  1. Tnx for the deepies guys! I must say that I'm a little bit disappointed on the great helmet. I'm not joking when I say that I been waiting for a official LEGO great helmet for 25 years now. Now, when it finally arrives it really doesn't live up to my expatiations. I do think that the brickforge version is a much nicer one.
  2. Can someone be so kind and deeplink a pic or two on the new great helmet? I really can't get see the pics on flickr, the bigger versions just dont want to load.
  3. I’ve placed an order from SaH containing one copy of 10193. So hopefully I have this set within the next two weeks. If anyone is interested I can tell that the Swedish price for this set is 1049 SEK…a really good price I think (+ shipping of course ((175SEK)) ). Now to the newly revelled 2009 sets: can anyone tell if it is a new helmet for the knight(s) or is it the old visor helmet? Over and out
  4. I’m pleased to have fount this thread. I’m truly a big horse barding collector as well and I actually have every single one of them…in multiply copies (for an example I have three shogun barding *braging* *braging*). Anyway, I really hope that LEGO continue to make this lovely part and make different colours as well. I’m actually about to set my own design on some of my barding but it’s really tricky to get the decal right. And for my little project I actually need some more colours. Over and
  5. Do you have any hat with printings on? If you do so and want to get rid of the printing you just have to buy some "Häxans koppar puts" (a Swedish product...sorry). You then place some of that stuff on a damp and rub it on to the printing. Tadaaa! After a while the printing disappears and there is no sign of the printing or that you have used mild "violence" to get rid of it. Over and out
  6. Do you really believe that? There is no chance in the world that’s going to happen. There has never been such a great release of sets on one theme ever in the history of LEGO. And by the way, if they actually released 14 castle sets at the same time, then the sets would actually compete with each other. The only way we could expect 14 sets is if they were about to release a hole bunch of impulse sets, let’s say 6-8 different, and we all know that’s most unlikely. The new castle sets won’t be realised until the fall (except for 10193). So that would mean that we would have, lets see…10-13 new castle sets the second half of 2009…dream on! Nope, we won’t get 14 sets but hopefully more than four. Over and out
  7. The reason why there is (a lot?) of complains is because the “re-birth” of the pirate theme have had such huge expectations on it. But I have to say that I think that most of the posts in here has been positive and not negative and that’s good, isn’t? You can’t expect that everyone should love everything. The experiences and emotions to LEGO are very different from person to person. And I have to step up and defend the AFOL’s on this forum, sins I guess that I’m one of the oldest. We are actually a very important group for LEGO. Besides buying LEGO for our kids (if there are any) we spend a lot of money on it for our one sake. Most of us probably have jobs and that gives us a greater opportunity to buy what we want, when we want it,…which I guess that most of the younglings doesn’t (?). And I also would like to say that I doubt that all of you who criticises the AFOL’s have read all the posts. I’ve never said that I want everything exactly as it was. I think that this will be the third time I write this: The new line is much too SIMILAR to the old one. There is a kind of lack of new ideas. I suppose that it isn’t much you can do about this because the kinds today haven’t grown up with the old sets so TLC releases sets that were popular earlier. But ones again I have to compare with the castle theme. There you have a more “modern” perspective and some new fresh ideas. I actually think that the line (castle) could have been great without the fantasy genre but it all depends on what you do with the possibilities. The new pirate line follows the exact same pattern as before. Ugly pirate captain struggles with imperial soldiers. You’ve got a pirate ship, a raft, a small island and a tower. Just imagine how it could be if you spice it up a little. Throw in a ghost ship, make the pirate younger and make him the good fellow (the Errol Flynn…ohh sorry, the Captain Blood stile). There are tons of ideas. What I wrote in the text above is just some suggestions and maybe not the best but you understand what I mean (don’t you?). I guess we (AFOL’s) have to see that the company goes throw changes and that’s what bugs me. I will never stop loving LEGO and I will never give up the hope. But when you look at the sets (and not just Pirate) there are many small sets with a lot of “army building”. And I actually think that this is crucial for the company so that they can keep up the competition with other brands. But earlier the focus was on making a playable set ant not so much on making as many minifigs as possible (although army-building sets have always been there). When the first pirate line was released, it was magic. I was a young boy and had loved LEGO for as long as I could remember. But the pirate line opened up so many new doors. If you guys think that there are a lot of new parts in this line you could imagine how it felt when a completely new LEGO theme entered my world. Every part seemed new Thank you Asuka for brining some perspective to this thread:
  8. The pictures are definitely on an early stage so hopefully we can se some further development on these sets. Maybe the kraken will actually look like a sea monster in the end. Most of you have already notified that the pictures are in an “early stage” (much photoshoping etc.) but for all you others I can give you some hints on how to see this (you only get two for now): 1. The maidens in the ship are smiling, although she is about to fall of the ship. I guess that this is not the face that will be in the final photo (or maybe the whole picture will be rearranged) 2. Look at the cow on the picture of “the new, farmer theme”. You can actually see that the black marks/pattern on the skin is painted, perhaps with a brush or pencil. Over and out
