  1. This is great. So many nice details. I really like the gun.
  2. Thanks for all the nice comments. An instructions photo montage is now available in my Flickr gallery.
  3. The ability for the Droideka to use it's characteristic rolled up position is sadly under appreciated by LEGO. For me that's one of the key features and just as important as an intimidating attack pose. For some reason the developers of the official versions got way too hung up on recreating the three feet and the round shape at the bottom, leaving out almost any other aspect of accuracy all together. Now I've returned to an old mission of mine. Trying to create the minifig scale Droideka I've always dreamt of. Please let me know what you think of the result. More pics and a part list photo at my flickr.
  4. With these two pics explaining the wings you should be able to start building. Good luck! It would be great to hear about your experience if You actually build one. Please let me know if you think that I need to clarify things with notes on my Flickr page.
  5. Thanks again. I've made three more pics with instructions.
  6. Here's a pic showing the Snowspeeder disassembled. I'm going to make separate pics for the wings, the body and the rear grill thingy. Coming soon.
  7. Thanks for all the nice comments. I don't know the piece count. The core construction is very stable with some weaker parts attached to it. That makes it "swoschable" enough, but you might have to make some adjustments afterwards. No super unconventional stuff. A couple of "stud in technic hole" connections though. Yes, there is a seat for the gunner as well. By using those three studded corner plates with two of the studs sticking out from a stack of 1x1 plates. Every pair of 2x2 tiles have one corner plate. The plate stack has some vertical clips that connects to handle bars at the back of the airspeeder. The "Grill" is made up of two pieces, stud facing inwards. Confusing enough? I'll try to show some pictures.
  8. To have a better chans of fixing some of the things I didn't like with my latest version I decided to start over, allthough keeping much of the look and feel of the previous model. The canopy and the front plates are the only areas untouched. More pics at my Flickr page It's pretty much a complete rebuild made to look like the old one, but with an improved core construction allowing for the improvements that I wanted to make. Here's the short list: -Only tiles in the back grill. -Better markings at the bottom and an entirely new look to the underside of the vessel. -Brick built flaps on the wings. ( to have a non sticker solution.) -Improved front canon connections. -New smaller rear gun. (with the new shorter lightsaber blade piece.) -All new interior. Check out the pictures and let me know what you think.
  9. Once again I have experimented with human like brick built figs in a scale that goes well with minifig headgear. This project started with the idea to make a figure to go with some slightly larger than minifig scale Halo vehicles. I guess we can call these figs "Halo-esque". This is not an exact depiction of any specific armor or weapons from Halo. It's more of an exercise in human anatomy fig making. The method I used for the legs with those knee joint gives the fig the ability to pose in different fixed leg positions. More pics in a Flickr set! Have a look and let me know what you think.
  10. Some good ideas incorporated here. I would like to see it as a real CubeDude though. In my mind the diagonal placement of the head is the single most important aspect when making CubeDudes. I would advise those taking part in that contest to really study the CubeDudes from MacLane and others. They are really fun to make, but the success of the format is based on the limitations and the basic idea MacLane developed when making his first hundred CubeDudes.
  11. Thanks for the comments and compliments guys. Much appreciated. Tatooine sunset by Larry Lars, on Flickr As of now, I'm still in the contest over at FBTB. There has been some surprising turns with several favorites falling off. I could use the support in case you think that I'm one of the good ones left. Thanks a lot.
  12. The Twin Sunset by Larry Lars, on Flickr Toshiro by Larry Lars, on Flickr Underside by Larry Lars, on Flickr My entry in the "FBTB MOC Madness 2010" contest is a ship with a heavy retro feel to it. I saw this as an opportunity to try out some ideas I have had for a while on how to build WWII era style markings and color scheme. I've used a lot of building methods that are new to me this time. I ended up with some odd angles and the different color patterns dictated an "all studs outwards" technique. Any thought? All comments most welcome.
  13. Thanks for your comments. My Snowspeeder is now slightly updated. As any Snowspeeder MOC:er I've been waiting for more colors of the windshield piece I've used this time. Blue was never an option and I would prefer a clear one of course. Since this windshield piece is one extra plate high and only have two studs the canopy had be reworked somewhat. Any comments welcome as usual. Here's the older version for comparison: I liked my previous version quite a bit. But since some of my design ideas have been popping up elsewhere with the new more accurate windshield, I thought I too should have a go at a new canopy. Any comments on the result?
  14. Thanks again. I'm starting to get to the end of my list of Star Wars characters that would be interesting to make as CubeDudes. We'll see if this is the end of it. Here's an Ewok. The color of his hood might suggest that it isn't Wicket I guess.
  15. Thanks for all the comments. ..and now Admiral Ackbar. He was a tricky build actually. It's hard to get the right CubeDude look when the character even in it's orginal form is supposed to have the eyes on the sides.
