  1. I said a month ago: "At a price of $10.99 I'm not too excited.", so I'm not surprised. In today's economy, we shouldn't have expected $10.99 would produce much and it didn't.
  2. My bad - I saw COBI but my brain processed it as Corgi, a maker of scale model cars and other toys.
  3. It is an amazing compilation of LEGO Technics! Thanks for both producing it as well as posting! We owe you a debt of gratitude!
  4. Smart phones are everywhere. There are many who own a smart phone and that is the only "computer" they own. LEGO undoubtedly took this into consideration when they developed Control+ and PU. Then there is the fact that not having to include a separate controller lowered the cost of the product and in many cases appealed to buyers. After all, look at all the products offered today that are controlled via our phones. Will LEGO reverse course and re-introduce controllers? Probably not.
  5. Well, they do and they don't. So long as the deals don't cross into other's businesses, it's OK if the agreement isn't exclusive. In other words an agreement between Mercedes and Cobi along with one between Mercedes and LEGO wouldn't be problematic as Cobi and LEGO, though both "toys", are much different and don't compete against each other. On the other hand agreements with both LEGO and CADA could be an issue. While Mercedes wouldn't care, LEGO and CADA certainly should and might reject such an arrangement unless Mercedes gave exclusive rights to one model to LEGO and different one to CADA. In that case, Mercedes would have exclusive license agreements with both companies. In many respects, outside of collecting royalties, companies have little incentive to give exclusive rights, but royalties can be a big incentive to induce an exclusive contract.
  6. If none of them work, I suspect a problem with the program. Try deleting/reloading. Also make sure your phone is connecting.
  7. I'll tell the SWAT team they can stand down.
  8. Some folks have had success with removing and reinstalling the app.
  9. Is someone holding a gun to your head, forcing you to buy it? If so, tell us and we'll call the police for you.
  10. In order to sooth the fears of some, I 'borrowed' the needed parts (aka cannibalized) to extend and move the support to the end of the boom. To the critics credit, they were right...
  11. 1mm cord is available on Amazon. You can see a spool of it in the background of my pictures. I will eventually move the boom support up when I add longer cabling but waiting for parts.
  12. Ballast looks worse than it is. Partly because of camera distortion and partly because of the thick carpet which supports the crane but not the small points of contact for the ballast. Here's a picture of the crane on a hard surface:
  13. I guess this could be called stock and super modified:
  14. OK, other than changing out the cables, I think I'm done.... Total of 8 sections added, 6 to the boom and one to the jib, one to the gantry, plus numerous extensions to the bracing.
  15. Not really. The legs are part of the formation of the bottom frame in that they hold the four sides together. I suppose you could cut them off to make them shorter. Also the shelves are somewhat adjustable but not infinitely in that the brackets are also used to hold the glass panels in place, go there are only a few adjustments you could do, or perhaps leave a shelf out if needed.
  16. IKEA MILSBO 28 3/4x68 7/8 (inches), Anthracite (also available in white), Article no: 303.964.48 $219.99 (US)
  17. Want to tell us what it was??????
  18. If re-running the calibration step doesn't work, try manually resetting the turntable to the proper position by disassembling, then run the setup calibration again.
  19. LOL - tough crowd! Yes, it would be great if the boom extended but you did a great job creating this regardless of whether the boom extends or not.
  20. Yes. Back in the late 60's and 70's. IIRC, I had to cut 14 3/4" out of the VW floor pan, then weld it back together. Didn't have TIG/MIG welders back then so I used acetylene and gas welded them as they were too thin for my AC buzz box. Then all the linkages also had to be shortened.