  9. …read my whole post not just part of it. This has nothing to do with me just wanting the old pirate look. “Those were the days” is just an expression. The disappointment is against the lack of inspiration in the new set, could you see anything that is amazing or new (beside from the parts) about them? I guess not, as I wrote the problem is not that they are too different from the old pirate line up but the opposite, they are too similar…it’s like the time have stand still. In the early set in every different line-up (castle, pirates, space etc.) there was a much greater feeling of playfulness than today. About the three castle sets: A designer can never say with a 100% accurate what will be released or not. That’s all up to the “boarding members” or at least for the people that are deep in too the economy of TLC. It’s possible that we will see more than three sets for the castle line but what a designer have said or speculated in a half to one year ago, is never the last decision. To make a prototype of a set and to rely put it to mass production is two totally different things. Also the economic balance in the world is going slightly downwards and that makes people hold on harder to the money and that affect brand toys as well. As I said, I will give this line a chance and probably buy, at least, the two “large” sets. And from what it seems like we don’t have to worry. Must of the people here like the new sets and that are good for the enduring of the line
  10. Well, the problem is just that…it is the NEW Pirate theme but there’s nothing NEW about it except for some new (and really cool) torso and head prints (and some few totally new mould parts). In this “new” line I think we can see the new strategy from TLC. Army building and multicolour pieces is what seems to catch the interest of youngsters today. The large amount of small set is probably a precaution from TLC. I mean it’s not really the best time for a new pirate line. By this I don’t mean that they are releasing it to early but rather too late. This line should have been released a couple of years ago when the POTC-movies where new (in cinemas). I’m glad for TLC that this new pirate line is so well appreciated among the most of you. I am, as I said, really disappointed. If you compare this whit the “rebirth of the classic castle line” it’s a huge difference. With that line TLC managed to re-create the old feeling but with a new twist and some really great sets. With the pirate line it seems like they just have copied some old sets, changed the colour palette, made some new torso/face prints and hope for the best. There should be some sets that really make people say Ahh! Not just make a raft for the hundred time and put another name to it. And what’s all the adoring of the soldier fort? Haven’t you guys seen the old forts, Eldorado Fortress (6276) and the Imperial Trading Post (6277) ?!!....does were the days… And I really doesn’t want to sound too pessimistic but don’t hope too much on a long lasting line. The times are different now. It seems like if the theme aren’t very, very popular it will only last for a couple of years. Have you for an example read the list that were on the eurobricks frontpage yesterday? Only three new castle set (and some impulse but I don’t count them as “sets”). Well well, I will absolutely give the new Pirate line a chance but for now the only set I’m looking forward to are actually the ship. Of all the bad things this one is the best.
  11. When I read the news on the main page (here on eurobricks) I almost tipped of my chair. So I went to brickshelf to look at the pictures that people was writing all about, and man…what a total disappointment. I really hope that the sets on the pictures are in a very early stage because they don’t look good at all. Where are all the fun ideas, fantasy and all the inspirations? To make new face- and torso prints aren’t enough (but I have to admit that the maiden in the big ship set looks amazing). Come on TLC, you can better than this! Well I guess we have to wait and see. Hopefully there will be a lot of surprises. For an example, I doubt that the tiny octopus is actually the fearsome kraken. There was some other great new stuff in the list as well. We finally get some Endor- and some more Hoth sets (Taun Tauns…yeeehhaaa!) And also, I guess that Armothe and Red Bean will meet some competition now when TLC have decide to make there own, official, cows!
  12. No, that’s most unlikely. To do this you actually have some one, or develop something, that actually glues the ears to the plastic head. I think LEGO will go safe with this one and just make plastic heads with printings that indicate that it is an elf(/Elves). This doesn’t necessarily mean that we will have printed ears. My dream would be that they try to make plastic heads with some tiny ears sticking out from the sides. But I’m afraid that such thing would be costly and I don’t think that LEGO will spend all the money on making a new mould that they only can use for elves in a medieval fantasy theme. To completely avoid making the ears would be a pity though. That’s not necessarily true. LEGO is making a “hardcore fantasy-theme” now because that’s what’s popular for now. LOTR, Narnia, Warhammer (with a new MMORPG), Warcraft, World of Warcraft, Conan and many, many other franchise are doing well now. And although all this games/films/products are not meant to be for kids, they will be affected anyway. Let us don’t forget that LEGO is in first hand, a business company. So there will be a fantasy theme as long there is a demand for it and as long as it sells. I don’t actually know if the castle theme will go further more back to its roots, we have to wait and see. I personally would love to see, as many of you other, that we will have a more realistic theme with a Joust scene, a tavern, blacksmith etc. Unfortunately I don’t think this will bring enough money for the LEGO Company. But let us all cross our fingers. For now I’m quite pleased with the fantasy theme. All my childhood-LEGO-castle theme-dreams are about to come true. If I had elves, dwarves and goblins when I was a kid, oh man then I would have been in heaven. But I think that it is enough with evil factions for now. I totally agree that they should try to focus on develop some really nice sets for the existing fractions.
  13. I found it quite odd that there is no TW stronghold or base set. Maybe a stronghold is the
