Built for SHIPtember, an annual event where you are challenged to build a 100+ stud spaceship in the month of September. I haven’t done a SHIP in this horizontal panel style yet, and after a couple quick sketches was very intrigued by trying that with an asymmetric twist. And this year I managed to even complete the underside. Thanks to Graham for the main image edit. Build time: 27 days Length: 104 studs Weight: 5.5 pounds (2.5 kilograms) Quite a few more images on Brickbuilt, and the images embedded here link to Flickr where you can see them in full resolution.
  2. @Ben S Those challenges have never been closed, so feel free to participate in them. As you say, they've been dormant for a long time but there's no problem doing them now. Freebuild registration isn't necessary anymore as we have not been scoring freebuilds for the last few years. Simply post them in the forum as their own topic, and you may also post a link here if you like so it's easy for other Mitgardians to see what has been built for the guild recently.
  3. Summer means it's castle building time! The Summer Joust is an annual medieval themed building contest with 7 unique categories, and more than 20 prizes. Open from June 1st - August 1st, there's plenty of time to join the fun. See all the details in the flickr group.
  4. Welcome to Mitgardia! Glad to have Elric guarding our northern border.

Thanks Slegengr! Appreciate your detailed thoughts. You're right about the wheels, I considered swapping to the orientation you suggested at one point, but ultimately left them as you see now. I think because it made them look more circular - though that might also have been before I added the third stud of width with alternating direction. There is indeed a working 'hydraulic' cylinder, not really stable enough for play but the rod does slide in and out of a friction pin to allow the arm to swing in or out. Thank you, I was pleasantly surprised to find an easy way to integrate it in this orientation. Thanks! The drill arm was one of the last things built, and needed some time and referencing real life excavators Thanks, I wanted to try some brick built wheels for a change and was happy with how these turned out. Glad to hear you like the opening cockpit! I was thinking about how would someone be able to get in, and this sort of opening hatch came to mind from spaceships. And after thinking of it, it seemed too fun not to include Many thanks!

An Ice Planet truck for Febrovery. The general chassis and shape came to mind quickly after I got the wheels together, but completing all the details took longer than expected. Has a few functional bits as the drill arm is articulated and the cabin opens in such a way that the driver could actually board the vehicle. More images available on Brickbuilt.
  10. Thanks for pointing that out so quickly. I had been looking in the sub-forum as well, but somehow missed a whole bunch. Aurore kindly sent me a list which I edited in now, and will double check again tomorrow to see if any are still left out.

  13. My contribution for Challenge 11. It’s a simple build that brought back a lot of memories as most of the techniques are things I used frequently years ago. Which made for a straightforward and relaxing build process. Timber is in high demand as the guilds rebuild. Leading to many new lumber yards popping up in Mitgardia. Located along trade routes and near sawmills they constantly receive new loads of wood and in turn load caravans traveling between the guilds. Additional photos on Brickbuilt.
  14. New deadline is end of day February 1st 2024! Countdown timer here. Make the most of the extra time and get to building

@LittleJohn and I built this peaceful Avalonian scene of a small chapel on the edge of a lake. It's an entry for the Religious Building of the Colossal Castle Contest. Evenings make a splendid time for Brother Alberic to enjoy some peaceful contemplation while fishing. The still waters and quiet forest never fail to lift his spirits.
  16. @LittleJohn and I collaborated on this build for the “Place of Business” category in the Wandering Skies contest. It was a challenging model due to the numerous additions off all sides meaning you couldn't simply build from the bottom up. Was a nice change of pace trying a large steampunk model though! It's complete on all sides, and through some of the doorways you can catch glimpses of interiors, though we didn't have time to fully complete all of them. R.G. Buckle’s mining outpost travels far and wide in search of valuable ores and metals on the many floating islands of Wandering Skies. The rugged and functional mobile outpost contains storage silos, a massive smelting furnace, and docks for their scouting and mining airships. Once they have collected a large supply of metals, the crew navigates back to civilization to sell their goods. Additional images on Brickbuilt.
  17. @stria Welcome to the guilds! Excellent intro for Aletta, with a very pretty vignette
  18. Welcome! Glad to have you join us in the north and can't wait to see what lies in store for Thaum and his companions
  19. Welcome to the North! There was a challenge based around the Algus some years ago, and you can find lots of inspiration for the minifigures by looking through the entries to that. Here is that Frozen Beyond challenge topic, and all the entries are linked to in that discussion.
  20. Welcome to the Guilds! Glad to have you join us and I'm excited to see Ethelfieda's adventures
  21. I had the good fortune of meeting a bunch of fellow guild members at Skaerbaek this year, and discussion there got the wheels spinning for a new GoH challenge. And then the generosity and input of other GoH organizers led to the prompt and prizes you see here Yes, am anticipating plenty of great GoH models in the next few months! Glad to hear you're excited! Yeah, the minifigure series challenges are always fun too And thank you for your nudging to get something going again Great timing! Can't wait to see what you come up with Absolutely!

My brother @LittleJohn and I built this spaceship for SHIPtember in just over a week. Inspired by this concept art, though we used that mainly as a starting point and then went with whatever worked as we progressed. Really happy with how it turned out! Length: 106 studs. Weight: Not yet determined.
