Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
It might be GoF, because while it doesn't feature Hogsmeade station, it has a fairly long scene on the train - The trio discuss the Quidditch world cup, the trolley witch comes by and Harry bumps into Cho Chang (see my profile pic haha). But other than that OotP seems likely (even though the scene was super short). I really hope they don't do Philosophers stone because the minifigs would just be boring school robes we've got before, CoS has the car which has been done to death, PoA was portrayed on the D2C, HbP same, Deathy Hallows train scene is fairly unmemorable tbh so I'm hoping for GoF or OotP.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
I just have a question to everyone, Did we ever find out where the leaked Voldemort (tongue sticking out) and Tonks (duck bill) are coming from? Considering the rumour for the D2C is currently a giant Hogwarts Express, is it likely we are getting a Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar? It just seems strange to me, I can't see the Voldemort figure fitting anywhere and I don't think we are expecting anymore sets.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
This may be a controversial opinion BUT, perhaps the set isn't JUST the train and station. The price simply seems absurd for just the train and station, so what if it's like 'Hogwarts surrounding areas' or something like that - where the train is a big feature - but not the entirety. We may get Hogsmeade station, part of forbidden forest, more thestral carriages, black lake maybe. Last year for icons it was rumoured to be 'just hedwig' early on - where Hedwig was a big feature - but not the entirety. Also for a harry potter minifig scale d2c, people will be expecting tons of figures and for a simply Kings Cross, we'll be getting random city-esque minifig mash-ups which won't be very desirable for most fans.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
After the reveal of the new sets, I found it interesting how as the films progress, we have less and less sets from each. In the 2018- reboot (excluding accessory packs, polybags, BrickHeadz and GWP), we have had: Philosopher's/ Sorcerer's Stone: 12 Sets Chamber of Secrets: 10 Sets Prisoner of Azkaban: 9 Sets Goblet of Fire: 7 Sets Order of the Phoenix: 4 Sets Half-Blood Prince: 2 Sets Deathly Hallows (1&2): 1 Set General (I couldn't put into any one film): 2 sets (microscale castle and Buildable Harry and Hermione). Obviously we haven't seen this years advent calendar or the D2C so my list will obviously change soon, but here are the scores so far. NOTE: I put Diagon Alley in CoS because though it has elements of HBP, it's mainly based on CoS.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
She's certainly a cool/unique figure, but I think it's just a shame we are getting her (after getting Sinistra last year) when we haven't got many prominent characters in the reboot like Rita Skeeter, Barty Crouch, Igor Karkaroff etc... Like, I'm a die hard HP movie fan and had never heard of/ seen Madame Pince before and I've seen each film at least 10 times lmao. It's a cool figure but a shame because she's really a glorified extra who has gotten a figure, while big roles like Rita etc haven't.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Personally, I think the "sets" this year are the best we've ever had for Harry Potter, though that cannot be said for the minifigures (and prices)! 1) Luna Thestral Carriage is a good $20 set - good minifigs and solid build (well, apart from the tree haha) and a really cool thestral and baby. 2) Sirius Black Courtyard is one of the worst sets we've ever got from Harry Potter in the reboot (imo), 345 pieces for $50! The minifigs are also completely undesirable for most (considering that exact Harry and Hermione come in 3 sets this year and the Sirius has just been downgraded) and there's only 3 - compared with the similarly priced Hospital Wing from March Wave which contained the highly desirable Pomfrey. The build is OK but nothing too special imo, and the buckbeak (which is obviously hiking up the price) was in the 2019 Hagrid's Hut. I feel like with this huge price and limited desirability, this one wont sell well and will go on sale quite quickly. 3) Horntail is really good imo, huge upgrade to the 2019 one and hopefully can be detached from stand to use in MOCs. Love the new triwizard Harry too. 4) Dumbledore's office, I have mixed feelings about. Looks magnificent from the outside, and quite good from the inside - I like the library though I feel like the 'office' part is too small and the top layers seem like wasted space. Minifigs are alright - wish Norris was a new piece, and why is there another random witch in this one?! 5) Ministry of Magic is great, though I wish it was bigger! The facade is very clever and I love the Dolores office. Minifigs are a tiny bit lacking - hardly any leg printing and the alternate Harry and Hermione faces are so strange. Also, hooray for a DH set. 6) 12 Grimmauld Place - Best set of the wave IMO - it literally opens - enough said.

