  1. Pieces: 112 retail price: € 9.99 Apparently the Friends 2014 are already available in Holland, I bought this small box yesterday at a local toy store. Contents of the two bags: Printed cookies, printed lemonade sign, no decals. You start by putting Mia and the scooter together. The scooter can't stand on its own, it has to be supported by the bucket handle, of which an extra one is included. Then you build a crate and a chair. Mia keeps falling off. Even if the chair had studs on top, it would not help, because the friends minidolls can't sit on studs. The finished lemonade stand: Flickr keeps giving me server errors, so I cannot acces my photostream. I'll try again later and hopefully finish this review.
  2. Duplo now also has a few boxes for ages 1 and up now, like 10561 (Toddler Starter Set) and 10554. They have larger blocks which are really great to develop motor skills. I personally would not start with the princess sets, the minifigs are probably still hard to handle and you will have to rebuild everything all the time. Also, duplo doors and windows, a one year old child will keep pulling these apart and won't be able to put them back together.

Found a youtube video of some Decool clones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRfqXW9dTJU It even features a Hulk minifig. Probably from the same factory as those Malasyan ones.
  4. According to the designer video, you can play with the containers (move them around) and have your friends look through the window. Awesome play features, that's for sure.

You MOC is so adorable, I voted for it, despite my dislike of Cuusoo.
  6. I checked brickbuilderspro, I think he still sells them there, I could put the Ice Cream Shop in a cart and check out with Paypal, if I wanted to.
  7. Oh yeah? How do you measure popularity?
  8. I don't understand all the hate Lego gets. They aren't in the toy business to better the world. Every year, lots of new themes are launched, most of them won't do well, some will be very successful. It's all about maximizing profit, the rest is just marketing nonsense.
  9. Yes, I own and have played both of them, I posted some info and the rules at the boardgames thread. Basically, Lord of the Rings is a Heroica-clone in a castle, so if you like Heroica then you will probably like this game, though I think it takes a bit too long for what it is. Batman is a very simple roll and move for kids, you can play it with a four year old. Awesome microfigs in both games.
  10. These two new sets just appeared on Brickset, don't know anything about them but I really like the monkey and parrot set. They seem to be 2014 sets, though.
  11. Youtube user Jangbricks already bought the set and has a very detailed review of it on his channel in two parts.
  12. Yeah, seems to work fine in Wine for most users: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=21829 Just some sound problems.
  13. Excellent idea, great execution, especially the transparency. This is a great way of customizing any lego creation, not just the palace cinema.
  14. Didn't know this game had microfigs as well, sadly, not a single new one, but it's nice that they included eight golden microfigs. Is that a gold cat? The owl and cat seem to be unprinted, which would make them extremely rare.
  15. Well, I can clearly see the spelling mistake. Nice catch.
  16. No, they are way smaller. That's why, for instance, you cannot fit a Friends head on a regular minifig. So the apron isn't really that useful if you collect regular minifigures, unfortunately.

You're right, the Lego PotC movie tie in was problematic as well. But with this movie, it's like they're saying: "Moralists, eat your heart out!"

Is Johnny Depp supposed to be a politically correct native American with that white war paint? Pretty bizarre also to see a cannibal in a Disney movie, I do not understand how Lego wants to be involved with this kind of sick violence. Anyway, it's good to see this dumb movie flop, hopefully bankrupting Disney further.
  19. There's an update to this story, apparently. http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2013/07/01/244649_local-news.html TWO male youths have been charged over the destruction of a giant Lego helicopter in Cairns Central last week.
  20. You only get to move the villains after you visited the police station. If you roll the joker symbol, you can then move your "own" villain towards you, or the villain of your opponents away from them, e.g. in the water if they don't have the Batboat, so that it will take them longer to catch them.
  21. LOTR also has a poster with three different setups (small, medium, large). I embedded the pictures a bit bigger for readability, hope this isn't a problem. I like the idea of the rangefinder. And the siege ladders and the gates are pretty cool looking. The three new games weren't in the german catalogue pdf either, so I doubt they will be made widely available.
  22. The Chima game looks more interesting than I thought. I have all the new board games now, so I can post the Batman and LOTR rules as well, if anyone is interested. Batman is a simple roll and move and LOTR looks like a Heroica clone.
  23. How do you know, did you ask them? As for the cost, even with these eight panels, this set isn't exactly cheap. I can understand why they would use them, it just goes against the spirit of building something with lego bricks. And then building something else with it. Imagine if they would swap all the bricks in Creator sets with these lousy panels. My point was that it does not make for an interesting build, putting large panels on top of each other. But I have no doubt that it is cost-effective, maximizing profit and whatnot.
  24. I was just quoting you because of the panels. I was referring to the reviewer Pandora, she called this an interesting build and interesting pieces. Sorry for the confusion.
  25. correct me if I'm wrong, but do I count 8 of these large panels here? So I don't see how anyone could say this is an interesting build or contains interesting parts, might as well be playmobil.
