solve my issue. Oh yes, the childhood half bushes are freakin awesome when it comes to grip on axles... :D

aFrInaTi0n replied to JoKo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe higher, the bigger the effect - so as Zero pointed out: try to work from the highest objects downwards to lose some weight..

BuWizz - High Performance LEGO Power Functions Controller and Battery
aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@dustblue lol really? Wouldn't have wasted that much of money into such a cumbersome project.. Here we are again - since the 1y-overdueed version released in beginning of the year, N-O-T-H-I-N-G happened to fix the obvious bugs! "blabla the BT stack had to be exchanged" - cool, this is done since a year? Now it is taking you one year to work on a controller integration? (may be overdue also as a feature, but there are more severe bugs to fix first!) Still no updates for the outage issue, no failsafe, NO NOTHING. I am not mad at Zero but at Fortronik d.o.o. for their ongoing and persistent lies! (I may remind of the bold statement of "faulty batteries will be exchanged by us for free" which was just a lie and the best option one may get is a 20-30% coupon to buy a new complete Buwizz 3 unit..... Are they f***ing kidding us?).

[CADA] CADA General Discussion Topic
aFrInaTi0n replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI agree, CaDA is stepping up and doing all the things right with their custom panels, new unique powerplugs, own aquired licences... Seems "this other play-fair company" won't have anything to interfere / stop them in the future for importing their products into markets like europe etc... Also then they will have one real competitor in the shops, which will make their prices obviously overpriced. I am so looking forward to see the danish start sweating because of their bs management which seems to have only ROI in their minds..

42160 wheel hub internals
aFrInaTi0n replied to Aurorasaurus's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingPlastic bushings and bearing have a certain lifetime as the material is very soft and can easily deform on high temps - I would put it under "regular wear". Do yourself a favor and order ballbeared ones from TF Engineering.

BuWizz - High Performance LEGO Power Functions Controller and Battery
aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@dustblue has a valid point... if only the affected driver channel / IC could be shut down instead of the whole board falling over and losing all its connectivity.. As stated already that would heavily increase the user experience. For my superbike mocs the buwizz usb port isn't easily reachable, so for some mocs the current behavior of the buwizz shutting down completely (or even worse going into its protection mode which needs to be resetted by giving usb power for the pcb bcm to recognize the batt power has recovered from its undervoltage...) is a not so nice situation.

RC High Performance Motorized LEGO PEUGEOT 9X8 Hybrid Hypercar brushless motor #42156
aFrInaTi0n replied to zen-es's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI can only give good feedback on @ZENE. As stated before in the thread two units are working fine for me, also with pretty fast shipping (10-12days it was from CN Mainland to Germany), packaging was also really good (cardbox with single-packaged units in the package). I wasn't yet able to give it some deeper testing of the units itself. I will write you a mail when I am ready @ZENE (read your mail, but wasn't able to answer yet). I personally am open to invest in people trying out new concepts which could improve our technical creations in the long run - @Krxlion I can understand being cautious but at least I got delivered what was offered on their site without having any claims - maybe it softens your concerns to some little degree :)

aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOh, look at your inboxes: As I am only having a Google Chromecast freed up BT controller and another third party brand, I guess I won't be able to join the party directly. BuWizz - High Performance LEGO Power Functions Controller and Battery
aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingone month shouldn't be an issue if it wasnt put on shelf completely depleted. I can only recommend to read about proper storage of lipos to be able to have a good power for as long as possible.. (from the drone world the hint is "one will never kill a lipo because of too many usage cycles - degration over time is what will kill it")

BuWizz - High Performance LEGO Power Functions Controller and Battery
aFrInaTi0n replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingSorry if you felt somehow offended. So as you mentioned it was sitting in a shelf for a longer time: LiPo batteries degrade over time (even more when they are stored in too hot environments and/or with too less voltage). How long was the Buwizz not in use? & have you occationally reloaded to to 70-80% capacity?
