PF Backhoe V2 with building instructions
technixcc replied to Jurgen Krooshoop's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingstill a very impressive model with 9 functions from 8 channels. Another thing I am wondering is if the drive train can handle the model going over a small obstacle. The gears will grind if not well braced. It would be nice if you can post pictures showing range of motion. I am sort of sitting on the fence about getting the insructions. That will really give me an idea what the model is capable of doing.

PF Backhoe V2 with building instructions
technixcc replied to Jurgen Krooshoop's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNice looking model! Can you post some video/images that show range of motion for the backhoe arm and the loader? How low can the backhoe arm go? Is it a struggle to lift the backhoe arm with the M motor and a single LA at the lowest position? Also, are you relying on the internal clutch of the LA at end points? Real machines can push itself very high in the air with loading and backhoe arms at the downward extreme position. I suspect you won't be able to do it here due to the weight of the model. With LA's it's usually a compromise between break out force and range of motion. I like your orange excavator because it's one of the few that has good range of motion.

Side loader garbage truck
technixcc replied to GuiliuG's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI really like the design of the side loading arm - excellent power and range of motion and very compact. Is the linkage based on mechanisms in the real truck? Can you post more pictures of the arm? It is somewhat obscured in your brickshelf pictures. Thanks.

new lego pneumatic tubing stiffer than before?
I noticed that the pneumatic tubing from recent lego sets (8049, 8110) are much stiffer than before. The are harder to connect to and feel more "plasticky". Did anyone find any adantage with the new tubing? I much prefer the softer, more rubbery tubing from 8455. Can anyone recommend a good place (bricklink store?) that still carries the older tubing?

Unimog Pneumaics Problem?
technixcc replied to Asher's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have exactly the same problem. I purchased two sets and one pump was consistently smooth sounding in one direction, with little power, and rough sounding in the other direction, with power. I replaced it with the pump from my second set and everything works fine. You just need to call lego customer service to replace it. I still managed to made use of the faulty pump in my MOC though. I used the weak stroke for dumping the bucket in my PF wheel loader with autovalve, where not a lot of power is required.

Did Lego Give away a ton of 8110 Unimogs or Something?
technixcc replied to Paul Boratko's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelinghi, I bought four sets this way a month ago. I called lego yesterday and sure enough, my home address has been red flagged. I had to send them my ebay transaction records to get reinstated. In all my cases, the packagings show they come directly from lego. The packing slips show regular lego purchases at full retail price with shipping and tax included. The billing infor is different for each set even though I ordered three of these from the same ebay seller. I reported these to ebay and paypal but it is probably already too late to stop the money flow. I have to admit it is a clever scheme - by the time any of the involved realizes it, they will be gone with the money. I believe the same scheme is still being run on ebay - look at all the impossibly low 8110 prices. Some signs that the ebay listing may be illegit: a) it requires immediate payment. b)you are not allowed to buy more than two. c)it is a brand new set that has not been on sale anywhere. If you are not sure but still want to go for the low prices, you can file for ebay buyer protection shortly after the transaction. Ebay or paypal will hold off the payment until you receive the item (so that you can verify it is legit).
