I think the tan is the main offender, hopefully removing some of those pieces would help with that. Dark pearl grey would look perfect though you're right! Honestly the more I look at the tower the more I'm disappointed. After Rivendell elegance I feel like could have done something better. Did they have the same set designers involved? I'm not super worried by the height but the towers detailing and greebling just looks a bit clunky and not like the reference material it sticks out too much making it just looks a little messy from a distance, especially that rock work. The rock work and landscaping looked incredible on Rivendell meanwhile, I'm just not sure why those techniques didn't carry over Still cool to be getting a new lord of the rings set. Maybe anything would have been disappointing after Rivendell, that set is incredible

I get what you're saying and that's a good way to look at it, although I'm less hopeful about a full wave, so I'd rather just get as many figs as possible as there's no guarantee of future sets. The wave of sets in 2012 definitely excluded plenty of important characters so I just hope it stays around long enough to fill in some of those gaps. Super excited about finally getting a Sauron figure! Sounds like a pretty good lineup

(Probably Unpopular opinion) Assuming they still continued with other sets, I'd like to see more brick heads. The first batch they made for lotr still sit on my shelf and I quite enjoy them even though I don't have any other brick heads. Would be fun to have the whole fellowship in that style. Admittedly the Gollum one is a bit of a disgrace though haha. Ideally this is on top of Minifigure sets but certainly wouldn't be unhappy if they made more.

Assuming that if next year we get barad-dûr, and they continue the trend of one large d2c set once a year, what set do you guys think is the most likely set to get after that? I would personally hope for bag end Hobbiton. I know they mentioned in one of the interviews that they had strongly considered that but had decided against it because they thought the original set from the hobbit line did it so well. But I still feel like a scaled up more detailed version that could include a much more impressive tree on top and part of Bilbo's party would be amazing. Not to mention the original set is 10 years old at this point, and they could do so much more with it with LEGOs current building techniques and parts.

I agree with this, I don't want to see the dwarves with really inferior designs and reuse, which is what they would likely do if they did make this. Although having detailed shire would be pretty sweet, I'd much rather they tied it to the lord of the rings and did a large display for Bilbo's party with all the tents and party decorations setup, if they were to do it.

While my preference would always be for the original trilogy I honestly think rings of power would make for some great Lego sets. Regardless of whether it was a good show or not, I still think there's some sweet locations and cool figures that could come out of it. Plus it would always be nice to have more dwarf and elf minifig pieces to use in other things