Hmm I doubt they'd do Sinistra again. I'll be honest, she was a cool minifigure but it would honestly be a crime if we got two minifigures of a character who had zero lines in the franchise and appeared in the background for less than 10 seconds when we have no figures of large characters like Rita Skeeter. Also considering we can only see her in one shot in SS/PS, you can't give her a second outfit with it being completely inaccurate and they could re-use - BUT WHY haha. They would probably do another variant of Umbridge or maybe even a new Filch or Hagrid. But honestly, a teachers accessory pack is weird imo because we already have all of the (line-speaking at least) professors already!

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
IK this was a while ago haha but if you subscribe to many potter youtubers (like I do haha) - ones who don't collect LEGO usually - they all have that microscale Hogwarts (it's in the back of all their vids) and also many of my Non-LEGO fan potterhead friends (shocking I know) have it so that's why I imagine it's popular with non-LEGO fans. Again, sorry for late response hehe. I'm totally not saying Quidditch isn't iconic (it is especially in the first two) but it's not iconic enough (in my opinion). Yes, the word is v iconic because JKR created an entirely new sport and the name is so funny it sticks in people's minds. But I think we can all agree the quidditch pitch isn't as iconic as Hogwarts/ Gringotts and hey - LEGO may make the most expensive set an oddball - it's just likely they'll play it safer for something this expensive. The Wizarding World is so vast and exciting - I just think it would be a bit of a waste to have Harry Potter's flagship set be a bunch of repetitive (though impressive - still repetitive) towers and a patch of dirt when Hogwarts is so varied in it's interior and considering we haven't got a Gringotts yet in the re-boot. Also, minifig-wise this would be a bit of a waste too as it would probably be the same/similar torso 20 times (would be easier to do a quidditch accessory pack).

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Regarding the D2C, I personally don't think it will be a Quidditch pitch. It simply isn't iconic enough and not to mention it's really niche and wouldn't fit with anything minifig scale we've gotten yet. Let's look at the previous D2Cs we've gotten before: 1) Hogwarts (micro-scale): Extremely iconic (it's Hogwarts' famous silhouette). Was bought by many non-LEGO HP fans. 2) Diagon Alley (minifig-scale): Iconic (albeit not as iconic as Hogwarts) but it's Harry's first introduction to the Wizarding World and they provided many different and quirky builds which would please any LEGO fan. 3) Icons (brickbuilt creature): I'll be honest, this set was a shock, but you can see the reasoning behind it. Hedwig is arguably the face of Harry Potter (other than Harry but it's hard to make a Harry worth $200+). It's a well built display piece and was part of HPs 20th anniversary special. I think it's safe to say many found it strange but it was "cheap" enough for hesitant fans to give it a go (the golden figs being a game changer). Now, 2022s D2C is supposedly $470 - double the price of Hogwarts Icons and more than both other D2Cs. This mean it HAS to be iconic and HAS to be extremely desirable to persuade fans to pay the enormous price tag. If I'm honest, I feel like it has to be Gringotts OR something Hogwarts related. However, LEGO has shocked us before and may well shock us again.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
I've got a feeling that Dumbledore's office will be based on OOTP - seeing the inclusion of Cho Chang (when she gets dragged there after DA gets found out and Dumbledore and Fakwes teleport away). However, if that's the case, it would make more sense to have Kingsley and Umbridge rather than Snape or Filch. So maybe it is GOF with there being some sort of balcony to double up as the scene where Harry asks Cho to the ball? Long shot though, we need an owlery!!

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Honestly I'm happy with these sets!! Would have liked some more GoF (Merpeople and Durmstrang ship) but I'm happy with what's proposed. Also lmao ANOTHER Cho Chang though! And no Rita :(

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Lucius might be Yaxley, Arthur may be the guy Ron turns into and the mystery character might be Mrs Cattermole.

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Personally, I think the MoM set IS deathly hallows based. Umbridge only appears in the ministry in DH1, the mystery minifigure is probably Yaxley (the dude with the white hair who chases them) and the dementors = DH. I feel like it will have elements of OOTP (Lucius and Arthur) but it sounds mostly DH based - I hope the golden trio have reverse heads of the ministry employees!

Phew! That's good. I just remembered an interview with a designer who said it didn't fit with their values or something...
