How to connect two worm gears so it works like a gear rack?
Captain Coconut replied to SNIPE's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think I understand the intent, but if you're using one worm gear as a rack and the other as a conventional worm gear that moves along the rack, the travel is still limited by the length of the "rack." A worm gear sliding on an axle due to it being forced along it (as used in the autovalve in The Unofficial Technic Builder's Guide) is fundamentally different from causing the axle to slide on a constrained worm gear.

Best modular to buy
The red-brick front on the Fire Brigade is awesome, it provides a great historic-style building to the set. If I was only buying one, and knew they would all be discontinued tomorrow, I'd get either the Fire Brigade or the Town Hall, with the Grand Emporium as a third choice if those weren't available. If you eventually want to buy a few more, I think you'd most regret missing out on the Fire Brigade. The idea of a fire station didn't really appeal to me much either at first, but it's probably got more character than the others, due to the red-brick front. The town hall seems like the obvious king of what's available, but the price counter-balances that. It all depends on your budget.

REVIEW: 9499 – Gungan Sub
Great review! I'm not a fan of the prequels, but this is interesting enough that I may end up getting it. That Amidala fig is pretty sweet, too.

Future Star Wars Minifigs
I agree we're due for a new Yoda, and a Dagobah set would be perfect.

[MOC] Snowspeeder
That's a great snowspeeder, and doubly great considering it was an alternate build from a single set. Very impressive.

Bit (all over again) by the LEGO bug
Hi everyone! I'm 30 years old and haven't really been interested in LEGO since I was probably about 10 years old. Well, my kids like Harry Potter, I got them the LEGO Harry Potter video game, and I tried it out myself. Pretty fun. I saw the Harry Potter LEGO sets that were available and decided it would be fun to build Hogwarts Castle with them. It was really fun, so then I got The Burrow. I got hooked. I started looking at what else was out there and saw the new town stuff. When I was a kid, I was interested primarily in the Classic Space theme, then later by the Castle and Pirate themes, and didn't have much interest in the town stuff, but now that's the theme that seems the most interesting to me. Too bad this stuff's so expensive, but on the other hand, now I can afford the big sets that I could only dream about as a kid. I'm more into LEGO than my kids now! I think a lot of kids these days get spoiled with video games, and don't have much interest in classic toys like LEGO and stuff. Anyhow, that's my story, and I'm very excited to have found such a great community!
