  1. But that gives me an idea of putting them on tiles instead of directly onto the wall.
  2. I have a problem. My first reaction was a desire to go to bricklink and order tiles for the floors. I've resisted so far.
  3. Other companies already make minecraft figures that are true to the original and LEGO may want their version to be different. Since LEGO minifigures are so appealing, it makes sense to not stray too far from that. And keeping the figures minifigure-compatible is something I expect kids to want since when I was a kid, I cared more about expanding my collection with new bricks than to treat each set as an isolated model.
  4. I don't understand what you're trying to say with A, B, C, and D. Do the letters represent the four ghostbuster characters? If the new sets are anything like the ninja turtle sets, then most likely I would only be interested in the characters as the buildings and vehicles would be play-oriented and unrealistic. Imagine if LEGO made a GBHQ-quality set for every new theme, similar to the Haunted House for Monster Fighters. The kids can play with the smaller play-feature sets while the adults can have at the detailed mega set. They may have started already: Death Star Temple of Airjitzu A really well done D2C set can get people to buy it even if they don't normally care about a particular theme. The Temple of Airjitzu could be made to be part of a modular town. I'm not into DC/Marvel, but they made a nice Wayne Manor/Bat Cave, I could be tempted.
  5. I may need to rewatch the movies, but no other scenes from the movies comes out as a obvious possibility for a set idea (think play features!). Hotel (first job): too boring / no play features Library: too boring / no play features Dana's apartment: too boring / no play features Statue of Liberty: too big Museum: too big / not much action Sewers: boring *Maybe* the apartment rooftop scene with Gozer and the terror dogs? A full Staypuff figure seems unlikely, but they could just show his head and a hand. If anything, it'll only be vignettes and not a full structure as is the GBHQ. It could end up like the Simpsons... only major and adult-oriented sets. Perhaps more ideas will come out with the new movie.
  6. My concern regarding allowing early purchases is that a scalper could buy up all the stock and disappoint buyers that come on the actual release date. It's probably not likely for most Dimensions products since the stock for these seem high. On a similar note, I did find at a lego store the two christmas seasonal sets being sold before november. You can probably guess what I did:
  7. This looks great. I like the french fries. All the chairs are so close to the ground that it makes me think of furniture in Japan. Have you thought of adding a railing to the mezzanine (the floor with the tan couch and blue rug)? Doesn't look too safe.
  8. If an item is set to be released on a particular day, at what time would the item actually be available for purchase? I'm in the US Eastern timezone and from past experience, checking at midnight is still too soon. I wonder what timezone does shop.lego.com operate on.
  9. Lets put this into perspective. The people that only watched the movies, which was 26 years ago, are probably at least 31 years old now. The people that watched the cartoons, with the last one 18 years ago, are probably at least 23 years old now. So not exactly the demographic that necessarily need to ask for presents anymore. I know it will probably say 16+ on the box, but you know it's mainly the adults who will know what a ghostbuster is. As you may know, some third parties are creating some rather nice custom printed bricks. I wonder if it is legal for them to create replacement printed bricks to replace the current stickered ones. Might be a market for that... <wink><nudge><hint>
  10. I hope the "much more" includes a painting of vigo (likely another sticker) and chinese food containers (from big bang theory set). And they better have the wooden lockers on the first floor. And while we are waiting to see the interior, here is mockup model used during production of the first movie. I think the guy is John DeCuir, the production designer. I wonder will they keep the interior loft-design, which seems popular in some modular buildings (to keep the piece count down).
  11. A lot of the photos of the actual building shows the circles above the door to be black: It's hard to find clear exterior shots of the building used in the movies, but it may not even feature the circles: I eventually found some photos where the circles are actually white stars over blue, matching the ones in the set. From: http://www.nyc-archi...om/GV/GV056.htm Does anyone have any information on the purpose and history of those circles? While digging, I did discover that the firehouse use to be twice as wide with two engine doors, but was cut in half around 1914 since the adjacent street was being widened (mod idea, wink wink). More info: http://daytoninmanha...ny-no-8-14.html
  12. And has what appears to be a fire escape.
  13. I want to put hats over girl hair, like the hair from Lego Friends. Since the hair piece has a hole on top, there must be a system way to use it to keep hats on. Any ideas before I resort to fun-tack? The closest thing I can think of is to use this to keep the hat from slipping off.
  14. It's likely due to the transition from the period when LEGO sets are bought for you and the period when you bought your own LEGO sets. As you grow up, your parents may buy you less 'toys' or buy you other things to encourage the experience of new interests. I wouldn't say interest is lost, but there are so many interests that it's hard for a kid to maintain them all, especially without a job and the ability to buy anything you want. Only after you have a job and things have stabilized, then you can consider buying things for yourself.
  15. From looking at the roof seams, it seems like it opens up like a book (two set of hinges), unlike sergio's, which has the entire side wall open up as one piece. Smaller walls will put less strain on the hinges since the walls won't be touching the ground. The detail I love the most is how the yellow parts next to the front door blend in so well with the walls that it looks like they are just painted yellow.
  16. I remember in an interview with a Lego designer, where it was said that if you're going to have a sticker sheet anyway, you might as well go all in and use as many stickers as you can. This definitely looks like a modular design, where the floors are lifted off. There are no shots of the left side or the back, so maybe there are hidden hinges and seams for opening it from the side. Are those hinges on the left side? If you consider adding this to your modular building collection (as I did with the Haunted House), then you essentially have TWO CORNER buildings in one year. Crazy! If you layout your buildings around in a block, then using this building as a corner will be a challenge. This is because the rear extends 16 more blocks than the usual modular and makes it hard to fit another modular next to it. You'll need to use the rear space for a MOC. Easier is to make this into a middle building and turn the side sidewalks into alleys. I'm already thinking of placing strategic dumpsters and piles of boxes in the alleys to hide the modular-building connector blocks and pins.
  17. This baseplate footprint of this set is 32x48. Modulars are 32x32. So it's bigger. If you're talking about the building footprint, then it's 22 x 43 (946 studs sq). For comparison, the Town Hall is about 25 x 32 (800 studs sq).
  18. What got me out of the dark ages: collectable minifigures What broke the dam wide open: parisian restaurant
  19. I once saw Lego Minecraft cards but they were obviously not licensed from LEGO since it didn't mention LEGO anywhere on it and the quality was not great. I hope the Dimensions cards are more legitimate.
  20. If there are lockers in the new set (or if you add them), then you can hang the old torso and legs there.
  21. I wish such a unit existed. Ikea has the Galant Wall Cabinet that can fit 6 across (but has a divider making it 3+3), has glass doors (though there are handle cutouts that will let dust in), BUT it's not tall enough to fit the taller modulars. See my eariler post: http://www.eurobrick...00#entry2194294
  22. It makes sense if thieves plan to launder the money they steal.
  23. Maybe it'll be the batcave AND the gbhq: the gbhq will be like a regular modular building with no basement, BUT you can attach it to the top of the batcave and the top level of the batcave is the GB basement with the containment vault. Mind blown, amiright? What? Wayne manor is above what? You're not making any sense.
  24. Wouldn't they only announce licensed products at comic-con?
  25. badbob001 replied to Robert8's post in a topic in Special LEGO Themes
When do you think the two winter sets will be available? Maybe Nov 1st? I hope they are sold at the same time and not split apart by a month so I can order them together or only make one trip to the store.
