  1. Thank you very much - surprisingly reaching 10k is really hard still - but I think this is more the case for trains then some other categories. My first attempt fell just short of halfway - but I am hopeful of gaining that milestone alot earlier - if not, this project wont hit the milestone. I've contacted the National Railway Museum to see if they want to help out with social media (given its the Mallard's 90th birthday next year). Thank you! Guess I let the best of my anxiety get the better of me. Thank you! I tried to replicate the coach colour from a Hornby coronation coach - its Dark azure and light aqua, with flat silver in the stripe. I'm working on trying to build them - the available pieces in aqua is quote limiting. Thank you! Much appreciate the feedback! I agree entirely - Icons is a great overarching theme - but they could still bunch sets as sub-themes within. I've bought the OE and also haven't built it. If I am entirely honest, i'm enjoying building my own things more these days. Thanks for your support! Thank you very much - very kind! Thank you so much - will see how the voting goes. I fear that some don't wish to go near Lego Ideas these days unfortunately. I'd love for this to be available next year as part of the 90th birthday celebrations.
  2. Thanks very much - means alot to know i am getting close to the mark. Appreciate your support. Was beginning to think i'd offended the Eurobricks community given the views and lack of responses!
  3. Hi all, for those who have followed my A4 Mallard project previously on Lego Ideas (and posted here), unfortunately it fell just short of the 5k mark and expired. I’ve resubmitted the idea as a full consist ‘Recordbreaker’ train including an A4 Mallard, Dynamometer Car, and 2 Coronation carriages based on its 1938 run. It’s a big model (each part is approx. 50cm long) and due to the 3000 piece count limit I am still working on putting interiors in. Thanks to those who’ve provided feedback and helped improve the model along the way. I am aware that the Lego train wheels are a bit small for this size model so based on previous advice I’ve shortened the engine to force perspective a bit. (I have big ben wheels now to modify the model I'm building to better represent the size). The train has been motorised with an XL motor in the engine and battery in tender. It runs well, but ironically won’t set any speed records. Looking at other options – maybe motorising a carriage as well. I’ve built a prototype of the Dynamometer car now as well. The Coronation coaches are next. Unfortunately, I am having to make a lot of substitutions as some of the parts my digital model used are not available from Lego, are no longer in production or have never been produced. I understand the whole Orient Express stage has fractured the train community’s willingness to support anything there so if that’s your position I understand and no need to remind me! I hope that a train, based on a very specific historical event, would have a better chance of remaining consistent with the fan design. For those who would rather see this as a Bricklink Designer Program submission, the limitations in that pallet mean I’d have to redesign substantially so currently not an option. I’d love your support for the train on Lego ideas. Thanks to those who have previously supported. Lego Ideas A4 Mallard Recordbreaker

  5. Heh - when I can finally figure out stickers (or pinstriping) absolutely will look into this. Thanks!
  6. For those interested - this is what the locomotives look like built. (figured I should post to this thread rather than starting a new one). My 4yr old son called dibs on the red one.
  7. Thank you! Only 3600 to the next milestone. Much appreciate your support.
  8. Thank you @Toxic43 appreciate the feedback - I think I can improve it a bit more still. I agree that train projects don't have much luck on ideas (either getting 10k or surviving the review. I definitely need community support to get this to at least 10k. Have to say though - over 600+ views on this post and i've got maybe 20-30 votes on Ideas in that time so not sure if my model meets the community's expectations or enough care about Ideas. Not sure what to make of it! @ThePhatControllerthank you very much! @LEGOTrainBuilderSGThank you - I agree entirely - in my mind Lego would produce a few iconic locomotives in similar vein the the Crocodile. Worthy of display pieces and layout - and good stats for modification. Very much appreciate your support!
  9. Thank you all - and thanks for the welcome. @JopieK Thank you! Did you have a website previously selling stickers? If so I may have already bought some from you. I think the main thing I am interested in achieving is making custom parts in Studio with the stickers on them first so I can at least show the model as a render. I've built the model so would definitely like to add stickers to it to give it a finished look. @Vilhelm22 agree on the engine being specifically Mallard as most popular - its the iconic representation of the class. I am working on a Kingfisher variant and a silver/grey variant. Have build 3 different colours so far - now just tweaking adding of power functions. Thanks for the advice on stickers/rods. I will definitely look into these for my personal version. Its a shame Lego doesn't consider better parts like this (but I understand all the previous discussions on why). Appreciate the info on all the different versions - I went down a bit of a rabbit hole researching and trying to find reference diagrams to develop the model. Will see how many of these I end up building! @Feuer Zug @garmsey @Bludchylde @Sunil766 @lego9vtrainfan thank you very much for your support! Its a slow process to build steam for votes (pun intended).
  10. Hello all, I am new to these boards (long time reader but only joined recently). I wanted to share a MOC i've been working on - an A4 Mallard. I've seen a few of these pop up recently so apologies if its getting crowded with this type of train. I've stuck strictly to Lego parts, so no aftermarket wheels/rods etc, to comply with Lego Ideas entry rules. I've built three different liveries so far (two trying to match known surviving examples and one I just like the colour - dark red). I've also included a Sir Nigel Gresley statue (and Mallard duck) as part of the model. One thing I am keen to do is figure out stickers for the LNER / Mallard plate / No 4484 or 4486 etc - still struggling to do this with my limited illustrator skills - if anyone has any pointers please let me know! I am also working on a few minor tweaks here and there. Very much appreciate your feedback and if you like it you can support here: A4 Mallard Lego Ideas
