  1. How sturdy are the following types of hinges: clip & bar, Technic (friction) pins, click hinges, ball & socket? For context, I'm designing a MOC/MOD based on NKubate's 10248 Ferrari F40 length mod. The way I've built so far leaves the front and rear sections unable to be hinged in a simple way like the original model. Hence, my solution uses double linkages, to make a "virtual" hinge point. Included below are images of the linkages in both closed and opened positions. Red (clips), blue (click/locking + pin), and yellow (ball socket + pin) are for the rear section. Green (pins) and orange (clips) are for the front section. Red, blue, and yellow: [blue's locking hinges are in click, 22.5° & 90°] Green and orange: All of the above come in pairs. The click hinges are likely too stiff to use, though. Both front and rear sections are opened through a sort of dance, lifting and tilting at the same time. Also, the rear section has a stick to help prop it up, similar to the original model, which hopefully can add stability. Thinking about it a bit more, I probably could make some space in the rear section to have the hinge be 3-wide and allow some form of Technic beams and pins to fit. While all of this is virtual/digital, and I don't intend to physically build it anytime soon, it would still be nice to know if my design is a sound build. Thoughts appreciated.

  3. Hello, new member here. I'm a mostly digital builder, as Lego is expensive in my country. With that said, I suppose most of my postings here will be about asking for advice whether digital builds would hold in real life. I used to build with LDD back in like 2013. Sadly, whatever MOCs I made then are very likely lost as my previous laptop is basically dead. Not really bothered by it though, as I'm pretty sure they were almost all simple plate and brick stacking, with very little SNOT or other fancy angled techniques. Also had a Flickr and posted some stuff there, but I cannot for the life of me recall my username. Or maybe it got deleted since there was this fiasco about Flickr not being unlimited anymore. My main interest with Lego would be building cars, at Creator Expert / Icons / 16-wide scale. Now, I use Studio to design. It's amazing what a decade of development brings, both in terms of having new pieces and how smoothly programs work. Anyways, hi. Good to be here.
